  1. Congratulations!! You've come to the right place for planning!
  2. I think in lieu of a whole OOT bag, we're going to have a welcome letter with a brief introduction of all our guests. Something like a facebook so they won't feel like jerks if they forget someone's name. With that letter/info we are going to include personalized koozies that say something like "To have and to hold and keep my beverage cold." Figure those who don't drink can still put their diet cokes in the koozie. Of course this is an idea I got off this forum!!
  3. Wendy Hicks from Wright Travel is fantastic! She helped us book 80+ people at the Barcelo Palace!! And most of those people booked on one day. Ouch...
  4. Gorgeous photographs! Thank you for posting them. We are going to have Vincent too!
  5. Dreams Riviera Cancun is a beautiful site for a wedding!! And I LOVE those swings at the beach bar! We wound up going with the Barcelo because they have open air restaurants that will serve as good "outdoor" options in event of rain! Which is somewhat likely b/c we are getting married in August! But this new Dreams resort looks AMAZING!!! Good choice!
  6. You've come to the right place!!! The photographs from del sol photography are especially helpful in getting a look at all the resorts through the lens of other weddings. Have fun!
  7. But the white bow with a brooch also sounds like an amazing look! And generally say white if you're going for a more classic look.
  8. Hi Calgrl! We just had 80 people book through one travel agent to stay at the Barcelo. Everyone was able to get on one contract and the rate includes transfers between the airport and hotel. I think many tour groups will offer transfers. We thought it was pretty important considering the hotel is at least 45 minutes from the airport. The travel agent we used was Wendy Hicks who works with Wright travel agency (the agency that sponsors this forum) and she is fantastic. Booking went as smoothly as things can go when you're trying to get 80 people to submit deposits by a certain deadline! You can get in touch with a travel agent from Wright Travel by clicking on the add up at the top of the forum page.
  9. Oh wow Sandra! Cannot wait to see more! Those photos look amazing. Did you fly your photographer out from Cabo? Did the hotel require that you pay for a guest pass for an outside photographer, or do they require that you book a room for him (and any assistants)? Also, what about the person who did your makeup? Did you have to buy a guest pass for him? Thank you!!
  10. Congratulations!! You're at the right spot for finding information and experiences!
  11. My fiance worked pretty hard on our website... excited to finally have it up and running!!! Allison & Gabriel 2010
  12. Is it still possible to join this season? I desperately need the motivation for my August wedding!!! Weight watchers hasn't really been working... I need you girls to hold me to it!!

  14. We booked with Del Sol photography. Check out their work: del Sol Photography Another great photographer in the area is Claudia Rodriguez. Elizabeth Medina is a third, but I know she takes August off. All of them do really great work. But they are "outdoor vendors" so the Barcelo requires that they stay for a night at the resort "as your guest." The reason for this policy is because the Barcelo has contracts with certain photographers. They will allow photographers who come "as your guest." The policy seems to change from time to time, and from what I understand from other brides, they would charge $300 to bring in an outdoor vendor. I think now they either require you to pay for the photographer to stay a night in the hotel, or you pay for a guest pass. I'm not entirely certain... I probably need to find out!! Photography is one of the most important things for me, so we're willing to splurge a little.
  15. Congratulations!!! You came to the right place! This forum provides a wealth of information and, perhaps more importantly, a wealth of reassurance that your wedding day will go smoothly!
  16. Welcome! My fiance and I are getting married there on August 7th, 2010. There is a whole thread of information on the Barcelo Palace. Just do a search on the Barcelo Palace, and it should come up. The thread can also be found by looking under "Riviera Maya and surrounding area" found on the wedding forum's main page. A recent bride just posted an excellent review on her wedding at the Barcelo Palace. Have fun! This website has DEFINITELY made things easier and has provided a WEALTH of reassurance!
  17. Congratulations!! This is definitely the BEST place to get information when planning a destination wedding. You'll probably find plenty of information if you do a search on the topic.
  18. Congratulations Sandra!!! Cannot wait to hear more in the review and see your photographs from Claudia!!!!! Brides keep saying "don't worry" but it's reassuring to hear it said once more!! Thank you!!
  19. We want our maid of honor and best man to be the witnesses on our marriage certificate. They are meeting us in Mexico from other countries / places in the world, so won't be able to make a legal ceremony in the US AND THEN go to Mexico. So we're doing the legal thing in Mexico... despite the blood tests and wait periods... Maybe we'll just do a quick and easy legal ceremony the night before the spiritual ceremony. I want at least some of the wedding to be in english...
