Ok my photographer...I need advice!! So, here is the deal. My photographer is AMAZING!! SO SO SO talented...AND we just clicked!! Well, I feel like she has really flaked on me...I can't get her to respond to emails or texts or phone calls or anything, and I don't know what to do. I will get a random text every few weeks that says she is soooo sorry she hasn't posted the pics...blah blah blah...and will send me the pics and other things "first thing monday morning." Then I never hear from her. Also, this is so stupid, but it just confirms her flakiness to me. She borrowed my garmin to get back to the airport for our enagement pics 1 MONTH ago. Well, I have given her my fed ex acct number and address and everything like 5 times. She keeps saying she forgets to send it, and now just won't respond to me. Like, I said, I know this is dumb to worry about, but it just seems really shady on top of everything else. Get what I am saying? And in my job (I drive about 300-400 miles everyday all over the state of Alabama), a Garmin to me is equivalent to a hair dresser not having a blow dryer! haha It is almost impossible to get around these tiny towns everyday without one. I had to go buy a new one. So, to make a long story even longer, here is the bottom line: I am spending more money on my pictures than I can even stomach. Paying her fee, her travel, her travel to NOLA for engagement pics, etc etc etc etc has gotten WAAAAY out of control. BUT it is worth it to me. However, this shadiness is scaring me to death!!!!!! What would you guys do? And she blocked me on facebook from seeing her status updates. Ok, that sounds so stalker-like, but it is true...

