I have been a little absent lately because of Christmas shopping. I actually just started it the other day because I was so preoccupied with wedding stuff! It seems like Christmas just popped up on me! My wedding colors are blue (like a ice or light aqua) and orange. I don't really have any pictures...it's all kind of in my head?! My BM's dresses will be the blue color and the flowers will be orange. Hopefully it turns out okay! So, I found this review today. It's very thorough and has good stuff to say! No mention of weddings though... Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com

Oh no! Hopefully they can figure something out by February because I definitely do not have the option of changing my location! I was just talking to a co-worker today about the privacy issue and she was telling me that she went to Couples Swept Away in Jamaica last year and that the weddings there were also very close to people hanging out on the beach. However, she said that they cleared out the lounge chairs close to the wedding and they had someone blocking people from going too close to the wedding. That seems like a reasonable request to ask of Ana at the very least. Maybe I am missing something but why wouldn't we be able to have our ceremony at the beach location of our choice? If there is a more private area on the other side of the resort, couldn't we ask that they set-up the ceremony there? I really really wish that I could have done a site visit! I think that I will also email Ana with my concerns. February is coming up so quickly, I can't even believe it! Thank you, Tara, for your honest review. It really helps to know these issues so that we can address them with Ana!

Yum! I love hot chocolate! I just got some from Crate & Barrel (seems like a weird place to buy hot chocolate!) and it was really, really good. It was a little bit pricey but totally worth it. They had a few different kinds and I got the "Winter". It has ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and some other spices in it so it is a little different than traditional hot chocolate. The brand is Chuao Chocolatier.

We are planning on white linen but I wasn't sure where we could get them from. Anyone have ideas? Thanks!! I think that our groomsmen will be wearing tan linen pants and white shirts. My FI got a tan linen suit from here... Linen Suits and it is really nice. The jacket was too big and we exchanged it with no problem...they were really good to deal with. There was also a thread on here, I think, about this place... Ana never sent me any photos of the terrace location. Do you have some? Thanks! Hi! You have to have 150 posts to be able to open attachments. The beach location apparently has changed because there were some complaints about the lack of privacy of the other location. Although I haven't been there, from what I gather, the new location isn't totally private either but it is an improvement. There is also the gazebo but that is definitely not private since it has the beach bar on one side and the pool on the other. As for photos, if you look back in this thread, there were some photos posted of the different locations for the reception...maybe around page 50 or so? Hope this helps!

Hi Sarah...Congratulations! I am also getting married at Dreams Riviera Cancun in February. There has not been anyone on here who has gotten married there yet but there is lots and lots of good information in this thread... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-thread-47576/

Cancun pictures by jenwinston - Photobucket Jen - Thanks so much for the pictures! Are the beach ceremony pictures of the "new" beach location? The review on facebook was very helpful as well! It made me feel a lot better. Sounds like she had a great day and that maybe she had the same worries as us beforehand.

My sister stayed at The Royal Cancun and she LOVED it. She said it was a fantastic resort...I'm sure the one in Playa del Carmen would be just as great. I thought about going to Playa del Carmen also but I had heard really good things about Excellence Riviera so I just went with that. I didn't realize it was so close to Dreams when I chose it!

Just curious what everyone else is doing.... I am staying 7 nights at DRC (4 nights before wedding and 3 nights after) and then going to Excellence Riviera for 5 nights. I think Excellence is very close, if not right next door to DRC.

