Hello ladies! How's the planning going for everyone? It's been quiet on here for a couple weeks, so hopefully everything is ok. Is anyone planning on having their reception out on the beach? I'm trying to decide if it's worth the upgrade to have it out there. Do you think it might be too cool or windy or buggy?

I always thought that I would prefer him to stay out of it, but now that we're actually planning I actually wish he would be more involved. It was like pulling teeth just to get him to say which location he liked!! Do any of your bridesmaids complain about the decisions (for the wedding) you make?

OK, question for you ladies. I'm wearing a 36J size bra these days, and I ended up buying a strapless gown (easy to do considering most of them are freaking strapless! WTH? ). I actually really like the look of my dress without straps so I don't really want to add them, but I need better support for the girls. There is some plastic boning in there already, but I know from previous experience that it loses its shape when it's warm and supporting that kind of weight. I have a corset that I tried with it, but it comes up too high in the back, its heavy (aka hot!) and makes sitting down an uncomfortable experience. I've looked around but strapless anything in that size is hard to find. Has anyone found a good strapless bra for larger chested ladies?

I have checked out the Unnoficial Barcelo Maya Forum, actually I have a post on there too about sharing a photog! There have been reviews and comments on there and in this forum about Foto Caribbean (or Photo Caribbean) and a lot of them haven't been flattering. There was one bride whose photos they lost and then tried to pass off stills from the video as the pictures! I can't say there haven't been good reviews because there are some, but I find personally, strictly my own taste, that most of their work looks amateur and cheesy and not worth what they charge for it. I have relatives with nice cameras who could take the same photo quality for way less money. I also don't appreciate that Barcelo makes you pay either a $300 outside vendor fee or a one or two night stay for a local professional photographer to come in. They do hundreds of weddings a year, you'd think they would offer a better photography option for such an important event. Sorry, that was a bit of a rant!

This is not the dress I thought I wanted, and even on the hanger it didn't really impress me. The saleslady talked me into trying it though and as soon as she laced it up I knew it was mine! It's not really a "destination" dress but I don't care. This is one size smaller than the one I actually bought (for some reason we didn't take any pics of the one I actually got). It had just come in and hadn't been steamed yet, so it's wrinkled and needs some alterations and I need a decent strapless bra of some sort, but I still loved it so much I bought it that day. I originally wanted something with colour in it and I wonder if it would look funny if I was to use coloured corset laces instead of white. Any thoughts?

Daily2011: I know, the only pair I found that were just ok were still $110!! So not happening. Like you said, there’s plenty of other things I could do with that money. We were looking at the Occidental Grand Xcaret because the price was right, the resort is beautiful and there would be some really nice pictures from there, but they have hardly any beach and one of our favorite things about any trip is the beach. The Barceló was only a little more expensive, and we’re pretty happy with our choice. We’re getting married at 2:00 pm. I think we have Xhail as a WC and I have sent her an email but I haven’t got a reply yet. I want to have the ceremony on the beach and I’m not sure what locations they have for that, but for the reception I’ve heard the Coral Grill or their new location (Playa Azul?) are really nice. We booked our wedding package with Transat rather than the hotel and I’m not sure yet what locations are available with that and what we’d have to pay extra for. I haven’t decided on favors or decorations or anything yet so I don’t know what we’ll have to bring with us. Hopefully not too much; I’m trying to keep it simple. What about you? Where/when is your ceremony? Have you decided on what you’re doing for your reception yet?

Hello everyone!! We're getting married at the Barcelo Maya Colonial on Jan 19, 2011, which is coming up sooo fast! I feel like there is a ton to do, though I'm not really sure what the next step is. Got the location, sent out the save-the-dates, got the dress. Oh, I know, bridesmaids dresses!!

I have thought about going the route of renting a room for a local photographer for the night, but I haven’t asked around yet about prices or to see who’s available at that time. Has anyone booked their wedding through Transat using their new wedding packages? If so, did everything go smoothly? We’re using their Euphoria package, which comes with a photo album and some prints, all of which have to be taken by PhotoCarribean in order to get them. I have looked through all the examples of their work I could find and I don’t really like any of it!
