Sascha Gluck - AmAzing ++ PHOTOS galore
melnickovich replied to hoyt75's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Great pics! I am using Sascha for my wedding next month at The Royal in Cancun and am super excited!!! -
Thanks for your response! I did call the number and talked to my new coordinator, Elsa, for over an hour! She is magnificent, lol! She went over everything, and answered all my questions that were either ignored or they were unable to answer from the Michigan office. She is even going to set up my private catamaran charter for me (we are doing this instead of gifts for the wedding party). So, I encourage everyone that has been having communication difficulty to call the 1-866 number on the real weddings website and speak with someone at the new office in Mexico.

Thank you so much for your review! My wedding is at The Royal August 14th and I'm starting to stress! Angie was my coordinator and I know the office has been moved to Mexico. However, Angie has not emailed me back to let me know if she is still my coordinator or what is going on ( I emailed her over a week ago). So it's refreshing to hear that everything went perfect for your day! How was the weather at night for the reception? I am doing a beach reception too and am concerned it will still be super hot at night. Thanks again and congrats Mrs!!!

The Gran Caribe Gazebo is more private but I didn't choose that one because I'm not sure what kind of aisle you walk down (There are a ton of steps to walk down unless you walk through the gate at the Royal. The Royal gazebo is right by the quiet side of the pool and you walk over a cute bridge that's over the pool to get into it. They are all gorgeous locations and you really can't go wrong with any of them. Check Tripadvisor.com and look at the resort photos there to get a better idea of the surroundings! Good luck!

I bought additional real touch flowers to add to the bouquets and they are fantastic! I love them so much that I was worried that I wouldn't like my real flowers now as much. So anyways, still let me know if you are interested and I will sell upon my return either way. The centerpieces are available for immediate purchase still (I will not be bringing those with me). I will sell the 5 of those for $100 total. These are made up of white calla lilies, white peonies and orange papaya orchids. They are approximately 8" tall and 8" wide at the top. Email me with questions! Thanks! I am extremely interested in the centerpieces. Are they bouquets as well? Can the ribbon color be changed easily? What were you going to put them in? Please email me! I'm adding a sash a the waist (maybe with a flower...what do you guys think?). The skirt portion of the dress is what won me over. It has tulle inserts and a large portion of the train is tulle. LOVE! That dress was made for you! Gorgeous! -
Hey ladies, I figured I would share this info with all of you. POB is having a sample sale at select locations March 17th-19th. It says wedding gowns are starting at $199, and special occasion dresses/bridesmaid dresses are starting at $19.99! This is something that's probably worth checking out if you have a POB in your area. Here is the link with the info: SAMPLE SALE | Priscilla of Boston

August 2010 Brides!
melnickovich replied to randp8910's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Hey ladies! I'm an August 14th, 2010 bride! My wedding is at The Royal in Cancun. I am starting to freak out about the weather. I was there in August of '08 and it was hot, but I don't remember how it was in evening (probably because I had mucho tequila by that time of day, lol). My ceremony will be outdoors in a gazebo at 4:30 pm, and reception is on the beach at 6:00 pm. I am hoping it will cool off enough to be comfortable! Keeping my fingers crossed that the ocean breeze will make for a beautiful evening on the beach. -
If you are willing to travel about 40 min outside of Chicago to Gary Indiana there is this gorgeous place right on the beach in the dunes national lakeshore. It's called the Aquatorium, it's an old bath house from the 20's that has had many renovations. I was going to do my ceremony and reception here but decided on a DW instead. The website is Welcome to the Chanute Aquatorium Society -Marci

I wasn't even going to try it on because of the price tag (1500 was the high end of my budget) then she told me to try it on and that she would see what she could do. After oogling myself in the mirror with it on for like 15 minutes, she pulled in back and told me the news! Thanks for the kind words! Girls, if your dream dress is out of your price range, just remember that anything is possible! -

After lurking around here for some time admiring all of your beautiful dresses, I can finally say I have purchased the dress! It's Pronovias Estopena! I almost didn't try it on because of the $5,000 price tag, but they were trying to get rid of the sample because the dress has been discontinued so I got it for only $1500! Hopefully these pics work! http://pbckt.com/sZ.4Xn -
Just got back from my site visit! Everything was great! I was worried about the beach being closed while I was down there, but it was open...and HUGE! They apparently had just finished it a few days before my trip. It is larger than it was before the hurricane, and now I'm worried that it's too big. (I'm gonna try to figure out how to post pics). The food tasting was awesome, the lamb chops were fantastic and so was the spinach souffle. I was thinking of doing my reception on the terrace at the Gran (the one that looks like a golf course because of the green "turf") but wasn't thrilled with the bathroom situation, or with how large the space was. We were told that for events up there they sometimes use the rooms that are facing the terrace for bathroom purposes, but they could not guarantee they would be open, even if we had our guests request to stay in those rooms to make sure they would be available. So, now I'm back to having a beach reception. They Royal has gorgeous bathrooms on the beach. So that was my selling point. So I'm back now to doing ceremony in the gazebo, reception on the beach. I will try to upload pics ASAP of the beach for everyone.

