We were married at the Barcelo on January 28, 2010. We had no problem having our photographer from Claudia Rodriquez Photography take our photos. My Travel Agent booked a room for the photographer and his assistant for one night in the Tropical. It was the same price as the beach/caribe. We only booked them one night and I believe it was about $269.00 Cdn. I had double checked this with Claudia before hand and was told as long as they were a "guest" and booked for at least one night it would be no problem. They never did end up using the room, so the photographer gave the key back to us to give to our guests to use. Worked out great!!

I am getting married on January 28, 2010 and was told my reception options were the Palmeris Grill or Captain Morgan's. Can anyone tell me the difference, other than that Captain Morgan's has a boat for a bar? I can't find any good pics of Captain Morgan's on any website. We have a group of only 25 so I don't really need a huge space but still want it to be nice. Is anyone having their reception right on the beach?

Hi Pebbles, I was actually born in Kitchener and now live in BC. We're planning on January 2010 and the price I got was about $1,300.00 plus taxes out of Kelowna, BC and I think the 26th was free. This was for the Colonial and through Air Transat. The wedding packages I was referring to are actual wedding packages, as in ceremony and reception, etc. They are similar to the Barcelo's and quite a bit cheaper but I think it's a new thing for Air Transat and I was wondering if anyone else had used an Air Transat wedding package. I hate to be a guinea pig on my wedding day. lol

I asked this question in an earlier post and didn't get a reply so I thought I'd ask again. Has anyone who is flying with Air Transat booked one of their wedding packages that is offered at the Barcelo. Apparently it's a new thing that Air Transat offers this year and it seems a lot less expensive and I was wondering if anyone had experience with this.

vlynnw, Are you bringing a photographer from home or are you using one in the Mayan?

I'm a little confused on the whole photographer thing. When I contact Barcelo they say no outside photographers at all but I hear you can book a room for your photographer and they are considered a guest? Do you then still have to pay the $300.00 to Photo Caribe? and won't the resort recognize the photographer and that they are only a guest for one night? I hate to pay to have a photographer there and then be told they can't take pictures. Sorry, but it seems to be different for everyone...... Thanks for the help!!

Hi There, I'm from BC, Canada and I've been engaged for a while but we just recently decided to do a DW in the Mayan, probably at the Barcelo. We are thinking January/February 2010 even though we know it's not much time to plan. Hi Everyone, I am new to this board but have been reading past posts. My fiance and I are considering getting married at the Barcelo in January or February of next year. Kind of short notice, I know. I have two questions. Do you think this is just too short of notice for people to commit? We would probably be inviting 20-30 people. Also, has anyone who is travelling with Air Transat talked to their travel agent about the three new wedding packages that they are offering at the Barcelo They seem quite reasonably priced if you have 10 or 12 people flying out of the same place, etc, but I wonder if you'd get the same level of service from the people at the hotel if they're not getting all of the $$. Txs in advance.
