We are not doing a site visit for cost reasons. However, we have stayed at the resort right next door that shares a beach with where we will be married, so that helps ease our minds. Prices aren't out, but I don't care about price. I am not going to just choose the cheapest place for our wedding. Don't do it for affordability for everyone... do what works for you! It's the one time we can be "selfish" without being selfish because this is the one time it really is just about us. I know some people will not make it, seems FI's entire immediate family isn't even going to try. We gave them 18 months notice, so we don't feel bad. It's just the way it is. My dress is a Private Label by G. Went to "play" with mom one day because we were by a shop and didn't have anything else to do. Found one I didn't want to take off. Knew I liked sweetheart neck but not strapless, did not want corset or anything poofy skirted.. and found the perfect one. Just wanna cut 1/2 that train off.

I wish there were a way to just mush the two together... some people may not be a part of both. But now everyone will know )

Whoa. I was in a 2011 brides OTHER thread and somehow found this one too. Looks like us 2011ers are split in half between the two! Oh well, I'll follow both now. ) In a nutshell... I get engaged August 1, 2009. Bought my dress in October (dope!) and am still madly in love with it. I have Dreams Puerto Aventuras booked for April 21, 2011. My AHR will be May 7, 2011. And I am using TA Jill from this forum for all of my bookings. STDs are in, but not mailed. No photographer booked for ceremony yet, but thinking Octavio Montes for his speedy delivery of disc of images before you leave Mexico and very affordable prices. Ok, nice to meet y'all and glad to have more people to try and patiently wait for the possibility of more things to plan.

Yay, congrats to all the new brides on here! I still wish it were closer because I do feel like I'm stuck at a stand still. I guess I could hire a photographer though. It will make me feel like I got something else done. And thanks on the "std" complements, I still laugh every time I read that. Oh and good news, I'm going to be a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding the day after Thanksgiving this year. For their honeymoon, they are coming to our wedding! Yay.

Nothing too sexy here ( Waiting until this summer when I'm toned and tanned to do some for FI. SO for now, this will do.

Wouldn't know, but I'm going with dislike! Thunder storms?

They do have an arch. I'll dig up the e-mail with the info to share, it is on the pricey side. IF I decide I want one, Hobby Lobby sells them for about $30 so it would be worth bringing my own stuff to hang on it and packing one in the suitcase. Think we are opting for us just standing on the beach though. Anywho, since you asked.. Per Sandra.. What is the price to add an arch with minimal decorations such as fabric to a beach ceremony? Now the price of the arch with the minimum of flowers is $600.00 usd consider 15% more (taxes) approximately for 2011

Thanks for the suggestion! My aunt suggested a standing aisle (but in the gazebo.. this probably won't work). At a beach wedding she attended, they only had chairs for the parents and grandparents because it was only about 20 min long. Since everyone was standing, they made an "aisle" for the bride to walk down out of people. She said it was really neat.

Here is the front of ours. The back just has info with dates and locations, then the website. I have my work cut out for me now, I have to get my address list together! All of my people will be easy, but FI's people to invite... I have to squeeze some addresses out of future MIL.

BUT I really want pics before we leave Mexico because our AHR is a week and a half after, so I think I want to book Octavio Montes for about 2 or 3 hours. My photographer sister will be there and she can do the fashiony cool portrait stuff for us later on in the trip. But congrats for having so much done!! Half of my save the dates came in. Ordered 200 on vistaprint and spend $13... just for shipping. No other costs )

My dad sat at the Cat's ice cream parlor balcony and watched a wedding that was at Dreams while we were there. I find it funny now that we know we will get married there However, I am one of the few who wants a beach ceremony instead of the gazebo.

I read The Lovely Bones and really enjoyed it until about the last third of the book. Then it just skipped too much time and I didn't care a whole lot for it. That's just me though. Have yet to watch the movie. Picked up Dear John to read while FI took his very long NCLEX test while I waited in the car. Another one that I was able to get to cheap small version because of the movie. It was a sweet book, easy read, started and finished reading it yesterday. The moral was fantastic, but parts of the story really made me sad. I'm really interested in the movie now though to see how they carried out the story on film. Next? The Pianist. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the movie and got the book off of Amazon. It's basically about the Holocaust, but in Poland.

We stayed next door (Catalonia Riviera Maya) in April 2007 (just us, first trip to Mexico ever) and June 2009 (with 13 family members). We totally fell in love with Puerto Aventuras, but did not want to be at the same resort again... it was a fun place with an amazing beach, but the food was so-so and we wanted a little bit nicer place for our wedding. I'll note that on these trips the ride from airport to hotel was 1 - 1.5 hours. This includes stopping at about 2 other places to drop people off and a gas station stop to pee and get more beer. 2. I was interested in Dreams Cancun.. but FI and my mom thought it looked Star Trek-ish ( I thought it was amazing, but his opinion counts too haha. 3. Dreams Tulum was my next idea. A friend of mine (who was married at Dreams PV) JUST went there for a wedding in June 2009, so I asked her opinion. I knew she had an amazing wedding herself, so she did have something to compare it to. She said she would NOT recommend going there. Not that it was bad, but it was nowhere near as nice as Dreams PV, including food and beach. Because we are beach lovers and not pool hang-outers, she said steer clear. 4. We wanted a place where our guests can snorkel right off the resort beach. Because we stayed next door, we knew the beach here would be GREAT for this. Catalonia's beach is connected to it in the same little bay thing, and I'm pretty sure I accidentally swam in front of Dreams PA while snorkeling on previous trips. Almost any area north of there requires an excursion for good snorkeling according to reviews and those I e-mailed. 5. Absolutely did not want a big secluded just resort where you have to get a taxi to go anywhere else. PA is a great little town where you do feel safe venturing out on foot. There are shops, bars, restaurants, and of course the marina. A baby dolphin was born last time we where there and it was very cool to see. Also (small) golf course right there. 6. Final selling point: soft beds mentioned in reviews, NO RESERVATIONS for dinner! that was such a headache before, and no wearing those plastic bracelets, and plenty of restaurants. I know how hard it is choosing a resort, but once we found Dreams PA, we just knew it was the perfect place. I hope I've helped you decide one way or another. My FI also doesn't like concrete and buildings, it's Mexico and he wants it to feel like Mexico, not a big ritzy place. Good luck!

I ordered plain white tee's from customized girl. Chose a cute graphic in the background with Future Mrs. [last name] on it. One for myself and one for FI's younger sister who is engaged. The total for both with shipping was about $21 and they came in super fast and super cute! Size runs a little on the smaller size, so I'd recommend ordered a size up from what you normally wear.
