My Wedding Dress!!
Jennybell1 replied to Jocy's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Beautiful dress....you look fabulous! -
I can share in your anxiety. My bf's grandmohter was very sick and in the hospital and she asked me when we were getting married and he said in a couple of years. So that means the proposal has to be coming soon. Plus we have talked about it and we know where we are getting married...but still no ring! Im get so anxious about it that I actuallly put myself into a total panic asthma attack. I have decided to just let it happen and when it does, then we will hammer down the date. I have been told that all you need is anywhere from 4-6 months. Luckily with a destination wedding you wont have to scramble on most things bc they will already be taken care of for you. You will have lots of time to book. My gf booked her wedding for 2 months after her engagement and everything went fine and they had it at the moon palace which is a really hard resort to get into sometimes. I think everything will go just fine for you....patience is a virtue...of which I have none too...lol

Hi MsZ, My soon to be mother in law is a photographer and naturally she will be shooting our wedding. As said above, they cant stop your "paying guests" from taking pictures. I am too trying to decide btwn Barcelo Maya beach and Sandos Playacar beach for my upcoming wedding in Jan 2011. I do know that you cannot pay a fee that some of the other resorts offer for off site vendors. So unless you have a family member that is coming for the wedding, you might run into some problems. I wouldnt take the chance though....I have heard some resorts have charged upwards of $300 US on top of the off site vendor fee of$90 to have a photgrapher come in. Talk to Gabirelle at the Barcelo and see what she says.... Let me know how it goes as Im interested to see if there are any loop holes out there for the other girls looking to wed there. Jenn

I was going to pick Dreams resort, but due to the cost - we decided against it due to our guests. You can get the Barcelo Maya bEach resort or Sandos Playacar beach, or Bahia Principe Coba for approx $1800 per person CAN and there have been amazing reciews on all of them. Especially the Barcelo on here. Its really hard to decide, but like Nicole said, if you can figure what you really are looking for, you can narrow things down. I went to the TA and got all the tour companies mexico books and went through all of them based on pictures and ammenities, then spent some time on tripadvisor to get some reveiws...that REALLY helped. Then after I had narrowed it down I asked my TA which ones were in my price range. From there I narrowed it down to two. Barecelo Maya Beach and Sandos Playacar Beach....both have amazing beaches for the wedding to take place on and have great reviews .....its just a time thing I think. If you can take the time to do the research (which took me two weeks...lol) then you will be happy with your decision. Good Luck...hope that helps!

Just remember that the "rainy" season is May-Dec. I used to work in the Mayan with part of a touring company and I would have to say from experience of working there for 5 yrs......Oct-Dec were the worst for bad weather. The best time to be there for weather is Jan-Mar. Thats why its more expensive to book then. Hope this helps!

weather

We were there the last week of november and first week or december and it rained the whole time we were there. We have gone three time to mayan around that time frame due to weddings of friends and every time we have gone it rained the whole time. And not normal rain either - like torential down pour kind of rain....lol Just remember that May - November is hurricaine season and the rainy season. That is why it is cheaper to go at those times. I have been told on many occassion that the best time to go to cancun/mayan is from Jan - mar. Im planning mine for the earlier part of January. I hope this helps and doesnt put a damper on things. Im sure it doesnt rain there ALL the time...lol...but for the three different times we have gone in november /december, I think we got one day of clear skies! It was not great for the brides unfortunately. Good luck! -
Hello Ladies, Here's the thing; I have researched both resorts and have read many threads from all of you regarding theses resorts and I still cannot figure out which one I should have my wedding at. I am planning on staying at both of them (one week for wedding and the other for the honeymoon), but am not sure which one to pick for each week. Can anyone please help me narrow this down. Anything that really stood out about both of these places from information you found out or from personal experience. We are having a small informal beach wedding with approx 20-25 people as this is my second marriage and my guy is not a fan of big formal weddings. Plus I've been there and did that with my last wedding. I want a fun environment that everyone can enjoy and stress-free! Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. What made you choose Barcelo, or Sandos over other resorts? Thanks!! Jennifer

Amazing - I love it!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!! -
Congrats! I stayed at the Moon Palace in 2006 and I had a fabulous time. There were always 3-6 weddings per day and they were so beautiful. You are going to LOVE this resort. The rooms are fabulous!!! I was so sad to leave. Take the "chef's tour", it was sooo cool and most people dont know about it. Oh and the cocomut ice cream is to DIE for!! Im not a cocomut fan but absolutely loved it. We had a room right behind one of the wedding gazebo's and it was always beautiful. Brides arriving on a white horse drawn carriage. Its a huge resort ...we had so much fun! Happy planning!!!!

Hello Ladies, I have to say that I love the OOT Bag idea!! Can't wait to get started on mine. Just curious though, do you do one for every guest or just the couple? I was planning on doing one for every guest but then thought about the guys. What guy is going to carry around the OOT canvas bag?? And what guy is actually going to care whats in it....other then the hangover kit and first aid kit maybe...lol. Do I do a bigger bag for the ladies and a smaller bag for the men? Your opinions please. Thank you in advance and thanks for all your great ideas!!

Flower petals or bubbles???
Jennybell1 replied to lrfriendly's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I had bubbles at my first wedding and although I loved it bc there was no clean up, in the end if I could go back and change something, it would be the bubbles. Unfortunately the bubbles where in a lot of the pictures and made what should have been fabulous pcitures, into bubble covered faces. I will never do the bubbles again for that very reason. So many of my pictures were ruined and I think I only got 1 or 2 really good pictures when we were walking down the aisle. I was so upset at the time. NOw that Im divorced it doesnt matter...lol...but I would hate for it to ruin your day. Just a thought.... -
Dont know if anyone has put this in the forum yet, but you can order from VistaPrint.ca - and alot of items are free and you only have to pay the shipping, which is pretty cheap actually! I got a t-shirt there and all it cost me was $8 for the shipping... Invitations labels, cards, etc you name it and they have it! Good luck

I had bubbles at my first wedding and the only problem with them is that they can interfere with your photos. I had a lot of great photos however they were wrecked by the bubbles in our faces. Its a great affect and it sounds like a great idea until you actually do it. I think the bubbles are a nice idea - just try to make sure your not planning on any major photo ops when they are being blown... Good luck and enjoy!!