I might give it to him when we have our AHR. I think we're staying in a hotel downtown so that'll be a good time. BUT, hubby LOOOOOOOOOOVED the pictures I had printed for him!!!!! I gave them to him in person on our wedding day while we were having breakfast on our balcony. When he opened it and I explained the reasons for doing the shoot for him, I made him cry!! I haven't seen those pictures yet. The first thing he said to me after we got married and walked back down the aisle was... "OMG, that BOOK. A-MAZING! You are sooooo damn hot!" He was totally blown away. The end of the book was that photo of me walking away holding my bra and next to it I put some Frank Sinatra lyrics that I absolutely love... so I'd say it was a total success! Amy and Wendy!!! All I can think of now is to bring my guest books for people and maybe the wedding photo pictures of my parents and grandparents etc. It's weird being totally in the dark about everything except, where and when! Hey what about making a video slideshow online of your wedding pictures? VIMEO is a great site, and I don't think it takes long at all. I think you just upload your videos and music and it creates the show for you. I know how you feel about the weight, but do not worry! And you know how to drop 5 lbs in a week...I am sure you look fabulously happy and in love and complete!!!! Naturally I got on the to-do-list band wagon as soon as Amy F "graduated" from doing it, lol. But I can say it really helped. I actually completed every task on my list at the time besides buying his ring and that's because the jeweler says his finger should be measured in the summer to account for swelling. Anyway, my next big decision is invites but I have no clue what to put on/in them! I am leaning toward doing a boarding pass type invite, but I'll need to include a lot of info and adding pages will of course increase the price. So, then there's a pocketfold invite with inserts but I'm not sure what to include. Do we really need an RSVP? I'm sure it would be helpful to include info about the resort, airport transfers, TA, cocktail party, ceremony and reception info...am I missing anything? Sad part is some of that may change because my WC says that if my party goes above 50, we'll have to move from Plaza Zavaz (which is booked for both the party and reception). And go where is my question? Plus I have FI's cousin helping me with things and she says it's not proper etiquette to not send invites to those who we know aren't coming (esp since on the STD it said "formal invitation to follow"). Ok, I get this, but am I crazy to think that if people were interested in coming we would know about it? I mean who plans to come to a DW and not ask questions or express interest to the bride/groom or TA for that matter? Not to mention the fact that we are now @ 47 people coming (2 groomsmen still haven't booked not sure if they're bringing dates) and we only budgeted for 50! So basically I'll be buying 125 invites to send to people who have already made up their minds not to come or will change their minds and come at the last minute (which won't help matters much). I feel like I'm at a standstill because everytime I inquire about guest list with my TA it has changed. Last time I checked in with her it was 37. 10 people booked in less than a month and after the rsvp date mind you. OMG! As I'm typing this I get the call that the lady I was talking about just died. I guess all I just typed seems unimportant now. UGH this is sooooo sad!!! I am SO sorry!!! I was having a bad day about the wedding bawling my eyes out...then I felt guilty. So I know how you feel, but it is STILL you wedding and STILL important. It's all relative... Now in regards to invites...I can help you. I did passport invites AND pocketfold invites all by myself...They were not expensive at all. I have a fabulous paper store online (Card Stock, Vellum Paper, Envelopes, Metallic Cardstock, Invitation Cards Specialty Wedding Stationery - Paperandmore.com) that is VERY reasonable. Let me know how I can help you!!! You can email me if you like: [email protected] Quote: Originally Posted by amybermuda Ok girls.... This has been over a year coming and I am so happy its here but also sad that it means my wedding planning days are over. Its been a roller coaster of emotion, starting from when, 2 months after getting engaged, FI got transferred to Boston and we've been living apart for 9 months. I can't say I regret anything - even my stupid travel agent got us a beachfront massage and our guests on the short list for upgrades, so it seems it was just a hassle more than anything looking back. Very surreal now... Anyways, I will post my planning thread and review when I get back. Hope you all have a great week and think of me on May 29th!!!! Amy AHHHHHHHHH!!!!! SO excited for you!!!! AND PROUD that you lost allllll that weight!!! I can't wait to hear all about it when you return!! xoxoxoxoxoxo Quote: Originally Posted by KittenHeart Meredith - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Why don't you take over and do the to do list's for the thread if they helped, I think you'd be perfect for it Also, the best advice I ever got planning my wedding was, don't listen to anyone HAHA, catch 22 I know. I agree with Meaghan, I think it's actually rude to send invites to guests who have already told you they aren't coming. I didn't send invites to guests not coming, I plan to send them announcements when I get all my photos and I'll do like a photo announcement just letting everyone know we thought about them and they are included. Wendy - LOL! Dear husband, now that makes sense Destination husband I guess does too but it's funny the first thing your mind goes to. Amy - Holy cow girl... no words can describe how excited I am for you!!! You think you're excited now? You're in for a brand new feeling... I feel like a part of a special club and have felt something that only happy married Mrs. feel and can't wait for all the amazing bride to be's I know that are about to join <---- sooooooo cheesy! LOL! Sammyhawk - Congrats Mrs.! So glad your day was unbelievable! I thought the same thing on my wedding day, you know if it rains, it wouldn't have even mattered, I would have had a blast regardless. Besides rain on your wedding day is gooood luck! hahaha DEAR HUSBAND...that makes complete sense. I was thinking it was dedicated husband! SAMMYHAWK!! COngrats MRS! and welcome back!! Can't wait to see pictures!

Our airline went bankrupt, so we had to change our flight date, which meant we had to change our wedding date, so for a while we had no wedding date. ...and we lost our photographer. But our TA has compensated us, plus our guests and we have a photographer we like....whew! THIS IS AWESOME NEWS!!! SO glad it all worked out for you! I knew it would

Thank you so much girls!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I have been searching everywhere for this shoes. I think they are 5 inches with a 1/2 inch hidden platform, so it is like walking on 4.5 inches. They are actually not bad! I didn't see these shoes anywhere online...I checked every website I could think of...Bergdorf's, Saks, Barney's, Neiman's, Nordstrom, Net-A-Porter, etc. Finally, I called Bergdorf's and they had them in their actual store. For the girls that said they wanted Loubies but couldn't afford them...have you looked at any replicas? I have heard some of the replicas look IDENTICAL! Also, try ebay!

Also, check Barney's and Bergdorf's. Finally, I just called Bergdorf's and asked them if they had ANY fuchsia Louboutin's. And they sent me those! AHHHH Those are the ones I have been searching for the entire time! What color are you looking for? Saks has these AMAZING sparkly Jimmy Choos. Let me know what color you are looking for and I will send you some shoes I have saved.

