I wish I could be more help, but I am the SAME way! I have changed my mind a million times! My wedding is August 7th too at Le Blanc!! Maybe make out a pros and cons list and see if it is worth it. I would think that if you booked through an agent you would be able to transfer the down payments. But if the people have booked, I do not know. What about honeymooning at the new place you like? Have you compared them on trip advisor? EDR looks very cool!! It looks like they are very similar in cost. What is drawing you to Royal and what drew you to EDR?

I can deal with that SO proud of you!!!! Just remember to keep an open mind(like you said) and be empathetic to her situation. This will help her open up to you! You are definitely doing the right thing!!

I was very nice to him last night and I'm just trying to get him to add on 1 night to our AS stay and help us book our secondary honeymoon hotel. During his research in trying to quote us for the 1 additional room he discovered he made an error on our original price quote. He only ended up charging us for half of what he should've, so what should have been a $4,000 quote for 7 or 8 nights @ AS was only $2,000... so he said, "it's my mistake and now my wedding present to you since I'm will need to pay for this out of pocket". I told him I feel bad, that's a lot out of pocket and he said no, it's now his gift to us. All in all, it worked out but I just thought I'd share my interesting story of the day with you ladies That's awesome!! How mad would you have been if you thought it was $2000 and you got a bill for $4000?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I got so frustrated with DW.com, I ended up using one from this site. I tried to get my money back, but that did not work! ugh

I need to get pictures of me in the whole ensemble--darn, I guess I'll have to go try everything on again awww so pretty!! Can you come negotiate for me please?

My original plan of having a breezy chiffon beachy dress died quickly as soon as I started trying them on and realized how terrible I looked in the dresses. Especially at the last shop when the "Randy" of the shop told me "don't do it girl you look like a little pregnant bride" LOL, no more! So I ended up picking out a dress that I myself was suprised I grabbed. Even the chick that was helping me came over and was like "I'm suprised you picked this! He's my favorite designer" So my dress is nothing like most of the dresses on here, mine is what I love and that's all that matters It's totally not appropriate for a beach wedding (thank goodness I'm not getting married on sand) think? Don't worry, the one I love is NOT beach appropriate either! It is fitted with a trumpet skirt with tons of fabric. It is awesome, but probably more for a formal wedding. But we are both using the rooftop and stuff, so I think that makes it more appropriate. Don't you think?

Did you take pictures? I bet your ring is beautiful!

After I freaked out about having a destination wedding for the 100th time, I sm sticking to my decision. SO, after going through all 1200 pictures of Le Blanc on Treip Advisor, I am excited and getting stuff done!!! WHoo hoo!!!

Here are some resorts I looked at: Azul Sensatori, Aventura Spa/Cove Palace (they have a family and adults only side), any of the Palace resorts, Excellence, Secrets resorts...there are tons!!! I was SO indecisive about my resort. You can perform a search on this forum and find pretty much anything you need to know. Also, you can look on Trip Advisor and search "Riviera Maya" to give you a list of the resorts. Hope this helps!! Good luck!

I get to elimnate the step of having to sign my name which means less time during the ceremony, LOL! Also, it gives me a fabulous reason to run away to Vegas with our honor couples for the weekend to do a crazy tacky suit, short dress Elvis marriage in the middle of the night (FI is MOST stoked about this) hahaha When I came up with this idea he was the most excited and decisive I've ever seen him! OMG that's the BEST idea I have ever heard!!!!! I am doing symbolic too and was trying to think of a way to do it that would be cute and not make me feel like I have 2 wedding dates! I am totally stealing your idea! When are yall going? Is that kind of like a joint bachelor/bachelorette party?

KATIEEEEEEE- I cant believe your friend did that to you. that totally sucks and I so agree with nicole, wedding bring out the craziness in ppl. Im sorry that happen and i hope you two are able to patch things up. I truely belive that everything happens for a reason. Meaning , maybe this is a blessing is diguise. Maybe this is opening a door for you both to face some underlieing problem, fix them up and make your friendship stronger and better than ever and in the end, things will not just be ok, they may be better than ever either way, ill be praying for a happy ending for you whatever it may be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lindz- change resort? hmmmm.... I had a hard time choosing a resort that was affordable to my guest. It was important to us to have our closest friends and family there. And we knew because some of our friends are having hard times with money, that anything more would not make the trip affordable for them and we wanted them there bad enough we found somthing in the middle. But, no matter what, i feel like when planning a wedding, we cant please everyone. and no matter what we do or where we get married, even if it were at home at a local church, someone will have somthing to say about somthing.. We cant make EVERYONE happy and youve got to follow your heart.(*how chessy lol) and think about what your priorities are. We are approx 60days away from our day, and stillllll have ppl saying they are coming, but have not booked their trip and i heard a comment last week, my friends mother is joing us and she said " you just had to pick the most expensive resort didnt you" and was laughing... I thought that was so inappropriate of her to say to me. ESPecailly because AS is NOT the most expensive. ANd my dad makes a point to remind me about how alot of our family& friends have lost jobs and are hurting and dont have the money to book a mexico trip right before Christmas. THANKS DAD So I understand..... and we too had a hard time but feel like we really did take our guest into concideration.... Do you plan on having a big wedding?? OH and BTW i wanna be facebook buddys with you girls!!! Add me! amy morales, detroit michigan! OH and BTW again, we have lots of snowwww here, and I cant wait for sunny hot MEXICO I added you! yay!!! Thanks for the advice! I actually sent my girls THE cheesiest email (yall would think I was the biggest dork if you read it) this morning asking them to rank the following items in order of importance: Food, Affordability, Decor, Vibe, Rooms, Balconies...These were the main differences between the 2 resorts. Only 3 out of 11 said affordability, so who knows!!! You are right, you cannot please everyone. Geez! And this resort is THE ONLY THING that FI has cared about. He's like, I will be devastated if you change it. OK, I am rambling again...thanks for the advice AGAIN! I think we have already established this, but I could not remember...who is doing legal and who is doing symbolic?

I really appreciate all your advice! I think I am going to stick to my original plan. There is a reason that out of all the 100 resorts I looked at, I picked this one!! YES! It is FREEZING here too!!!!!!! I just went through a ton of beach pictures to warm me up! haha I will add you on facebook now! As soon as this damn privacy thing will go away!

The wedding coordinator is awesome too (literally responds in 5 minutes), but it is SUPER expensive for my guests. Probably $150 more per night per couple. I am trying to decide if it is worth it or not. They say it's "fine," but once again, the worrying begins!

On a positive note...I finished my Save the Dates AND chose my TA AND sent out all my bridesmaid things. However, I have my booking contract in my hand for my rooms and may change my resort, AGAIN! But I definitely have gotten most of the things on my list done. Thank goodness I have not printed my Save the Dates yet.

Yes, I am a Cancer! I too am driving my FI crazy, I'm sure. I have literally worried about every single decision I have made. Am I doing the right thing? WIll people like it? Will they get mad? Blah Blah! haha I think I have researched everything as much as I probably can! AND then my sensitivity comes into play...someone makes a comment about Mexico or my resort choice or anything, and I borderline freak out and worry all over again. It's a viscous cycle! haha
