I went with Paradisus because they seemed to have everything I wanted. Not to mention tons of pictures that I have seen. I was not able to find many pics from the other resorts and I already had in mind what I wanted. When is your wedding date?

When we travel to New Orleans, we like staying at the Royal Sonesta. Nice hotel and we never drive anywhere until we go home! You MUST eat at Mother's, Acme Oyster House, I thinking its just not coming to me.... You MUST drink a hand grenade and a hurricane There is a fun jazz club on Bourbon but again all names have gone from me.... I hope this helps!

You should check around the site. I am not sure what your budget is but getting a photographer outside of the resort will probably be less expensive and better quality photos. We are using Nora Bohanon which advertises on this site. She does great work and although she is not in DR she is VERY affordable! Its all about what is most important to you as far as pics go.

Does anyone know of you are allowed to have an outside wedding planner?

I have been dealing with Teresa and she said they do not sign contracts that they are for office use only. In the very first paragraph on the contract it says...."This Contract will be effective only if and as of the date it is signed by the authorized representative of the Resort." I am sure that they will follow through with everything but I refuse to take the chance.

lesandlynda...thank you so much for your response. I have never heard of someone not signing a contract.....I know this is a reputable resort but still really scary! I'm not sure if the contract can be enforced if they do not sign it.

Did you receive a signed contract back from the resort once your date was confirmed? They are telling me that they "do not sign contracts" this makes me a little worried because I basically have nothing to hold them to.

Sandestin is great! We love to vacation yet! I'm not sure if you have chosen your photographer but Patsy Brown with A Thousand Words Photography is great and Devin Warner performs a beautiful ceremony.

It will definitly depend on who is performing your ceremony. Rick York is performing our ceremony and it will be in English.

I have never heard of them but I have heard of cr events which their site is crevents.com. Awesome work from what I see! Also, there is Tropical Occasions.

We are actually getting married at Paradisus in Punta Cana. The rates are ALOT less! We were quoted around $300 pp.

The contract I received said that if your date is less than 12 months away then it is a $300 deposit and if it is more than 12 months then it is $500. My wedding is in 2011 and either way the amount is going towards my final bill.
