But it has been almost a month and I have sent numerous emails. Oh no...as far as your coordinator not getting back to you...double check that he/she still works there. I know that an Atlantis bride whom could not contact her coordinator recently found out that she was let go. Also...do not write the website....call the head of sales....the very same people that booked your wedding. They are the ones that sent the information on the vendors in the first place. If that does not work...what about the Bahamian Tourism bureau? Good luck.

She seems very creative and I have no doubt she would come up with something unique. I'm just on a really tight budget so I haven't pursued anything yet... I have the opportunity to take some online graphic design courses for free so I'm actually going to start that in Feb. and I'm hoping I will be able to learn enough to create my own invites! Let me know what you end up doing! Jaime...I have a feeling that you will have found your calling with that graphic design course...you have quite the eye. I predict that when it's all said and done...you just might have your very own side business!! Thanks for sharing and keep us posted about your invites.

Montego Bay to St Lucia

I was thinking maybe a ferry or island hopper? Any thoughts. Boy do I feel your pain...I see that we are getting married the same day. I almost tore my hair out trying to figure out how to get from the Bahamas to St. Lucia the Monday after our wedding. In the end, we have an earlier than I would like flight out of the Bahamas with about an hour layover to switch planes but was able to make it work by flying into one airport in St. Lucia and out of a different one on another date. Take a look at Jet Blue...they fly to St.Lucia from some airports out of the South. Also...if the price is going to be too high to leave on your originally planned date, it may be worth it to stay another day if this works. I hope you are able to work it all out. Good luck. -

The couple did a booklet and the inside has a pocket like a library book where they put the RSVP card, the first page is like the formal invite and then the following pages tells the story of how they met, which was on a cruise ship... Pics: So my FI and I are doing a cruise wedding so I think it would be cool to, instead of telling the story of how we met like they did, having pages for each day of the cruise with info about the different ports kind of story book style like this invite. I would also love to some how coordinate it with the save the dates... so thats my vision!! Who knows if it will happen... but thats what I want damnit!! hahaha Jaime Hey Jaime, Since I had such good luck following your lead with my STD's, I was wondering if you made a decision yet on your invites? So far, I am leaning towards passport invites....but would be open to something else that was a little "different."

Just want to un-invite some family!
classadiva replied to creoletexan's topic in Just venting or funnies
Creole...so sorry you are going through this. Why is it that DW's seem to bring out the absolute worst in people? I've seen it in regards to my own weddding and the weddings of the many other brides that post here. Know that you are not alone. Enjoy your hubby and take the high road. The only people that will have regrets are those in your family that are making things more difficult than they have to be. -

As a former bridal gown consultant, don't shy away from dresses because they are not what you originally envisioned. We had a lot of plus sized brides, that wouldn't take this advice from me until they were nearly in tears after trying on dozens of dresses. Then I would ask, "are you ready to try on the dress I have in mind for you, now?". It sealed the deal 80% of the time, since I knew in my mind what would look great on them. You are probably right...this weekend I actually tried on a few A-line dresses...they didn't work for me...but I am expanding my search. Thanks Julie and Stela...for the advice. BTW JUlie...what a cutie-pie you have there!! So cute!!

