My stuff is at home and I'm at work but I don't think there's that much of a difference in the prices from last year - I think I booked the Silver Package though. I'll check when I get home. I'm thinking I'll have about 20-25 people. My responses aren't all in yet. What I did notice on the 2010 package is that it says "beach reception" so I'm wondering what that would look like as opposed to having the reception in the restaurants. I love the pictures from Blue Lagoon where everyone seems to have done it - has anyone had or seen a beach reception? I've only seen 2008 rates!! The Silver Love Package is what I am interested in too. Never heard about the "beach reception" option....that sounds like a nice setup too.
  3. FI and I are both born and raised NYers (we are both from Queens). We live in MD now though. All the family is still in NY so I am still there very often. My second home is the NJ Turnpike!

It was nice and simple, which is what I'm looking for as well! Jerseykitten, You mentioned you are doing a vow renewal package too. Has Nina or Lori provided you with any 2010 pricing yet? How many guests do you expect to have? I can't seem to get any answers.

You get flowers and decorations for the ceremony, plus cake and sparkling wine for toasting after the ceremony. All the packages beyond that one provide benefits for the bride and groom and not for the guests, so I don't think they're worth the money. Do you mind sending the 2010 wedding package to my email: [email protected]. Everything they have sent me still says 2008. Thanks

  7. Congrat Kimmnjay, your wedding was yesterday what an awesome day to have a weeding (12/9 was also my birthday!) LOL Hope you had an amazing day!
  8. What an awesome resort! Congrats and welcome

Zuzelh, Since I have lost all contact with Nina and Lori again can I ask you some more questions: 1) Did your reception at the Blue Lagoon include an open bar or is that an additional fee? 2) How were your tables deocorated, did every table include a flower centerpiece? Did you pay extra for that? 3) I provided my credit card information to Nina and I see they charged my cc but will I be getting an actual "contract" to sign and return? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Tiffany
  10. Congratulations! Have you decided on a resort in Negril yet, they sure have a lot of very nice ones.
  11. I use to like it but I haven't sent out Christmas cards in years! Egg Nog?

Try reading old posts from Petals, she did a planning thread and included pictures of both locations. From the pictures it appears the Poseidon is a lot smaller but that could just be the angle of the picture. Also when you spoke to someone today, did they quote you any prices for the reception? I am still trying to understand the reception costs. If anyone can help here, I would appreciate it.
  13. Wow that is a lot of pregnant people! My best friend told me she was pregnant after I had booked my wedding for May 2010 (she is due late April 2010). Because I was still very early in my planning process, I decided I wanted her there enough that I changed my weddind date (pushed it back by 2 months, which my FI was not at all thrilled about). My friend sounded very grateful at first but now I am getting little comments from her that she may not be coming afterall because of the new baby. So the moral of the story is, 1) you have to decide how much you want these people at your wedding it may be enough to change your date, but remember 2) people ALWAYS have stuff going on so you ultimately have to do what works best for you and your FI.
  14. Your book is amazing!! Thanks for sharing, I hope in the future I will have the energy to put one together too.

VistaPrint sends out these "free" offers every week, you will be fine.
  16. Thanks for sharing this info! I was just at the store over the holiday weekend with my mom and sister. Sarah worked with me she was very sweet! I didn't find my dress that either that day either, mainly because the dresses I liked were outside of my price range. So did they announce when the next blow-out sale would be taking place?
  17. Your song choice for the Bouquet toss is HILARIOUS!
  18. Never had it but it doesn't sound too yummie to me (not a big fan of peppermint) Sugar-free gum?
  19. I third that motion!!! If I had the money I would go for the raggae band in a heartbeat. It's different, I think it would be a nice touch.

I was initially going to book with GPJ but ultimately decided on the Iberostar. Good luck! Thanks for the info. I did a bit of searching on the forum last night. It's a very nice resort, I found a lot of photos of couples getting married on the beach, but didn't find any weddings at the gazebo locations. My search will continue. Thanks again!
