My parents were one of the last ones to book Don't worry!!

Help!!! lol Megan...the template I have for the list and times of events is on my mom's computer which just crashed the other day so unfortunately I can't post it for you However, it was very, very east to do! She did it in Microsoft Word. If you need help figuring it out, let me know and I will try to re-create it and post for you. I'll post a picture of it... Also, I got chocolates from Ah Cacao, which is located in Playa del Carmen for favors for my wedding. It was a great suggestion from somebody on here (sorry, I don't remember who!!) and it was a hit. I contacted them through their website before I left for Mexico and paid for the chocolates by paypal. I arranged with Ah Cacao for the chocolates to be delivered the day before the wedding and they were delivered right to the hotel concierge with no problems. They only charged $8 for delivery fee and a taxi ride to Playa costs $50, so it was a great deal! They have lots of stuff depending on how much you want to spend. Did you get stuff for your OOT bags yet? One thing that I put in mine that was used a lot in Mexico and at home was chapstick. I got mine from this website ( Cocktail Lip Balms ) and the flavors were so good I got margarita and pina colada - yum! I'll post a pic of my OOT bag contents for you too so you can see what else I put in them. Hope that helps! Wedding Events: OOT bag contents: ]

I tipped the DJ, photographer (although I read in many places that they don't expect tips), the videographer, the wedding coordinator, and I think that my dad tipped the Mexican trio because I forgot about them when getting together my tips. I put all of the tips in labeled envelopes for each of the people that I wanted to tip and then had them all with me to give out at the end of the night. I was so afraid I would forget somebody! You must be getting so excited! 2 weeks will fly by!
  5. This is what I did with the outside of mine... I used heavy scrapbooking paper to make a band and then cardstock to make the square. The band didn't go all the way around the box; I glued it to the inside of the box. I used the square to write the names of the guests. I had a few friends who I wanted to invite with a guest and I had nowhere to write this. Also, I felt like it made the invitations a little more personal. Hope this helps

I bought chair sashes on ebay for less than $1 per sash. My wedding was Feb 26th and Ana put the sashes on for me for the ceremony and the reception for me at no charge. It seems ridiculous to have to pay for them to do that!

My wedding is in about two months and you would think they could respond to an email. I don't care how busy Ana is or how many weddings they have booked, they are a resort and they are providing a service, so they need to hire more people to match the demand!!!! (Sorry... I am just tired of being nice about it because it is sooooooo frustrating!!!) I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be to wait soooo long for an email reply...I used to get frustrated waiting 1-2 weeks! Anyway, I would definitely save your email that says you can keep Juan as your photographer. If you booked your wedding and chose your photographer prior to Adventure Photos being at the resort, they should honor what you chose! With something as important as wedding photography, they can't expect you to change your plans just because they changed their rules!

Do any of you know if we have the choice for Juan Navarro still for the ceremony photography? It seems like the recent weddings have all been shot by Adventure Photos. Thanks! If you are using the photographer that comes with the package, you have to use Adventure Photos. They are the photographers that are located at the resort. You also cannot substitute anything (including video) for the photography included in the package. Ana told me that the resort management wants their photographers only to be used for the packages but that they do not restrict other photographers because they know that photography is important for the brides. So, you could probably hire Juan Navarro on your own for your pictures, but that would be all on you and not included in the package. The Adventure Photos photographers are really great though!!

I think that would be true for the cocktail hour also...white linens. We had ours on the Desires Terrace and it was all lounge furniture so we didn't need table linens. I think that it looked nice with the white linens at the reception...I had white linens, orange flower centerpieces and light blue chair sashes.

The honeymoon suite is a higher category room so I would think that you should definitely get the package for free! Just make sure that you talk to the concierge the first day you get there to schedule some of the things in the package (private dinner, breakfast in bed, etc.) We didn't realize that we had to do that until we were there for a couple of days. They also won't automatically send the flowers and champagne to your room unless you talk to the concierge first. The honeymoon package was great! We had so much fun with it Quote: Originally Posted by Megan24 Okay my wedding is May 21 2010 and all I have done is confirmed my date and time. What you have done is all that you need to do before you go. I would make a list for yourself of everything that you want to talk to Ana about when you meet with her though...menus, flowers, extra decorations, music (if you are using sound system), etc. This way, when you meet with her, you will be very organized and get all of your questions answered. I didn't write this stuff down and there were things that I forgot when I met with her. Oh, and if you have any of your own decorations, favors, etc. you should bring them with you to give to Ana when you meet with her and write down for her exactly what you want done with them. Also, she will take you around and show you the options for ceremony sites and reception/cocktail hour sites if you haven't totally decided on a location for something. I finalized all of my details with her once I got there, not before. Hope this helps!

