Hi Ladies, Just wanted to give you a heads up that I am posting some post wedding items for sale on the Buy/sell/freebies thread. Many items I bought I actually forgot in a suitcase at home and some are leftovers from the wedding. Good luck to everyone with their upcoming weddings!!

Jodez - I brought my 7 yr old son and my sister in law brought her 2 girls, age 8 and 10. My son stayed with my parents the whole week we were there in their room. You can see if your parents will atleast take your kids the night of your wedding? If so then ask that your parents get a room with a king bed and a sofa bed. This way when your kids come over for a sleep over that night, they can stay on the sofa bed. My son slept on it all week and he didnt complain about it once. Ask Lupita a week before you arrive to make sure your parents have the correct type of room to accomodate you. Hope that helps!!

MSTS - I brought my cake topper "M" initial, but they did the rest. I didnt want to pay extra for sugar flowers so they put strawberries on top to add some colour to the cake and more texture. It turned out pretty good. As for a private party - the only thing you can do on the resort that is private is the Disco and its rented out until 11pm and then they open it to the other guests. One of the brides that had their wedding the day after mine rented it and they liked it. But they had a really young group of ppl. I had a very mixed age group so I brought everyone to Fusion for the fire show as I figured it would be a better event for them. Its something I went back and forth on but in the end I was happy we did Fusion. Most of my guests had never seen a fire show before, so it was a nice experience for them to take home with them. If you have a party group or ppl that like to dance, I would suggest the Disco bc it probably would be a lot of fun. Hope that helps

