How is your Akumal planning going? Congrats on your engagement. My Akumal wedding was 5.29.10 so I'm still on a bit of a wedding high. Feel free to send me a private message if you need assistance. Nicole

Akumal Brides?? 2010?
nicitica replied to nicitica's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Ladies, Just want to check in. Wedding went off with out a hitch and it was amazing! I've posted a few pics to our website and I'd love to see yours as well! www.jasinandnicole.com -
You guys, since Paul Simon released the Surprise album I have been in love with that song. I am a HUGE Paul Simin song, but my father is not. ( I asked him to listen to it and he really didn't like it. He likes "Welcome to my world" which is also a great song, but super slow. The others he and my mom are telling me are soooo cheesy I could cry. Andrew, I hope you get to dance w/ your daughter to Paul Simon someday. how sweet you are.

I was planning on using this as a "Welcome to Mexico" for their welcome bags, but I decided to print and send them in advance since everyone had so many questions, and obviously reading our website is too troublesome ) So, I included a packing list and some general info. I got this template from one of you amazing ladies - so thank you!! I used most of it and added the pack list in place of the itinerary. I've attached it here in case any of you will find it useful. I should probably now change the pack list to itinerary and print more copies for the welcome bags... I just realized that would be a good idea. ) brochure template.doc

Anyone looking to sell their led lantern lights? If they are working I am interested. I have a lot of white paper lanterns in different sizes. I don't NEED to illuminate them, but it would be cool.

I got a starfish that looks exactly like that at the Swarovski Outlet store. It was a free gift for spending over $100, but that was in March. I got two of them. One I gave to my flower girl for her to pin on her dress. I was trying to figure out what to do with the second one and the bouquet idea is great. Thank you!

Only 17 days until our wedding. and we depart for Akumal next Sunday. Holy crap I have a lot to do. Any ideas on signature cocktails? Do you think I should type up a menu? (we are buying our own liquor). Also, is it necessary for a program? Can I skip that? I still need to create table numbers, select flowers, etc. I don't know what will look nice and I'm feeling overwhelmed. I also need to give me videographer a cd with a few songs for the video. I'd love input on all of these items. And we have 104 guests total including us. I think we are going to take over Akumal - this is crazy! Please help you lovely ladies!

HI. not sure where you're guests will be but I got a quote from a nice catamaran out of Puerto aventuras. $1300 for the charter up to 60 or 80 people I think, sunset cruise. WE ended up doing a 4 hour day snorkel trip for about $70 per person includes steak or lobster lunch and open bar. here is the link if you are interested in inquiring. DJ Bob gave me this company name if they ask. (so he can get credit) :::::::::: CATAMAYA ::::::::::

Akumal Brides?? 2010?
nicitica replied to nicitica's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I have a trip report from my visit last month. We'll be going back in only 2 weeks for our wedding! Cannot believe it's come this quickly!! Chelsea Rose, you are right behind us. Do you have everything set? I still have not chosen flowers, cake, favors, table numbers, music etc... I am such a slacker. I hope it all works out! -
Our last minute scouting trip was great! The weather was great, cool but nice and comfortable. I checked out the Secrets Maroma spa on a day pass and wow, that is a nice resort. My Fiance played the new golfcourse down the street (the name escapes me) and he also loved it. It just opened recently and he and his buds will definitely return during our wedding week. We also checked out Ceiba del Mar where we will be honeymooning, Puerto Aventuras for fishing charter info and we ate at Lol-ha, Turtle Bay cafe, La Lunita (all in Akumal Playa) and dinner at Don Cafetos in Tulum. We had drinks at Cueva de Pescadors and La Buena Vida beach bar. We made our way to Playa one day to check it out since I had not been there is years and I was EXTREMELY dissapointed. There are now Starbucks on 5th ave (2 of them), my fave pizza joint is now some horrible lounge and the beach is fake trucked in sand. I apologize if any of you reading this are getting married there... don't get me wrong - it's still nice white sand and pretty water - but it's nothing like it was even 5 years ago. I am so pleased that Jasin loved Akumal as this was his first trip to the Mayan Riviera period. I really got along well with our wedding coordinator, and our DJ too! Everyone we are dealing with are fabulous and Yal-ku lagoon is breathtaking. I cannot wait to get back there and wake up to that view again.

Akumal Brides?? 2010?
nicitica replied to nicitica's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Ladies!! Jasin and I are headed to Akumal on Wednesday. My friend will be doing my hair, so I didn't ask about that, but I am sure Jen knows someone in town. We were not planning on doing a site visit, but this last minute trip should prove useful for planning, and also offer some much needed relaxation. The weather doesn't look too promising, but it's better than Chicago! my email address is [email protected] in case you lovely ladies need me to check something for you. -
Booked my site visit to Akumal!

Cancun PHOTOGRAPHERS
nicitica replied to sunitam's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I am paying for airfare and room for my photog and it's costing less than all of the quotes (and he'll be there all weekend). Total cost is $1800 - $1900. Not sure if you considered that at all. This does not include an album, but my friend is giving it to me as my wedding gift. She is also a photog for weddings. I'm excited to have him capture the day before and the day after too! He is psyched about adding this to his portfolio, and a trip to MX for him! He's Mexican and speaks Spanish which is also a bonus. ) -
Tan/white Suit
nicitica replied to amybermuda's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I'm torn on what to do for his suit. My dress is ivory, the BM is wearing an Ivory Guayabera short sleeved shirt.... I'm not sure if my Fiance should wear Ivory as well, or something a little darker for some contrast with an ivory shirt. I think that would be my preference. I am not enjoying this! -
Salons charge $150 and up for some simple flower girl dresses. We were going to buy a sample dress for $60 until we found the prettiest dresses at JC Penney! This dress is so pretty, and there are others that are also adorable depending on your color. this dress comes in white and Ivory. we got ivory. My little flower girl tried it on and it fits perfectly! true to size if you want to buy online. and prettier than in the photo! JCPenney : Cinderella?