From what I googled, there is no "day pass" you have to essentially "rent" a room for a day to get access. Is that right? No...they sell day passes. I was just there this August and they were selling them. The price is dependent upon what it is that you want to do. If you just do the tour called the Discover Atlantis tour, the cost is $35 adults, $25 kids 4-11. Basically it is a guided tour through "the Dig" which is a mini-museum of fakery about the mythical land of the Atlantis. You also get to tour the other marines habitats. You can get an beach day pass which basically entitles you to go to the beach anbd use the lounge chairs and such...the beach is public though...you just can't access it through the Atlantis...go in through the side of the RIU. The beach day pass costs $60 adults, $35 kids and includes lunch. If you want to use the water-park and rides and have full access to beach and pools, then you need to get the Aquaventure day pass $110 adults, $80 kids. It's worth noting that it might be cheaper to simply get a room if you have quite a few people that want a day pass. Note that the Comfort Suites has FULL access to the Atlantis and is a few feet from the Beach Towers at the Atlantis. The only thing is..the taxes and surcharges on Paradise Isalnd are ridiculous. You might want to price it out. Take a look at these links for more information. (Only after I agreed to purchase my Sottero & Midgley and the invoice was being drawn up was I permitted to take pics for my scrapbook)! Thank GOD I loved it then and I still love it now -- I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess! You know, I think a lot of headaches for both the bride AND the salon could be avoided if brides were able to take pics, "sleep on it" and carefully consider how the gown looks in photographs when preparing to make one of the most important garment purchases in their lifetime! And here is where a place like David's Bridal shines: so their gowns may not be made of the most luxe materials or by the best designers, but I have to say that it's pretty awesome that they DO NOT have an anti-photo policy; as a matter of fact, their consultants will actually TAKE the pictures for you if like! I had a wonderful experience there when I tried on about 10 dresses, took pics of all of them, and found my perfect AHR dress! MY FINGERS ARE CROSSED EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR YOU TO GET YOUR DREAM DRESS (AND LOTS OF PICS OF YOU IN IT BEFORE YOU PUT ANY MONEY DOWN!) Maybe try a few dresses on, and post a poll here on BDW if your torn between a couple of gowns? We may be just the unbiased audience you need! So true about these no photos policies....even the big ones have them. I went to Kleinfeld and they had the same policy...as did the store I purchased this dress from which is also a large bridal shop. We snuck and took photos the first time we went and I convinced myself that the pictures did not look good because we were rushed and I did not pose. Their policy was to only allow pics once purchased...you are right...this could have been avoided. It has occurred to me that perhaps one of the reasons that they do not allow pictures is because they know that if we see the pictures up-front, we might not be as in love with the dress. Such good advice above to try to take a picture if you can before purchasing. Thank you all for the encouraging words....I will definitely come back here and post with pics of the dress if I have any doubts the next go round. Also..thanks for the Alfred Angelo suggestion...will look into it although the shop I purchased this dress from had a quite a few of their plus-size samples.

Thank you all for the advice. I will take your advice and try to wait until January for the dress I want to try on. I'm just concerned because you always hear that you need to purchase your dress 6 months out. What I can't figure out is why the dress is available on-line for sale yet no one seems to have it in stock? It also has been on the maker's website for at least a month or so. I'm trying to regroup. I made an appointment at a local store this weekend that claims to have some plus samples in the styles I like. Susie...I would love to see your pictures and thanks for offering!! Carly...I went to David's Bridals but had no luck...they didn't have the style of dress I was looking for. Maybe I will have to also try other styles too as suggested.

Well, I have had a bit of wedding dress drama these past two days. I have spoken of the limited range of samples to try on for plus-sizes. I was lucky enough however to on my very first trip find THREE dresses that I really liked...one of which I loved. I had been all over the place looking for a dress and went in yesterday to purchase my dress...which I did. Then I had buyers remorse. I always knew that I did not have on just the right foundation as the dress hides nothing. Now that we had purchased the dress, they allowed us to take pictures. I hated the dress in earlier pictures but everyone told me that I looked great in it and that the pictures did not reflect how the dress truly looked. Well..when I saw the pictures from yesterday...I knew that there was no way that I could wear that dress. I thought about it all day and called the shop today. They said that they would charge me a $25 restocking fee and refund the rest....thank goodness. Now I don't know what to do. All along I saw another dress that I loved but no one has it for me to try on or they say that they will not have the dress in stock until the end of January...really cutting things close for my July wedding. Also, as a plus size bride...there are just not that many places to go to try on plus-size samples. I have thought about ordering my dress on-line, but what if it turns out to be a disaster? I also saw a dress from a store in China that I wanted to order for my TTD which I may order. My family says that I will wind up getting the very same dress....that it just was not fitted properly to me. I really thought that I had it together....I guess not!!

So sorry to hear that you are stressed about this. Can you re-sell these items possibly? I'm sure that the TA did not mean to steal your thunder. IMHO...what the TA did was a nice touch...if you did not mention the other issues, I would have said that you had a fabulous TA and were a lucky girl. Still and all....although it was the TA that gave your guests these things...I'm sure it all reflects wonderfully on you too!!! Your guests will think both you and your TA are great!! I hope that you can find something else to give your guests...this is just a minor bump on teh road to forever...hang in there.