So I finally have some time to get this review done. I unfortunately do not have any photos to post just yet as there was a death in our family and our photographer is my mother in law so she needs to take care of her father’s estate prior to us getting our photos. RESORT - The resort itself is quite large and spread out. Most of our guests were in the beach section and they loved being so close to the pools, buffet restaurants and ocean. A few of our guests were put in the middle of the resort in the hacienda rooms. Most of these complexes were made up of 6 rooms and their own small pool. Some even had their own hot tub. They seemed great to have if you wanted a slow quiet day. My husband and I along with his father and wife were upgraded to the adult’s only section of the resort. The rooms were amazing and there was an adults only pool with swim up bar right outside every room, however the only down fall is that they are far from everything. We didn’t mind the walking or taking the shuttle back and forth but by the end of the week we were kind of wishing we were in the beach section with everyone else. The only good things about being upgraded into the adults only section was the following: use of adults only pool, use of the select club bars (premium alcoholic beverages) and the use of some restaurants that only the black and gold bracelets could use. The resort itself was beautiful, clean and there was quite a bit to do. There was always something going on at the pool and although the pool chairs filled up quickly, you could always find somewhere on the beach under a palapa. BEACH – the beach was beautiful. If you go to the right of the resort you can walk for miles on the unspoiled beach. It was very windy every day we were there but bc it was so hot we welcomed the breeze. It also made it fun to play in the waves; however I would not suggest this for small children bc the waves sure packed a punch. RESTAURANTS – The Italian buffet was closed when we arrived due to a broken oven. We were told that it would be this way for at least a month. This worried us as we were supposed to have our wedding dinner there but I will get into that later. The service was very good and the food at the buffet was good. It wasn’t great but it was good. I just found that it basically was the same food day in and day out. There is another buffet right by the pool that is open for breakfast and lunch too and we went there most days for lunch bc they seemed to have more for us to choose from. The pizzas there were great and everyone loved the hamburgers. I know, you don’t go to mexico for the hamburgers, but they were surprisingly good. Also the tortilla chips and the guacamole was great! Im surprised I didn’t gain any weight on this trip, but it was probably bc of all the walking we did. Lol The ala carte restaurant’s were pretty good. French restaurant A+, Mexican A+, Asian A, Mediterranean A, Brazilian C. Most of my guests complained about the Brazilian restaurant, so I would avoid it if you can. Make your ala carte reservations as soon as you get there bc they are difficult to come by for the regular dinner times. SPA – I didn’t use any of the actual spa services, but did use the salon for my hair. Although the girl did a very good job on my hair, and everyone loved it, I didn’t really get what I wanted. Everyone assures you the stylists speak English, but they definitely do not. Bring lots of pictures to show what you want so that you get what you want. It cost me $120US for my hair and to have my extensions put in. LUPITA – We met with Lupita the day after our arrival and she was right on time. We went over everything we had discussed in my previous emails and she clarified some of our information and what we were wanting. I gave her all of my items that I needed at the wedding location as well as the reception, along with my IPOD for the music and everything was placed exactly where I wanted it. I wasn’t sure what the symbolic ceremony set up was but it was beautiful. No matter which package you pick, if you get married on the beach you will have the whole set up you see in the pictures she sends you. The white draping from the palapas, the chair ribbons, the tiki torches, the table set up at the front of the aisle. We chose not to do a chuppa as the ocean was beautiful enough of a backdrop. We saw one later in the week with the chuppa and I was glad I didn’t pay the extra for it bc I think it’s a waste of money considering what you get. Lupita was great at answering all of our questions and once we were done with the meeting, I didn’t think about the wedding again until that day. She was amazing and did a great job! WEDDING - We got married on a Thursday and the wind actually calmed down for us. The whole week it had been asking for major rain on that day, but when the day came it was absolutely beautiful. Our ceremony was planned for 4:30 pm and it was perfect timing for our guests and ourselves. I wasn’t hot at all and considering my dress I thought I would be. The golf cart came to pick myself up along with my wedding party and drove us to the area where we met before the wedding. My husband was down on the beach with all of our guests waiting for us to arrive. The officiant was great and her English was quite good. I had given her my own ceremony script and she was able to learn it a few days before our wedding and she was quite impressed with the script. To the point that she came and spoke with me for about 10 mins after the wedding letting us know how proud she was to be apart of our wedding. She had done 400 weddings in the last 4 years and she said she had never been to a wedding like ours. She actually asked if she could use our script for weddings in the future. The only downfall I have with our wedding is the speaker system for the music. My song cut out right when I was walking down the isle bc they had problems with it. Not the end of the world, but a little disappointing. The set up was beautiful and I don’t have any complaints there. We choose the signature sandos drinks instead of the champagne for the wedding hut toasts and it too was fantastic. The display was very nicely done and all of my guests loved it. Nothing that I have done was an additional cost – it was all included. We did our photos to the right of the resort on the beach and we were planning on doing a trash the dress session the next day, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. There was another wedding at the same time and I didn’t want to get back into my dress, do my hair and then walk past one wedding to do my pictures. So we decided against it and most of my guests were relieved bc they didn’t want me to ruin my dress…lol Dinner was at the Italian restaurant. It actually worked out amazingly for us bc due to the closure of the restaurant, no other patrons were in it. We walked from the Italian restaurant to the other connected buffet and ended up having a private reception in the Italian restaurant. It was fantastic. The whole place to ourselves, with our own servers for our group and they were all very attentive. The cake was set up at the end of the room along with our guest book and photos of our family that couldn’t be there. We were very happy to have the private reception. I couldn’t imagine having it with all the other patrons on site in there too. So we were really happy! CAKE – we chose the vanilla and chocolate cake with the regular icing. No fondant bc we don’t like it. The cake was fabulous! Everyone loved it and it was very nicely done. Nothing super fancy but it totally worked and everyone ate it. People even came back for seconds. If I could have taken some to my room, I def would have….lol After dinner we went to the main bar across from the man buffet and had a few drinks and the kids enjoyed the entertainment prior to our departure to our fire show. I booked private transportation for our 34 guests to the FUSION hotel. Every night at 11:00pm they put on a free fire show on the beach. The hotel is quite small but has a great little bar that is also on the beach. It has a live band and we had a great time. Guests just needed to pay for drinks if they wanted any. The fire show wasn’t very long maybe 20 mins but it was great to see. All of my guests really liked the fire show and once it was over we made our way back to the resort. It was only a 10 min drive to and from the resort. By this point we were all exhausted so everyone said goodnight and we were off to bed. There was a nice surprise in our room upon our return. I won’t tell you what it is bc I don’t want to spoil it for you. Next day we received breakfast in bed – nothing special – but nice to have. OVERALL – it was a great time, every one of our guests said they had a fantastic time and that it was one of, if not the best vacation they had been on in a very long time. We had a lot of people with us so I am sure that added to the experience. You do not need to worry about anything; everything is taken care of by lupita and her band of helpers. Everything is seriously taken care of for you so that you can relax and enjoy your trip. I hope I touched on everything that you would need to know, but if you have any questions let me know. I will post some pictures on here as soon as I have some back from my mother in law to give you an idea of what the setup is also like. Oh and the beds SUCK! They are super hard and so are the pillows. Everyone one of my guests along with complete strangers complained about the beds. So hopefully you aren’t there for sleep….lol. I called down to the front desk to ask for something for our bed and although they did come up and put a cushion thing of sorts on our bed – it really made no difference – that was the worst part of the whole trip. Our bed at our honeymoon resort was heaven so we were okay with a crappy bed at Sandos…lol

There is one swim up bar - its in the adult only area of the resort - but you can only go there if you are in the adults only rooms. Or have the black or gold bracelets. It is at thev ery back of the reosrt - about 8 mins from the beach. Its nice but we never used it and it wa always dead in there. Most people were in the ocean not the pools. Hope that helps!

