What are you doing thats a little different?
SusieQ replied to bholthof's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We are getting married at 3pm and doing the toast and pictures before dinner. Then we will have a sit down dinner at the steakhouse. Our plan is then to have a pool side reception. There we can do speeches and first dance ect.... My stepdaughter is a dancer and she has planned to do a special dance for us, she has also planned to get other people involved with a couple other songs. I think the songs are "If you like then you should have put a ring on it" and Who let the dogs out... She is also a dance instructor so she'll get them going. Otherwise just background music and chit chat for 2 hours. -
Quote: Originally Posted by lcraney I decided I wanted to go skydiving for our 4 year anniversary and my fiance (always the planner) took charge and set up the whole thing. We planned on staying in a ridiculous "Theme Room" in a campy hotel in Illinois on our way to a place just over the Wisconsin border called Skydive Midwest (who are awesome, by the way). My fiance later told me that he had an epiphany on the Thursday night before our weekend trip. We were just grilling out, and he suddenly realized he wanted to propose when we skydived. We had been living together for almost a year and been together for 4 years and we were a pretty adventurous couple, so it just made sense to him suddenly. So without me knowing, he came to this decision and started freaking out Thursday night. By Friday morning he had gotten off work to go hunting for the ring. By Friday afternoon he had found the ring and called my mother to ask for my hand. Then he called his family and let them know. Finally he called the skydive place and changed the jump to a secret engagement! All this was done by Friday night, and we left first thing Saturday for our weekend adventure. By Sunday, the day of the jump, he must have been a nervous wreck but I never would have guessed it was anything besides skydiving nerves. We almost could not jump that day because it threatened to rain and the clouds were thick all morning. But Skydive Midwest knew that my fiance and I had to get up in the air so that he could propose! When the weather cleared enough, they called our names and we suited up to jump. But we had been called up in front of 50+ people who had been waiting all day for the clouds to break so they could jump. I was confused. My fiance told me that the guy he had dealt with was a Red Sox fan and was hooking us up because we are fans too. I BOUGHT that story! I figured Red Sox fans are a devoted bunch, so who knows what they will do for each other! Little did I know it was all part of my fiance's plan. The jump itself was incredible and everything you would expect it to be, but when I landed in front of the love of my life on his knee with a ring in his hands saying such lovely things about us and our future, I think the adrenaline rush was taken to an entirely new level. I was completely shocked and truly did not expect it AT ALL! The Skydive Midwest people took a ton of pictures, so we have our "moment" etched in time forever (As well as my face frozen in utter shock and amazement). And when we got back to the hanger, everyone on the ground had been told what was happening and was cheering. I told my fiance later that it was the most well-planned rash decision anyone has ever made. Our "big plunge" has begun our journey filled with many more plunges to come. I cant wait to see how our future unfolds in even more exciting ways! can you hear me clapping? Totally awesome story....

Ready to FREAK! Need advice, please help :(

I am suppose to be 34 days away from the big day and just got blindsided again by my travel company. Let me give you some back ground info first. I booked back in May for my wedding in November. I went with Nolitours because my agent highly recommended them and said the were a real reputable company. I have since had to deal with a $50 increase/adult. I was suppose to fly out on a Wednesday and then all those flights were cancelled and we were bumped to Thursday. I was told I had the option of flying in the morning or evening. I chose morning. That flight was then cancelled and we were bumped to the evening flight which was also cancelled! Now they say we are suppose to be flying out on the Friday night. I am trying to co-ordinate the wedding so that people from several countries will be arriving generally the same time. Now My FI's daughter will be there 4 days before us! Everyone from Europe will be there before us also. I wanted to get there early so that I could make all the final arrangements before everyone was there so that I could enjoy the time with them. They have offered no incentives or anything of any kind because of all the inconviences. My FI told them we were contacting our lawyer, as at that time they told me I had no options, but to comply. Since the manager has left a message saying that I am entitled to a full refund because there was a greater than 24hr flight change. There have also been several other minor screw ups along the way. But this date thing is the most stressful. They have also offered to switch me to Signature tours. Should I switch with them, or get my money back and get a new agent fast! I have eerything ready to go. Everything printed, bought, I just need to pack! I'd be switching TA's and if they gave me any grief, I'd be writing the local newpaper and blasting them and the service they provided. No one wants bad vibes these days... Sorry if you can not do something magical for me to make me happy... I'll go somewhere else... -

He took the time and we made multiple emails back and forth trying to get everything correct. He included a final draft before the cups were made and everything! I HIGHLY recommend the ebay seller cupman19: eBay Seller: cupman19: Specialty Services, Home Garden items on eBay.com The site has lots to offer from cups and koozies to megaphones and frisbees. We ordered the ones called 16oz Stadium Cups Plastic Personalized, Beer The price was reasonable at $50 for 50 cups plus shipping and handling. Just thought I would share!! Here is the final product in translucent green, translucent blue, and translucent teal. The blue and teal are very similar in color so I"m not sure if I would choose those colors again because they are very similar. Oh well, I like them anyway. Ok on a scale of 1 -10 how excited are we? Very cute and great price... -
Gotta love the SIL from hell.... I think if I was hosting the party it would be my wallet that would be open and I would say "this is your engagment gift". Just weird not to... i had an baby shower for a friend and I paid for everything... It was my gift to her and her baby. I did chip in $10.00 towards the stroller, and her Aunt bought dessert from her bakery. I am sure the shower was much cheaper than your party however that is her brother and this gal was my friend. Common sense!!!!!!!

second guess your dress?
SusieQ replied to MsAmErika's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Well ladies I just came home to the voicemail that my dress is ready for my first try-on. I have to say I am not sure how I am feeling... I know when I did go dress shopping six months ago, the whole experience of trying on dresses totally freaked me out. I tried on about 20 dresses, not one even close to the dress I am having made. I have no idea how this is going to look on me.... Yikes..... I will call her back next week... If you see a thread next week " my dress makes me look like puff wheat" THAT"S ME!!!! -

How to make a centerpiece like this?
SusieQ replied to TCIbride's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I actually was at a house today and saw this centerpiece, client got it at a wedding she attended this past weekend. I took a good look at it and it really just wide green leaves rolled around inside the vase and to keep the leaves inplace there was a floral foam block. The flowers were pushed into the foam block. The vase was decorated with a chocolate brown ribbon with light blue ribbon on top of the chololate... Chocolate wider ribbon/blue narrow. Hope this gives you some insight.
