Congrats! We've just booked Melia Las Dunas as well- our date is the 28th of April. I really liked the look of the resort too, and all of the great reviews. My FI went to school with someone who was married there, and she said it was great. Here's hoping (fingers crossed). Good luck!

I really like your idea of having a scrapbook for people at your destination- you could have it on display somewhere when you have your AHR. Putting pictures in it will make it a really nice keepsake for you too. You could find something like that at Michaels or any store that has scrapbooking supplies. If you're looking for something more traditional for when you get home you could try a party supply store maybe, or even a florist/other wedding vendor- sometimes they'll have wedding supplies like guest books. Don't worry, you still have lots of time to shop around, just keep your eyes open anytime you're out shopping and you'll probably see something you like. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the good wishes everyone! We have settled on a date and a resort and my travel agent is trying to secure the date for us as we speak (fingers crossed). We're hoping for the end of April but we'll push it back to May if things are too full. Quote: I just wanted to say that you are not alone! I have just begun planning my dw as well. Congrats! Finding the perfect destination is really hard- you want to please each other but also want to try to please everyone else that you're inviting too. I don't have much advice, but I totally sympathize! The only thing you can do, I guess, is take your time, do your research and hopefully you'll find somewhere that you both love. You both may have to compromise a bit, but I'm sure you can find somewhere that makes you both happy- the world is a big place, after all.

Sending good thoughts your way- I'm sure it will blow over. We all have these fights from time to time. I think sometimes it's healthy to clear the air a bit. Your Mom's probably right, give him some space! I think it's kind of cute that he made you dinner even though you guys are fighting. Mel

Hi all, I've just started planning for our destination wedding and to be honest it's a bit harder than I thought it would be! I found this site last week and it has been a big help- thanks to everyone for sharing your experience and ideas! This board is such a great resource! We've settled on Cuba for a destination and are hoping to get something in late April or early May 2010 (we're just finalizing the details with our TA). I think I'll feel so much better once we have the date set. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me while I stumble my way through this Mel