Hi Chrisanthi, When it comes to decor, flowers, cake etc. Lupita can send you the files that show what is available but you do not need to tell her ahead of time what your choices are. Bc when you meet with her the day after your arrival she will go over all that with you - even if you have already sent her that info. There is no need in stressing about all this stuff. Its a destination wedding remember.....its supposed to be stress free bc they take care of all of that for you. You plan and choose everything from your colours, to your cake, decorations, ceremony location etc at your meeting with Lupita. You just need to show up....lol My wedding at Sandos is 15 days away and I am not stressed at all. People try to plan plan plan, but really how can you plan so much when you arent even there yet? Just relax and enjoy your time with the wedding planning that you can take care of at home. Like OOT bags or invitations, etc.... Let the resort take care of the rest for you. This way you wont get stressed. Bc what you choose now, may not even be what you want in 6 months from now. We are all constantly changing our minds so dont put yourself thru that if you can avoid it. I know I have changed my mind on my wedding dress 2 times, so I can only imagine what it would have been like if I had pre chose my decor, flowers, etc. Just try to enjoy the time you have and try not to stress ok? In the end it will be perfect Im sure........ Good luck and happy planning!

MayanBride, Well our plans fell through and we ended up telling everyone at the 8 weeks that I am pregnant bc my FI grandfather was told he has stage 4 liver cancer So we decided that we would tell everyone now bc we really dont know how much time he actually has left with us. Everyone was super excited and I feel better now that everyone knows.... FI is still all against finding out the sex of the baby so I guess I am stuck waiting it out like the rest of the preggos on here until that faithful day...lol Congrats to you and good luck!

Hi Ladies, I am getting married at Sandos in less than a month and I wanted to give you another idea as to what you can do instead of the Disco. We chartered private air conditioned Vans for $250.00 US for our 34 guests and we are taking them to Fusion for a beach fire show. The fire show is free so we ddidnt mind paying for the vans to take them all there. It is on another resorts beachfront so it has a bar there too should your guests like to get a few drinks. We figured we would forego the disco due to the mixed reviews and had heard great reviews from other brides about Fusion. So check it out if you are interested in trying something a little different. Good luck!

Hey Ladies, So when I was trying to decide early on whether or not I was going to do a BD session for my FI, I found it difficult that there wasnt a lot of pictures on the BDW forum. So I figured I would post some of my proofs on here to give anyone who is thinking about it, the chance to see what its all about. I had a great time doing the shoot and although it was a little nerve wracking initially, within 15 mins I had calmed down. If I wasnt 5 weeks pregnant at the time, I would have had a few drinks before hand to take the edge off, but in the end it was great! I am so happy with my results and even the nude pictures I did turned our great! If you are thinking about doing this but dont think you have the guts to do it......Just do it! It is a liberating experience and if your photographer is good, he/she will make you look beautiful. I am not a small girl (size 14) as you will see below, and my pics turned out amazingly.....you definitely wont regret it. And Im not even photoshopped yet! lol CALGARY / ALBERTA BRIDES - if you are looking for a BD photographer - look up Sarah Pukin Photography - I HIGHLY recommend her. She was fantastic and tell her Jenn sent you.

I just asked Lupita about using our own photographer and she siad it was fine. If you are bringing one onto the resort you must pay the day pass for them as Dreamyeyez stated above. We are using FI mother as she is a photographer and luckily we dont have to pay anything as she is already a guest at the resort. Hope that helps!

