  1. You ladies just saved me a lot of stress, yet again. Since we are getting married on a private estate and having a friend officiate we had NO idea where to begin!! this is fabulous... i can combine and tweak a few of these. big hugs ladies, nicole
  2. I feel the same way... i don't want randoms at our wedding. And I've mentioned to friends that I am trying to keep the number of guests down. but a few still think they are bringing dates! And what's frustrating is that 3 of them are not in relationships currently. Do they think they'll be in love and want to bring a guy down to mexico for a few days 6 months from now? That is crazy to me! I don't want to not include "and guest" on the invite for etiquette reasons, but i do NOT want them to bring a guest!! i hate this.
  3. Have a great trip Andrew! Let me know if you go into Akumal at all. Also, if you go fishing in Puerto Morelos or have a recommendation of a good sports fishing captain I would be interested in that as well. Enjoy your holidays while I freeze. )
  4. I'm ready for a beer right now!! and i wish i was in MX... it's too cold here in chicago!
  5. Diamondpooch, My wedding date is the same and we are also moving from our destination in Akumal. Looking at Secrets Maroma and Ceiba del Mar. I think we'll end up going with Ceiba del Mar. I am also a huge fan of Tulum, but I think i want more of an all inclusive small resort since we'll be exhausted by then. Let me know what you decide! Nicole
  6. Andrea, I love that some of your guests thought they looked real. After we printed them I said to Jasin "Crap, do you think we should have written "not valid for travel" on them? My passport invites are designed and i love them! I hope to post something soon.
  7. Has anyone had an unofficial wedding and incorporated some of the Mexican Catholic traditions such as the lasso and coins? We are getting married outdoors and our friend will be the officiant. He is not a priest or reverend, but he is wonderful and also very religious. My Fiance and I would like to incorporate some readings and the lasso and coins since he is MX, but don't want to offend either. Looking for guidance and possibly an outline from a wedding someone else has planned which is similar. Thanks for your help ladies!
  8. Thanks for Miguel's info on the video. I sent him a message!
  9. My friend is a graphic designer. And since he has been very slow I asked him to design my passport invites. He will not give me a price, and I'm sure he spent some time on them, but I am not sure what to charge for the design work. I am paying for the printing/stock/envelopes myself so this is strictly for his time. the invite is very nice looking. It's a small 8 pager (4pager plus 2 sided cover). Maybe some of you ladies who design these can give me an idea. Thank you!
  10. My engagement pics are done. some of them are cute, but I hate that we are so unnatural and posed. and my hair was so funky due to the humidity. Here is one of the photos below; there are 100 more! I am using this in our passport invite. what should I do with them other than this? Some of them are really bad, but some are cute. JAIMECAMPANELLI.COM click on proofs. click on "Nicole" Password is: jaime Any ideas?
  11. I really like the idea of buying each of the honorary bridesmaid flowers for their hair. In one bridal mag I saw the cousins of the bride all wore white hats which is a similar idea. I also like the color dresses.. although my color is lime green which does not look good on everyone. )
  12. Tanga, did you post a photo? I must have missed it. what page is it on? i just went through this entire forum. I'm now on a hunt for my TTD dress. I ordered my dress from Macy's for $3000 and I think it's a lot of money so i dont want to trash it.
  13. It seems more difficult to find ivory for men, but more difficult for ring bearer. but i also am trying to find ivory, or at least off white. I don't want his shirt to stick out in photos being brite white while my dress is ivory. but my flowers will be white, so who the heck knows if it matters at all! ?
  14. Ladies, When do you plan to send your invites out? Also, I still need a videographer (in Akumal, Riviera Maya)... I don't want to pay a ton of money, but want someone pretty good who will be easy to deal with. suggestions appreciated. I know this is not the right post for this question, but some of you have dates near me and are probably just in the same selection process. ) - Nicole
  15. The $300 is the rule. Love that you girls are paying of the baggage dudes -smart! I'm saving my receipts and will stay below the $300 pricetag since I'll be buying the OOT stuff down there. My friend offered to buy and carry down my custom koozies and we'll bring the bags and other miscellaneous. If we go over, i will give some to my mother.. i assume the receipts will be ok since we share the same last name (i hope). If not, people will not be receiving bags, just contents in some cheapy MX baggie. By the time we are all in Mexico we probably will not care... hopefully i can get a beer the minute i get out of the airport!
  16. Ceci, Thanks so much. I also heard nice things about Ceiba which is I think less expensive. do you mind giving me an idea of what you paid per night for that awesome suite? I saw the photos online and it looks unbelievable. How could you have a bad time in a paradise like that? Congrats to you!!
  17. Awesome. We are getting married at Casa Romero too! Our date is 5.29.10 feel free to check out our wedding site. can i see yours ? Congrats to you! www.jasinandnicole.com Is Jen your wedding coordinator? we must exchange some info. feel free to PM me. Nicole
  18. I agree with this last post. We had the same discussion and decided it would be more fun to do it before. then it's really official while you are in MX, and after the ceremony you really will be husband and wife (in both senses)! Good luck to you. we don't have a date planned, but I see the tax reasons post and i never thought of that! good point. good luck to you. I think the courtyhouse civil ceremonies are romantic.
  19. After reading this i am very sure I will stop shopping. My friend offered to bring the koozies down for me. The bags themselves take up so much space that I'm not re-considering the real touch flowers i was planning on. I just don't want to lug so much stuff. Definitely buying my OOT contents in Mexico. there is a walmart in Playa del Carmen so that should work. I'll bring a list of things to buy, thanks to all of you!!
  20. Thanks! Yes, I made them using Ayleebits.com template. I added the info on another post, but here is her link if you need it Aylee Bits :: Aylee on weddings, design, personal finance, travel, photography, the internet and more so glad you like it cause i thought they looked plain. The lime is simple free clip art and I looked around for some fonts that I thought were fitting. printed them on 80# white card stock and used my laser printer at work. Thank you to all of the ladies on here who have shared information.
