Unsupportive Mother-In-Law
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Just venting or funnies
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and supportive words! I've been so upset over this, but feel more certain about our decision to have a destination wedding. I also came to the conclusion that if I did settle for something locally, I am sure I would regret not following through with our Jamaica wedding a few years after our wedding. I think it's so true that we need to put our foot down with my MIL and tell her that we've made our decision! She will continue to try to sway our decision if I give her the room. That was a great point. I'll let my fiance talk to her first! And I think she's reached the end of my road to join in on wedding dress shopping. Lol! Thanks again everyone for your support! -
Yesterday I was dress shopping and invited my mom and sister to come along. My fiance only has brothers, so I made the kind gesture and invited his mom, my soon to be mother-in-law, to part take in the mom-daughter wedding dress shopping experience. Let's just call her initial M. So the whole time there and on the way back home M kept questioning our wedding decision. After I told her our reasons, she continually insisted that we have a local wedding, near home. She could not support our idea at all. To make things worse, when we went dress shopping M didn't have very nice things to say, didn't even know how to bit her tongue and persisted on wearing something more traditional at a chuch. I felt like no matter what I said, what points I made...she coudln't understand why my fiance and I had decided to do something so "strange" and so far away. Fortunately, my immediate family has been supportive of our destination wedding idea...they completely understand that it's our special day. Has anyone delt with in-laws this? or anyone close to you? How do you cope?

You are so talented! I just wanted to play around with photoshop and decided to try out the 30 day free trial last night and is slowly getting the hang of it...but still so much to learn. I wanted to create save the date postcards with the block letters but can't seem to the the outline for the letters juts right. They look too pixelated and not sharp borders like yours. I know how to do everything else, but the outline of letters is what i get hung up on. Mind helping? i would greatly appreciate it if you could email me at .

Hi Again! Morgan you did an awesome job! With a lot of free time on my hands I would like to begin a workproject like this. A lot of people mention that they can access a brochure template posted from you...I can't seem to find that link...maybe I'm just too excited reading all the responses I over looked it. I did notice under your signature you have a link to your blog/website that show your work, which includes a cost. Is there a free template for the brochure on here? Could you please repost the link? I'm not sure whether or not I have enough points or not Thanks!

Hi Bosi! That's great advice, but how did you get around their "on-site photographer" policy? Are you booking your off site photographer to stay at the resorts for 3 nights. As far as I understand, if I wanted to hired an off site photographer, they would have to stay at least 3 nights. I'm staying at Beaches, Negril and am wondering if there's a difference with Sandals? Please let me know!

sounds pretty! best wishes to you! and congrats!

Oh but it will be fun! I'm doing the DW for the same reasons as you...more affordable in a sense. I'm also finding it being a little less stressful because somethings are just out of your hands. You'll love this site! Take care!

I'm a US citizen planning to go to Jamaica for my wedding. Does anyone know if I need to get any vaccinations before my trip? and how far in advance before my arrival? Is this something suggested only or actually required?
