  1. I'm getting married June 11 at Paradisus Punta Cana and we're having a beach reception. I have really been going back and forth about whether or not to purchase the dance floor. We have 37 people booked and most of us really like to dance. We have reserved DJ Mannia. Our WC Teresa swears that we should NOT purchase the dance floor - that we don't need it. She says that they get slippery with sand and that the resort with smooth out an area and it will be obvious where people should dance. So I'd like to know what other people's experiences are dancing in the sand? Is it difficult? Will it make it less likely for people to dance? And have any of you booked a PPC beach reception without the dance floor? What was it like? Thanks for your help!!
  2. Well maybe I should have been more specific to say that I don't even have a copy of my itinerary. I don't have anything other than my receipt. I'm not expecting an actual plane ticket - just proof of what I purchased, you know?
  3. Thanks that makes me feel a little bit better. I do find this to be a strange practice though. My guests are projecting their anxiety onto me over this - and I already had quite a bit of my own. I just can't believe that it is not a standard practice to send them out immediately. As a TA, if you make a special request to get the itineraries from your supplier, how long would you expect it to take to receive them? And is it really that uncommon that people want their documents when they pay thousands of dollars?? <<<I guess my anxiety is still here>>> :-(
  4. I am not getting married until June, but I have had 13 people (including me) that have paid in full for our trips and none of us have received any travel documents (e-tickets, vouchers for transfers, hotel stuff etc). The only thing that we have received is a receipt that has extremely limited information on it - just price, departing date and time, number of days (it doesn't even have the traveller's names listed). I have asked my travel agent multiple times over the past week and she has told me that she is trying to get them from her supplier, but that typically they aren't sent out until a month before travel. Is this a normal practice? After years of being an internet only travel purchaser, I don't know whether or not to relax or freak out over the delay. My TA has a great reputation, but I am very uncomfortable about this situation. Any advice?
  5. Thank you guys so much! I really appreciate the support. So far I have three people saying Jamaica. I guess I have to check it out:-) Any experience with other areas? I have rain anxiety, so I have always imagined getting married under cover (so it doesn't have to be on the sand)!
  6. Thank you! These are just the types of suggestions I need. I need pictures and specific information. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  7. I am thrilled to have found this forum! Nelson and I just got engaged on Saturday. We are hoping to get married next May or June before hurricane season, and I've always wanted a destination wedding. My dream wedding would be to get married in an old rustic small chapel and have a reception at a resort or restaurant somewhere safe for rain (less stress) overlooking a gorgeous view of the ocean (not other resort visitors). I think my group will be around 40-50 and I'm hoping to do this on a budget of about 15K. The location has to be flight price friendly from Ft Lauderdale and DC (around $300 or less) and I am hoping to find options for less than $200/night for my guests if it isn't all inclusive. Can someone point me in the right direction? I will appreciate all types of suggestions, including those off the beaten path. Thank you in advance. I know I'm going to love this community. Tonja
