Low Heeled Silver Wedge Sandals
daniepps replied to daniepps's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks for the links. I did see a several pairs on moonstoneweddings.com that I may be interested in. I have checked Amazon but I didn't really see anything that I liked. -
Double Wedding...sort of
daniepps replied to lowkeybride's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My FI's best friend asked if he and his FI could get married on our DW trip. I said yes at first but then I went back and said no. I decided that, like Karla, I didn't want to share the spotlight with anyone, nor did I want to have to make decisions with someone other than my FI about what we're going to do during that week. And I thought it would be hard to tell some guests they could come to our wedding but not theirs and vice versa. So since I've said no, they haven't even set a date yet which makes me think they may have been trying to get me to do all the planning and they were going to just jump in on the tail end. -
Non-legal ceremony ????
daniepps replied to Massagegirl's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think since it's not a legal ceremony you can do whatever you like and say whatever vows you like. There's a thread on here (I can't remember the name though) but it has several sample ceremony wordings on it. -
Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?
daniepps replied to jawedding's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I really wanted to buy the dresses but the dresses I wanted were being discontinued and had to be ordered right away and at the time I didn't have the money to pay for 5 dresses so I think I will probably pay for their jewelry and shoes and buy them a nice gift. -
I had not even thought about tipping until I read this and another thread. I think I'm just going to be tipping the wait staff/bartenders at the reception and the officiant but I won't be tipping the officiant $100. I'm bringing a photographer from home and I'm already paying for his airfare and the WC that I'm working with now is not the same one who is going to be at the resort. I won't even talk to the WC at the resort until I get there so unless the WC at the resort blows me away with something she does, I don't think I'm going to tip her.

Resorts to Avoid
daniepps replied to 2010 Bride!'s topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
I think working with a travel agent is very helpful. I had my mind made up on one resort and then my TA sent me info/pics of another resort which made me change my mind about the original resort. A TA can offer unbiased opinions of several different resorts. -
Patti's OOT Bags with Pics
daniepps replied to Patti's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
The towels are a great idea! -
I saw in a previous post that someone shipped their stuff to Mexico and it got held up in customs. They had to end up hiring a customs attorney to translate and negotiate to get their stuff out of customs so I wouldn't advise shipping anything before hand. In addition to the stuff getting held up in customs, one box was about $300 to ship.

This sounds like a huge catastrophe in the making. On my website and Save the Dates, I have made it very clear that the rooms are blocked off AT LE BLANC, and it is assumed everyone coming will stay there. However, I am starting to worry about people trying to save money and book elsewhere. Suggestions?!? Tough one! Maybe you can remind everyone that they would have to pay for a day pass every time they want to come to your resort. You could probably exaggerate the price of the day pass so people will decide they may as well stay at your resort.

My Hangover Kits

You have no idea what a chore it is to items in these colors! Of course, these colors totally do not work for the guys at all, but for the girls, they work just great! One "girl" item I found that I just love is a travel sewing kit. I found them for $1.69/ea. plus shipping at createforless.com. Ironically, they come in purple, green (and hot pink). I am so impressed with these kits - 6 spools of thread, buttons, needles, thimble, tape measure, scissors, safety pins. Such a great deal for the price! I highly recommend! =) I also came across these purple and green (how convenient!) flip-flop notepads. Found them at Wrapwithus.com for $1.99/ea., which was the cheapest I came across. For the guys, I am going with the obvious - deck of cards and likely a beach theme bottle opener of some sort. Haven't quite figured them out yet, since they are so "difficult!" Everyone is getting a cruise ship luggage tag (Kate Aspen favor) and a pair of Old Navy flip flops - purple or green for the girls, brown for the guys. And, finally, I work at a consumer products company and am throwing in some product for everyone - very useful product like toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, etc. I get this stuff dirt cheap (not free, unfortunately), so it's an inexpensive way to fill up the bags! ;-) Also, wanted to mention that I found very cute sterling silver pearl lariat necklaces for my two bridesmaids at EvesAddiction.com. Their jewelry is excellent quality for the price. Let me know if you have any questions about anything - more than happy to share further information. April Great ideas, especially the bottle opener! Guys are so hard to shop for.

I'm getting married legally in the US the week before because we're not going to get to the resort 3 full business days before the ceremony and I don't want to deal with the blood tests and most importantly I want my ceremony to be in English. I really don't care what my certificate says. The ceremony in Mexico will be the date I go by.

The DJ's that advertise on BDW are much cheaper than that. $500, $600-ish. Tiffany sent me the packages they offer and that was the cheapest price. I didn't know it was an option to bring in a DJ. I can do $500-600 but anything more than that is out of the question!