But now that I am back and keep reading up on the reviews, I am liking it less and less. I'm letting the reviews influence my opinion even though I was there and thought it was nice. I need to not do that! There is no turning back. 29 people have already booked. We need to keep reminding ourselves that even the best hotels get some bad reviews. This is why I was having such a hard time picking a resort. Everytime I found one that I liked, I came across some bad reviews and would change my mind. I think that is why I liked Dreams RC...there were no reviews and so I couldn't get discouraged. As it is the resort still has way more good reviews than bad reviews. My hope is that the few growing pains it has are worked out by May. The resort is beautiful (at least I think it is). Since they have so many weddings there, they should figure out a better place for the ceremony or a way to make it more private. So funny...that's exactly why I picked this resort too! I spent countless hours going through millions of reviews of different resorts and every time I read a bad review, I thought, nope not that one. I have 30 people booked already also, so it's not like I can change my mind now either! I was thinking that maybe the bad reviews were coming since it was a holiday week and their first time being really busy...they should have more practice handling that with Christmas coming up, so hopefully they work things out. For now, I think I am going to stop reading trip advisor and stressing myself out...ha! Thanks for all of your input...it's very helpful!

I just read all of the reviews on trip advisor and now I am really really really nervous! Although, the biggest complaint seemed to be about kids and someone said that kids are staying free until the end of the year. I know that during the time I will be there, kids are not free because my sister had to pay for my nephew. So, hopefully this will not be a huge issue. SDbeachgirl...I will be very interested in hearing your reply from Ana about saving the palapas the day of the wedding. I think that is a great suggestion! Does the new beach location have the climbing wall and trampoline in the water as a backdrop? I read something about that on trip advisor. And one more question- After your trip....are you still happy with your decision to have your wedding there?

There have been many concerns/reviews form people recently about the location of both the gazebo as well as the lceremony. Specifically the concern is lack of privacy as both sites are surrounded by palapas and beach chairs. I was wondering if Dreams had any plans of trying relocate either of these ceremony spots, or if there are any other more private options available? I share this concern and while DRC is my first choice for my wedding I fear I may have to begin looking elsewhere if this is not addressed. ---------------- FROM ANA Thank you for your feedback, we have the location on the beach relocated in one side of the beach, there is some palapas but is not to many people there. For the wedding gazebo there are people at the pool but is not next to the gazebo. As soon as I have the wedding in the new location I will send you the pictures so you can make a decision. Aahhh...this is making me so nervous! My wedding is in 3 months! I hope they can do something by then.

You can mix and match the flowers that are pictured in different bouquets. If it is not in any of the pictures you would have to pay extra. So for instance, the white calla lilie is included but you would have to pay extra for a different color that is not pictured. I haven't decided what I want yet either. I thought I wanted white calla lilies but then saw some photos with bright orange bouquets that just really popped out and looked so pretty. I guess I will have to keep looking at photos to make my decision. First of all, thank you soooo much for your review...it was really helpful!! It was so nice of you to take the time to give us all some more great information. And thank you for the clarification on the flowers. I think, unfortunately, I will probably pay extra for flowers. I really want to have orange flowers, since that is how I planned on using orange as an accent color. I was thinking of having a bouquet of orange roses mixed with orange calla lilies for myself and then have my girls carry orange calla lilies. Hmmm...I definitely have some decisions to make here! One of the reasons I chose this resort was so my nephew, who is 8, would be able to be there for my wedding. Also, I thought that some of my friends might want to option of being able to bring there kids. It turns out that my nephew is the only child coming. I hope that they make some changes where kids are concerned. I don't mind kids at all, but sometimes it is nice to have a place to go where it is only adults. And I am a little disappointed about the beach ceremony location I had always planned on getting married on the beach. I really don't want random people in my pictures or being up close and personal watching me get married. I agree that they should be able to save a private area for those of us wanting to get married on the beach! I just have one question for you...Are the lights under the tables for the reception extra money? Do they light up the table? Just trying to get a picture in my head of what they would look like

I was thinking about having my BM's carry calla lilies. I guess I will have to check with Ana to see if any of the bouquets can be changed at all. I would probably go with #7 though if they can't be changed. Except, I would want it in a different color...do you know if we can get the bouquets in different colors than what is pictured?

I have the menus for the buffets too, if you want me to post them. I am not sure if you are allowed to trade things in the different options.