I was also told they can perform up to three weddings a day. I didn't have that problem, BUT after planning a destination wedding for almost 9 months now, this doesn't surprise me. I think they are just on "Mexico time." JUst try not to sweat it. I have dealt with Melissa and she has been WONDERFUL!!!!! Now I am dealing with Esperanza (on-side coordinator). She has been so helpful and accommodating, but she "forgets" to email me sometimes and stuff like that. It drove my absolutely crazy in the beginning, but I have just gotten over it. Everyone says you end up making all the final decisions once you get down there. Don't sweat the small stuff and only worry about what you can control...because it does get very frustrating. BUTm it will all be worth it...you will have a blast with you friends and family all weekend, won't be "meeting" people at your wedding for the first time, and will have such a unique story and fabulous pictures to show for it. Hang it there!! Let me know how I can help! Oh, I am not sure about the 3 weddings. It is in my contract that they only do 1. They sometimes do two, but it has to be before 1 pm. I know they do 3 weddings per weekend though...

Sigh. I know I'm kind of being a baby about this. I think the thing that galls me the most is that I feel rail-roaded into using their photographers, who really aren't that great. Plus I just got done reading the "Boycott El Dorado" thread which got me fired up all over again. I really don't want to switch resorts. I love Azul Beach and it sounds like everything else is exceptional, it's just this one rule that's totally bumming me out. I'll start looking around for US photogs who may be willing to fly there and work with me on the package options...wish me luck! Hey some photographers will not charge you for the actual "package" if you fly them down and put them up at the resort. It may cost you $2000 to pay for their travel but they won't charge for anything else. Also, I remember Kittenheart's photographer had a special going on at one point (he may still have it). He didn't charge you to travel. He said as long as you purchased a package, he would not charge for travel. ALSO, email every photographer you like. A lot of photographers are trying to get into the destination wedding market, so they may give you a good deal, just to get some exposure. Just do your research!

We still don't know if we can have the same location for our ceremony and reception...when I talked to my TA yesterday her response was...."we are working on it and will let you know monday". Now I'm having to deal with many of my guests calling and asking what is going on and complaining about all of this. People are telling me to demand a full refund and cancel the whole thing! They don't understand that we have planned this wedding for 2 years and we will be out money if we cancel and book somewhere else...some people are even saying to cancel and do a wedding in toronto!! I really don't want to listen to other people's complaints about this right now. You are always gonna have those people that are so inconsiderate and don't understand! UGH! Don't let them get to you. You have worked so hard up to this point, so don't worry about what they say. Just stay focus on getting the answers you need. I think having Matt call will definitely help. I would give them a "target date" to give you this info, i.e. "we need this info by Tuesday, so we can email our guests or we will require a refund." Something like that. I think you just need to be really specific, firm, and to the point. So sorry you are dealing with this!

I got there Thursday, which of course was gorgeous weather...of course it would happen that way...beautiful the day BEFORE our engagement pics. ha But i went and got my hair and makeup done and all that. The had my BD pictures for 3 hours!!! She took over 500 pics, so hopefully, I can find 10 or so that I like. We did them at The Roosevelt hotel. I had maybe 5 outfits I think. If you have never been to that hotel, you need to go!! What a cool hotel! That night we just ate dinner at his brother's house and got up bright and early for our engagement pics. We went all up and down Bourbon, throughout the French Quarter, and up to Uptown. They went from about 9 to 2! SO MUCH FUN!! However, it was SUPER SUPER SUPER humid, so my hair was a DISASTER!! oh well, it will just have to look bad in the pics. It sprinkled for about 15 minutes and that was the only rain we encountered. whew! That night we ate at Martinique. Then Saturday, we went to Jazz Fest allllll day. The weather was actually great that day because it was cloudy, so not too hot, but we didn't see a single rain drop. We ate at Dominica that night and went out. Then we left Sunday morning...so glad cause I heard it was a torrential downpour all day. If anyone is looking for a fun weekend getaway, I highly recommend New Orleans. We go about 10 times a year. Super cheap flights on Southwest and sooooo much to do!!! My photographer was in heaven taking pictures with all the cool buildings and lights and colors and all. I will keep you guys posted on when I get to see the pictures!! My photographer is Lauren Harris Photography. Sorry for the novel!
