Everything you all have said is what I was thinking, that there are SO many reviews and so many brides who have "been there/done that", that you can pretty much find out anything you want without visiting the place. We are planning a catholic wedding in the little church on 5th ave, then staying at and having the reception at the Royal/Gran Porto (for those with kids) I have heard nothing but great things about both of these venues, and when it gets closer to actual wedding time, I plan on just getting all the minor details from brides who have been there before. I just didn't know if I were doing something completely unorthodox by not visiting beforehand.

Anyway, I'm wondering if everyone can post what website they shop on for cute casual dresses (something appropriate for daytime on a beach vacation.) Thanks so much girls - you're the best!!! What are you wanting/willing to spend on a dress? I know of some SUPER cute cocktail dresses, but they are more on the spendy-side.

I realize that a site visit is the preferred route to go since you are able to make decisions first hand. However that does add yet another expense to the list. Part of me has the attitude that, we'll plan the best we can from home, be flexible, and even if things aren't exactly how we imagined them once we got there, the end result will still going to beautiful and a great time. Has anyone planned their DW to Playa del Carmen without taking a site visit? If so, did everything turn out ok?

For a custom dress, that is CHEAP!! How long did it take for you to get yours from the time you ordered it? -

A friend of mine ordered a knock off cocktail dress from China and it turned out great! I was thinking about, if anything, getting a cheaper dress from them for a TTD session and wanted to know if we are possibly going through the same vendor -
Has anyone recently used Ajua wedding planners? I have found a few threads that have some info, but they are from awhile ago. We are planning a catholic wedding and I have heard (from others as well as Ajua themselves) that one of their specialties is that they are very good with communicating with the church and kinda "holding your hand" throughout the paperwork process. I have spoken with one of their representatives briefly and they seem wonderful! However I would like to hear some other brides' reviews before committing to them. Any reviews/advice/info would be great!

These are brand new gold crystal earrings that have never been worn. I got them to go with a cocktail dress for a wedding, but then ended up wearing something different. I'm not sure if they would go well with a champagne wedding gown, but they could be used for rehearsal dinners or any other sort of cocktail hour. Pierced 5" in length (1 1/2" in width at widest point) Retail Price $150 SALE $80 (The photo is of a silver pair, I am selling the exact same style but in gold) http://s661.photobucket.com/albums/u...rrent=Gold.jpg (Not sure if this will work since it's my first time using photobucket!)

What I would and wouldn't do again...
RaychelRae replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
This is great! There have been handful of topics that I have went back and re-evaluated due to the responses from this thread...biggest topic - CAKE! (That is the one thing I have really kept putting off just because I thought it was necessary but didn't want to look at the prices of most cakes!) -

MAC Cosmetics in Playa
RaychelRae replied to jesmcan's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Wedding Vendors
Emily Joy- Thanks for the "insider" info! So you're saying that if you plan on making a purchase at the MAC store, they will just do your make-up for free? So then would you have to tell them when you're calling to make your wedding day appointment that you are going to be making a purchase as well?? -
How long did you date before enagaged?
RaychelRae replied to Tamster808's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
We dated for a semester back when I was a sophomore in HS and he was a freshman at a nearby college (so you can imagine how serious that was!), but since we were so young, when he went home for the summer we just kinda let things go. He transferred to a different college the next year so we obviously didn't pick things back up. 2 years later I ran into him but nothing really came of it, 2 more years later the same thing happened again, 2 MORE years later he found me on Facebook and we went on a date. Since then its been a year and a half of official dating/engagement...SOOOOO I guess you can say we've been together for 1 1/2 years officially, but more like 7 years unofficially : ) -

seaview catholic chapel in cancun or rivera maya

Only the Royal in Cancun has a chapel for a catholic wedding, however it looks gorgeous from the pics! If I weren't so set on staying in Playa I would absolutely look into the chapel at the Royal Cancun more! * Playa del Carmen: Chapel of Nuestra Señora del Carmen on the Caribbean Sea (air conditioned) * Playa del Carmen: Nuestra Señora del Carmen -Downtown * Playa del Carmen: Nuestra Señora de Fatima - Ejido * Playa del Carmen: Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe - Colosio * Puerto Aventuras: Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe * Xcaret: Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi * Akumal: Chapel in Pueblo * Tulum: Mission church -

I am in the process of interviewing a handful of wedding planners in Playa right now as well so if you know of anyone fabulous let me know! I've heard great things about BDW's forum community. Looking forward to making great friends and getting and giving advice. YAY!!! Hey Emily! Who all have you looked in to as far as planners? I've looked into a few myself, and trying to narrow them down. Have you heard of/investigated Ajua planners at all?

I agree with many of the other comments. I am planning a May 2011 wedding in Playa del Carmen and felt the same way when I first started...where do I begin!??! You need to find the thing that is most important to you and go from there. For me it was the church. We are having a catholic wedding and I wanted a beautiful catholic church. Once I found that, then we were able to begin looking for hotels that were going to be great, yet close to the church since we didn't want to have to transport people back and forth. Once you kinda figure out your priorities, things definitely begin to fall into place!