Thanks for the info Stevensfiance! I'm leaving for my site inspection in 5 days! I think I am leaning towards having my reception on the terrace as well. I really wanted a beach reception at first, but the whole sand on my feet all night thing is starting to worry me. Not a fan of sandy feet, lol. I was concerned about that green "turf" on the terrace as well. But the reception would be starting around sunset, so hopefully the green stuff will go unnoticed because of the beautiful sunset. So exciting! I'm somewhat worried about the temperature too because my date is 8/14, so I'm stressing that it's still going to be super hot/humid in the evening. If anyone has other questions they would like me to ask while I'm there just let me know. Happy planning!

I saw that about the beach on Tripadvisor too. There are some new pics and reviews up now that show the beach is open (no signs or anything). I actually found a centerpiece on the wedding a la carte menu that I love, it's CP17. I think it will look so nice on the beach at night. What are you doing for your tasting, and how many options do we get for the actual reception. I read somewhere you only get 1 entree option, but not everyone likes beef or seafood. I'm hoping to have 2 entree options.

That's great to hear that both the Gran and Royal are gorgeous! Yes I have been communicating with Kimberly (and am getting used to the 2 days it takes for an email response, lol). I didn't know the Gran had a terrace area for receptions. I (think) I have my heart set on a beach reception (by Pelicanos), and a gazebo ceremony. I have read somewhere, perhaps Tripadvisor, that if you are not staying at The Royal (or have purchased a pass) then you are not allowed to even be on the property. That's what worries me. Plus the pool is so gorgeous there, and adults only, so I don't want to be stuck over at the Gran all day because that's where most of the people are staying. Ugh, oh well, I guess I'll make up my mind in December. I'm going down the 17th-21st. I think we are going with the Luxury package as well, plus adding the 65 ft yacht cruise for us and the wedding party on the day they all arrive. I'm estimating that we will have 45-60 guests, we already have 35 for sures and haven't even invited any other friends, or my side of the family yet. It's good to have you on here, you seem like you have everything planned and can answer a lot of questions. Just let me know if I become a pest, lol

Hi, I just started a thread a few weeks ago too! I will hopefully book my date (Aug 14 2010) this week. I'm going down in December for a site visit, tasting, etc. How many guests are you estimating? I would like to have my STDs out by beginning/mid November, and invites out once I get back in December (just to be sure I don't change my mind after the visit). What's worrying me right now, is where I should stay and where I should have my wedding party stay. The Royal costs a bit more than the Gran Caribe, and I hate to have my wedding party split up if half of us stay at The Royal because the guests at the Gran won't have exchange privileges. I have a rather large wedding party (7 guys, 6 girls, plus parents) so I'm thinking about just having everyone stay at the Gran, but at the same time the Royal is so beautiful, and everyone is excited about going there. I'm just worried when they see the price for 4 nights/5days for both resorts they are going to want to stay at the Gran instead...
-
JanDC, When I go down in December I am actually going to stay at the Gran Caribe, because it is a little cheaper. However, I was informed that a tour will be arranged for the Royal, where we will be shown all the different room categories (as long as there is a vacant room), as well as the different sites for the reception, cocktail hour, and ceremony. I'm not sure yet if we are going to do the luxury or ultimate luxury package...it depends on how many guests we have (we are already at 35, and have about 40 more to invite) I have my heart set on a beach reception and was told that I could have one with the luxury package, which is awesome because many resorts charge extra to have it on the beach. I will also be doing a food tasting in December. I'm not sure what type of room we will stay in for the wedding, the swim up suites look great! We are definitely doing the yacht charter for us and the wedding party (included in the ultimate luxury), but there are a lot of things included that I won't need like hair/makeup (one of my BMs is my hairdresser). I think I'm going to put down my deposit this week to hold my date, so I'm excited about that!

bcbride....wow, really? jellyfish? You know what is getting to me the most is that I'm not the kind of person to put up with anyone's BS. I'm a nurse (almost, done with school in May) and have been thick skinned all my life. I don't know why all of a sudden I'm letting peoples' opinions get to me. Hopefully it will get easier as time goes by (only been engaged 1 month). It's very comforting to know I'm not the only one with difficult/selfish people in my life. I honestly think a lot of them are jealous that they had their wedding/reception in some boring church/banquet hall, while all of us are going to be in paradise for ours! Here's to all of us who have stepped out of the box! Cheers!