Just looking for advice. I would definitely trust the resort photographers for the entire wedding. They were really so nice and they know the resort so well, they would probably come up with some great spots for taking pictures. Plus, they are at the resort everyday so if you wanted to meet with them in person before your wedding, you could do that too. I think they are great. I guess you would just have to figure out how much more they would charge for the extra time. I know that when you buy prints from them it is $15 per picture. I'm sure I have a lot more questions, but those are the most recent one's that I have been thinking of. Thanks! I don't mind answering questions at all! 1. I didn't have a sand ceremony so I can't help with this one 2. My officiant was my cousin so I didn't use the one from the resort. 3. I wrote my own ceremony - well, I put it together from a bunch of ceremony samples that I found online. I can post it if you would like... 4. I had the buffet and they labeled everything on the buffet (with really nice cards) so everyone was able to see what they were eating. I am getting married January 15th, 2011, and she is telling my FI for us to change the wedding because our guests will be miserable. I have already sent out STD's and some of our guests have booked air. I have been to Mexico in February several times and never thought it was cold, but a little windy at night. I was planning on handing out Pashminias anyways. Does anyone think that mid January it will be too cold to get married on the beach and have an evening reception on the pool deck? Did anyone have any complaints when they got married on the pool deck that it was too cold or too windy? Or has anyone gone to Riviera Maya in January?? I have been trying to google the temperatures and it is coming up 83 high, 63 low and that doesn't seem too cold. I need advice! When I was there in February, it was a little chilly at night, probably in the 60's and windy. During the day, it was in the high 70's-80's. I did not think that it was freezing at all! My ceremony was on the beach and my reception was on the pool deck and the day I got married it was extra windy. Everyone had such a good time! It would have been nice if it weren't so windy, but nobody complained about it. I was there for 7 nights and then right next door at the Excellence for 5 nights and the temps were about the same the whole time. The Mexican people we spoke with, however, said that the temps were unseasonably cool and that it is usually warmer than what we experienced. I would have no problem going back in February. Actually a group of our guests are already trying to plan a trip back for next February. I think you will be fine! And if you are giving out pashminas, then your guests will definitely be fine! We are wanting to do a slideshow- where is the best place to do that and have any of you done that? Finally My flowers are going to be a mix of dahlias, callas, tulips, etc... she has quoted me $60 for my bmaids and $150 for mine... If I am getting the Utlimate PKG- how does that work- if my bouquet is supposed to me included? Are you getting DJ Doremixx (Ivan)? If so, he will ask you for a playlist of songs. He will want to meet with you before the wedding and you can give it to him then. He told us that he could get any song that we wanted him to play. We didn't really have a playlist for him and told him just to play what he thought would be fun and he did a fantastic job! He is very accommodating and I am sure he would work with you. We had our cocktail hour on the Desires Terrace. It is outside and set up like a lounge with couches and tables. If you were having a dinner with tables, there is also a terrace in front of the entrance to Desires, which is also their back-up spot in case of rain for the ceremony. They could easily set up tables for a dinner there. I am not sure about the slideshow - I didn't do that and didn't see any being done. However, if you were doing that the night of the rehearsal dinner, there would be space for that on the Desires Terrace where all the lounge furniture is, I think. As far as the flowers, I picked my bouquet from what was included. Unfortunately, I think that if you want something different, you will have to pay for it. Although, maybe you could negotiate a little with Ana and get extra bouts or a bridesmaid bouquet or something like that since you are not using the bouquet that is included.

One more thing that I shouldn't have stressed about though! The kids that were there were really well behaved and I did not feel at all like they were taking over the resort. There was plenty of room at the pools and on the beach. There was more than enough room in the jacuzzis for everyone. I was there at the same time as Carina and the resort was at full capacity. 20. I just thought of something that I wanted to let everyone know...if you send your deposit via credit card, make sure you call your credit card company and let them know you are paying for something in Mexico. I didn't know this and the first time I tried to pay my deposit, it got declined for suspicious activity. Same with when you actually go to Mexico...call all your credit cards you plan to use and let them know you'll be there. Hope that helps somebody

Decorated at all I had my cocktail hour at Desires. It was not really decorated but I didn't really care about that because there wouldn't have been much to decorate anyway. I saw a few other weddings while I was there. One cocktail hour I saw was in the grass, to the right of the barefoot grill (if you are coming from the beach). That one had red and pink linens on the tables but I didn't notice any other decorations. The bright linens looked really pretty though in the grass. Another wedding I saw had the cocktail hour on the pool terrace. There were just white linens on the cocktail tables and no other decorations. I wouldn't have been a huge fan of this location for myself because it was very very public. Quote: Originally Posted by MaR That sounds really good!! I don't remember everything that was included but some of the things were...a candlelight dinner on the beach, a facial and body scrub at the spa, breakfast in bed, a beautiful flower arrangement, champagne and fruit upon arrival (we got this twice!). Originally we were very excited to get a room with a plunge pool but I have heard so many people on the FB fan page say that they are too cold to use, so I guess we are moving away from that idea... Also, did you get your room upgraded (ya know, cause you were the bride and groom!) or was this the room you booked? I know you were there when it was pretty (if not completely) full, so not sure how much wiggle room there would have been to upgrade you, but just curious. The room we got was what we booked. I think it was perfect and didn't feel like we needed anything better! We were #2304 - if you are looking at the resort from the beach, it was the building on the left. Looking from the beach, the front of the building that sticks out are the ocean front rooms. We were the first room in that building after the ocean front rooms. When laying in the bed, we could see the ocean perfectly. We were facing in towards the pools. It was nice being at the end because we only had 1 neighboring balcony. The room was really so nice. We had thought about booking a plunge pool room too. In fact, we did book one and then changed our minds and upgraded. I am glad we did change our minds because one person in our group had a plunge pool and he said that the water in it was freezing! They would probably be nice in the summer when it is really really hot! Oh, and we also did not get the extra room that comes with the ultimate package since the resort was fully booked That was a little bit of a disappointment because it would have been nice to have 2 rooms to get ready in. Ana was late meeting everyone in the lobby and getting them to the ceremony site, so the ceremony didn't start until close to 5. We got all of our pictures in but it was a little rushed because Claudia was worried about the lighting. It wasn't a big deal, but if I had to do it again, I would have made the ceremony a little earlier - maybe 4:15?? Sooo, my suggestion would be to start the ceremony maybe 1/2 hour sooner than what you originally thought and then if things run late, you won't be stressed. And if things are on time, you will just have more time for pictures!!
