Why do people INSIST on stressing you????
Tifuhhknee replied to JennandMike08's topic in Just venting or funnies
It doesn't go away the further along we get, but I realize it is the same people giving flack about it. Just keep a smile on your face and do it your way! As long as you tell yourself that is it YOUR day and YOUR wedding (by you I mean you and FI, hehe). Whoever truly wants to be there will be there, those that want to and cannot will not give you a hard time because they understand, the complainers and people I frankly do not want to show up... they are self absorbed and would probably cause a scene. Do what works best for you. There are no worries and nothing to wish you had done differently when looking back that way. Are we totally not like a mob here?! HAHA -
Don't watch. American Idol?

It's a waiting game now.

I think one of the Iberostars in Riviera Maya has a garden gazebo. There are actually LOTS of gazebo options out there, some on the beach and others in the "jungle." Good luck on your search and I hope you find what you are looking for! Enough searching on this forum should lead you in the right direction.

A question about rings...
Tifuhhknee replied to VA_Bride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I LOVE it and the day we got engaged, I asked FI if he minded me taking it off to shower and sleep that night. He laughed at me! He said he understood and it didn't both him. I have just never slept, showered, swam, etc with any jewelry on. I put it on in the morning, go to work, get home, and remove everything but my e-ring and a small piercing on the middle of the edge of my ear that I forget about. When I am painting (hobby) I try to remember to take the ring off because I would freak out if I accidently painted it. I have RARELY seen my mom take hers off. She's worn in pretty much nonstop or 25 years, even if she is making hamburger patties out of raw ground meat, which I think is funny. Only for cleaning the ring itself have I seen her finger without that thing. It's just person comfort I guess. -

We went to school together since 4th grade, but at a baseball game our sophomore year (we were both 16, yikes) he asked me out. I had a car and license, he did not yet. I picked him up a Friday night after school and we went to eat at a really popular "Mexican" restaurant in town. Then we went to the mall to walk around and my cousin was there. We were hanging out in the food court when this guy Nick walked up. My cousin had beef with him and punched him in the face, knocking him down into a table and chairs, then he ran off. It was memorable, to say the least. ) -
Welcome all the new ladies! The only thing I may pack is colored fabric for the chairs. Another thing we may consider is our own arch. I know, sounds crazy, but who wants to pay $700 to use one at a resort? We can buy one in a pretty small box for $30 at Hobby Lobby and just bring fabric for that. It's a thought, not sure how we'll handle all that. YAY for 2011 being for enough away for us to figure out all those goofy details!

Like some parts, dislike other parts. I'd be okay never going back there. Which leads to... Bourbon Street / Endless Bars & Strip Clubs? [haha]

Eh, dislike. Saw one episode with a bomb in someone and never got into it. King Cake?

I want mine later simply because we are not having a reception in Mexico, so there's not a big reason for me to still need all that daylight and bright sun in our eyes for the ceremony.

Up until getting engaged, his family seemed to be very similar to mine. His parents are still married, my parents are still married. None of us are rich when it comes to money out the wahzoo, but by no means is either family struggling. Both his parents work, both of my parents work. Maybe it's that they have 5 kids and I am only one of 3. I really have no idea. His mom comes from a big family (one of eight) and my dad comes from a huge family (one of thirteen). I think the main thing is that his mother thinks this will cost her about 2 times what it actually would (even though we told her otherwise). Everything is up in the air for now with them. The worst part of it all is that his sister (the next child younger than him) just got engaged for Christmas and his mom is SUPER excited about that and talking about her future and her wedding (a year after ours). From the get go, they didn't show that excitement for FI. My heart hurts for him when it comes to his mom and older brother's reactions to his decisions. At least his dad and the other 3 siblings are supportive...

Welcome and congratulations!! Figure out at least what country (or sea/beach) you are interested in, the forum is broken down from location and it was very helpful. Be careful, you can spend hours digging through the post and not realize it! Haha. Good luck and happy planning.

I chose Dreams Puerto Aventuras! I knew I wanted to be on the east coast of Mexico, but Dreams PV came HIGHLY recommended to me by an old coworker/friend who was married there. She said EVERYTHING was just perfect. Dreams Cancun looks too much like "Star Trek" according to my fiance and mother, the same girl who recommended Dreams PV said do NOT get married at Dreams Tulum because the service, food, beach, etc just was nowhere near what she experienced at Dreams PV. Honestly, I've stayed at the Catalonia next door to Dreams Puerto Aventuras, I LOVE the area, the resort beach has good snorkeling, and the reviews have nothing bad to say. My main deal with Dreams was that you don't have to wear the AI bracelet or make reservations for dinners at restaurants. The reservations were a BIG problem when we stayed in Mexico two other times. Good luck!

I am currently shopping for one. In Mexico, I figure I'll get back in my swimsuit after getting married!! LOL For my at home reception, I'm wearing my dress again, but once all the formal stuff is over, I want to have a cute short white dress to change into. Love having plenty of time to shop though. )
