I also just looked at the pictures and have the same feelings about the gazebo I always wanted to get married on the beach, so I think that I will stick with that! The beach bar does look great...I want to be on one of those swings right now!! I also asked Ana about pictures of reception locations but she said that she won't have any pictures until the resort opens. I know this was a topic before but I just wanted to ask...has anyone decided what they will do about a photographer - use the resort photographer or get someone else? I have to make a decision about this really soon and I just don't know what to do!

February 2010 brides
Laura22610 replied to shellk's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hi everyone, I am getting married Feb 26, 2010 at Dreams Riviera Cancun. I have my dress, bridesmaids dresses, a place for my AHR in April, and working on invitations this weekend and hopefully sending them out on Wednesday I am making them myself so hopefully all goes as planned! I am also trying to decide what to do about a photographer - use the one that comes with package or find someone else... Lots to do!!! -

So can I ask, any thought to photographer or dj/music yet? I am wondering if I should be getting those booked already. Also, do you think you will have reception on the beach or wedding gazebo? I can't decide until I at least see a picture of the gazebo. And yes Noonie, Rod on facebook has been a wealth of information. So far I am very impressed with the customer service there. I can't wait until it actually opens and we can get some real feedback! Hi Carina, I have not booked a photographer yet. I am so unsure what to do about that. I contacted a couple of photographers - one was not available and the other I think was a little more than I was hoping to spend since he comes for 2 days. Are you going to use the photographer from Dreams? Do you know of any photographers? I have been trying to ask Ana how much extra it would be to have the photographer for longer than the 1 1/2 hours that comes with the package and how much extra it is for each additional picture, but I haven't gotten an answer to that question yet (maybe she doesn't understand what I'm asking?) I really want to make sure I have great pictures! As far as the music, I think that I am going to do the ipod. It seems like, from what I've been reading, that dj's can be hit or miss in mexico and since I am not having a huge amount of people, I think the ipod will be good! I would also like to see pictures of the gazebo before I decide about the ceremony, although I am leaning towards the beach since I have always wanted to get married on the beach I am kind of clueless on a timeline of when things should be done!

Congrats Stephanie! I am definitely a little nervous about going to a brand new resort but I am excited too since everything will be nice and new! I really have heard mostly good things about the Dreams resorts and my travel agent recommended Dreams for weddings, so I am optimistic that everything will be great!

I sent out an email "save the date" 2 weeks ago, which links to our website which has info on how to book. I would like to get the formal invites out asap. HOw many people are you expecting? Carina, I agree, it is great! I don't have my invites out yet. I am hoping to put them together this weekend and have them out by Monday or Tuesday. I am making them myself (with the help of my mom), so hopefully everything goes as planned I didn't send out "save the date"s at all... I really didn't have time though, but everyone who is going to be invited knows what we are doing, so I think that's okay. I think we are inviting 60-70, but we already know a lot who won't be able to come to Mexico. So, I am hoping to have 30, maybe 40 at the most? How many are you having? Are you doing any planned activities for everyone who comes?

Carina - I am getting married on Feb 26th, 2010! I guess we will see each other there I am also trying to decide what to do about a package. I think that you have to choose a package to get a contract but you can change the package? I was trying to work out the numbers and what I came up with was that if you are having a private reception, it definitely is more cost effective to get a package!

Thank you all for your well wishes I have already found lots of help and ideas!!

I am going through a TA, so I am not sure how to get a block of rooms. My wedding is in February and for 4 nights, I think the price is a little less than $1200 with airfare so far. My TA is still working on it and he didn't break down the price for me but I am thinking the airfare is probably half and the room rates are half. Hope this helps a little. It is very stressful coordinating all of this!

Of course since the wedding package comes with a photographer I am gong to research these. I have read a few posts on Juan Navarro but haven't heard anything about Sweet Caribbean Photography. Has anyone read any reviews on this? I received a similar email from Ana about the photographers. She told me the photographer from Sweet Caribbean Photo was Daniela. I tried to search on google and on here for reviews of Sweet Caribbean/Daniela and couldn't find any. I am not sure what I am going to do about a photographer. Ana also sent me the pricing for the photography packages. I just wish the packages allowed more time with the photographer...the longest time I saw was 3 hours. I love pictures and want to have a ton!

I was also trying to decide about my wedding package...does it get really expensive to add things on to the basic free package? I am asking because there are a few things in the other packages that I don't need, such as the hairstyling and make-up, and possibly the photographer.

We don't want to make a big deal of the legal ceremony at all....just to make it seem as though the beach ceremony is the "real" thing. Do you happen to know if the resort requires a marriage certificate in order to have a symbolic ceremony. I have heard that some resorts require this and therefore we would have to do the legal ceremony before going to Mexico. Just wondering if anyone has looked into this yet. I also would like to have a symbolic ceremony instead of a legal one. I was wondering who does the ceremony and would they let you have your own officiant (someone who is not affiliated with the resort)?