So Glad I found this thread!! I just found out today that I am and I am going to burst bc I can't tell anyone!!! My FI and I agreed that we wouldnt tell anyone until I was 3 months along, but now that I am.....well I want to tell everyone and I'm only 4 weeks! LOL So I figure if I can't tell anyone we know, I should be able to tell the ladies on my favorite forum right?? YAY!! I am soooo excited!!!! I will be 14 weeks on the day we fly to Mexico and can't wait to tell everyone at the wedding reception. I even bought little socks and put them into little gift boxes to present to our parents. What will make it even more exciting is that they all think we have written off having children. From the beginning of our relationship we always said that we didnt want anymore kids (I have a 7yr old from my past marriage) and once everyone got over the initial shock, they all have accepted this. But what they dont know, is this past May my FI changed his mind and stated that he did want a child of his own so we planned on TTC soon. He wanted to start in August but my dress wouldnt fit if we got prego then so we started in October and low and behold I got prego. The family is going to be EXTATIC.....bc they have all been wanting this for so long. We have been together for four years , have our own property, are engaged, and now having a baby. We didnt exactly go in order but its all good....lol So I just needed to share and want to say congrats to all the other ladies that are prego or had their babies and to the ones that are TTC, to try to relax and enjoy your time with your FI.....

Hey Ladies, Does anyone know for sure whether or not we have to pay a day rate fee if we bring someone in to do our hair and makeup? I was able to track down someone from MAC to do my makeup and with her fee, along with the hair stylists fee and then to have to pay what $77.00 each to bring them onto the resort....it works out to be a very expensive hair and makeup appointment. I would like to be able to avoid this if at all possible.... Thanks a bunch!

I tried looking for a DIY frame and I had no luck - for over 9 months I have been looking at every store that would have a fame and never found it. Finally I went on Etsy and found a seller that makes them and will ship to Canada. I am not doing the traditional frame with a picture, but rather having our last name enscribed into the glass along with our names and our wedding date. I am really looking forward to getting it. The only down side is that its about $80 with shipping to Canada. So if anyone is interested and having the same problems I was in finding an appropriate frame to us....you can always check out etsy.

I just used photobookcanada.com to make my guest book and just got it in the mail a couple of days ago. It turned out amazing and I got a 30% discount plus free shipping on it as that is their promo for the month of August. I have already made my book for BD shoot - all I have to do is add my pics now and I will be ready to go with another order shortly. I am so happy with their product and it was here in a matter of 2 weeks from when I uploaded it to their site. Good luck !
-
I uploaded my pics to photobookcanada.com and they stated so long as my nudity was tasteful that my book would go to print. They just dont want to see any poronography which I think is a given, but maybe not to everyone who has ever sent in photos for a book....lol It took me about 10 hours to complete my book but that is bc I wanted it to be perfect and I added a lot of personal touches. By doing my own book I saved over $200 on an 8x8 album so I am super happy with it! Good luck!

Hye Ladies, Just finished my Guest Book - Photobook a few days ago that I did with PhotobookCanada.com. Got a smokin deal for a 12x12 image wrapped book bc they have 30% off right now with free shipping. It should be here any day now....can't wait to see how it turned out....if you are planning on doing one of these get on it right now before the end of August to take advantage of this deal. It was super easy to do and I had a lot of fun doing it. The only downfall......it probably took my 12 hours to complete it. So a lot of hours but it will be totally worth it. Now not only do I have a full colour guest book that all of my guests will enjoy looking at and filling out for us but it can also double as a coffee table book! Will post some pics of it when it gets here.....

I just booked my BD shoot with Sarah Pukin on Nov 4 - so excited! Can't wait to do this....thanks for all the great posts ladies...and keep them coming!

If anyone is a DIY'r I did my own Travel mugs. I got the idea from another BDW'r who did her own mugs too. I went to Dollarama and bought all the travel mugs that I needed (metallic kind of looking blue plastic) for $1.00 each and then had my monograms that Rebecca did from AllurementsbyRebecca and sent them to vista print to make stickers. I placed the stickers on the cleaned travl mugs and then bought the plastic adhesive book cover from dollarama as well and put that over my stickers so that they would be water proof. They turned out really great and my mugs only cost me $45.00 for 40 mugs completely finished.

I just had my 2nd of 3 shots of the TwinRx vaccination. I work in the dental field so I have to have my Hep B shot anyways, but I would never take the risk of going away and not being vaccinated for that specific country. I have seen first hand what can happen to patients that decided not to get the vaccines bc they think it wont happen to them if they are careful. You can never be too careful when it comes to your health. The effects from contracting Hepatitis can be horrible, even fatal. This is not something I am willing to put my family through. My FI and 7 yr old son are all being vaccinated for our Jan 2012 Wedding. That is only my opinion though. If your not sure, maybe talk to your pharmacist or doctor. The vaccinations are covered by some insurance plans, but if you dont have insurance, prepare to pay quite a bit for it. Good luck in your decision!
