Visible mustache - no BO - ugh! There is nothing worse then that I think! Would you rather "know the truth" or "ignorance is bliss" if one of your parents had an indiscretion?
-
Short but sweet.....I would leave it. You said you that you now know who your real friends are...I think that says it right there. Its not worth it. Drop her and run. Sounds like shes wants to be your friend only when its convenient. RUN!

Thats so cool! Congrats!

Thats Hilarious! Small World! We had friends in Waterdown and Burlington. I went to Emma's ALL the time!!!! Loved that place. I went to Cathedral High School, MAC University and then came out here to finish school. I lived on the west mountain on the border of ancaster. Upper Paradise and Stone Church before I moved to Calgary. I have to say I dont miss Hamilton at all! My friends yes, but the city - ugh! No. LOL. Atleast burlington and waterdown are pretty cities, cant say that about the Hammer! I just looked at the thread for the GTG - and the date they are throwing around is Nov 14 or 15th. Just waiting for feedback from the other DW Brides. You should look up the thread - I think its "Any Red Deer, calgary brides" or something like that. Did you know anyone here prior to moving here? How are you finding the social life here? I find its definitely different from back home that is for sure. People seem to be more on guard here then back home. I had more friends then I could keep up with and here, it seems to be that I stick with a select few vs a vast amount. How about you? It was a shock for me thats for sure! How is your planning coming along so far? Jenn

This is a tough one...and Im so sorry your so stressed out so close to your wedding. Everyone is jealous by nature...its just a matter of what level of jealousy they have. So dont feel bad that you are feeling jealous. Some jealous behaviour I think is good for a relationship, it shows just how much you care about that person. So long as it isnt like "crazy" jealousy. Which it sounds as though you are not! As for the issue, well, I would have to say that yes he is marrying you, however if it bothers you that much, then he should have enough sense to remove any ex's from his FB. And he should try to limit his contact with his ex at work. As much as possible without it interfering with his job. You cant do anything about an ex he works with, unless he changes jobs, but I dont see that happening. I would have a talk with him and let him know how much it bothers you that he has contact with previous gf's. That it would make you feel better if he didnt. Riley and I had that conversation just after we got together, and we both agreed that we wouldnt have any contact with any of our ex's. Its only fair. You broke up for a reason, yes...but that doesnt mean you dont still care about that person in some shape or form. I have feelings that will stay with me forever with one of my ex's and he has the same feelings for me.....it would be a horrible outcome if we kept in touch. I just think that its very difficult for guys and girls to be friends...there are exceptions to this of course. My best friend is a guy, but there is nothing btwn us and that is very evident to everyone. Totally plutonic. However that is rarely the case. If it was me, I would Kibosh it. As would Riley with me. I dont beleive he would ever cheat on me nor would I on him....however opportunity knocks sometimes, and sometimes the people who say they never would, do. If it makes you uncomfortable, you need to let him know. Otherwise this will be a continual issue up for discussion and it will never go away. You dont want to start your life with him, only to have this lingering feeling that something isnt right. He is right - he is marrying you in a month, he loves you...if your uncomfortable, he needs to fix it. You have to go with your gut...it never lies....you need to deal with this issue now before it gets completely out of hand. Just make sure you do it in a calm manner and make sure you get all your points across but in a loving manner. He needs to understand how he is making you feel and the doubt you are feeling. I think if someone gets really upset about something that is brought to their attention, its bc they are hiding something. Think about it, if it was nothing he would have brushed it off and maybe even laughed it off. Not "blowing up" at you over something that concerns you. My ex boyfriend used to blow up me when I asked those questions bc I had similar issues of doubt etc....only for me to find out that I was right all along. Im sorry if this sounds harsh, and I am by no means telling you he is doing what you think he might be doing or posssibly playing with the idea...but you need to take care of #1 too remember. You need to deal with this now and get him to understand how this makes you feel. Once he understands this, he will do something about it, if he cares about you and your life together. If he doesnt, well .....and I hate to say it......but I would take a good look at what your doing before you wakl down that isle. If I had done that 10 years ago, I wouldnt be divorced right now and on my 2nd marriage. Please take the time to really think this over, like I said before, womens intuition is almost always right....dont ignore what you are feeling. Your feeling it for a reason. Whether its happening or not, you are feeling insecure and you need to figure out what needs to be done to make you feel secure in your relationship again. I wish you all the best and hope things can get resolved very quickly. Good Luck!!

My 2nd marriage, his 1st - wedding gifts?

Also you could do something different and do the honeymoon registry, a pampered chef registry, registry through your photog. for gift certificates (my cousin did this and it worked great), I have also heard of people doing a registry for non-profit organizations. I know I would want to get you something to celebrate your marriage! And you don't want it to be something you don't want/need. Good Luck! Thnks Annette, Thats a good idea. I think from what everyone else has said, if someone is wanting to get us something, they will regardless of what we say, so we might as well register somewhere to avoid all the awkward questions of what we want. Word of mouth that we have a registry of some kind. THanks for everyone's input. I feel better now. I didnt want to insult someone by not taking their gift, but I also didnt want to insult anyone and make them think they had to do something. When that is not our intention by any means. -

As for the disco - there will be a bartender there in the disco for you. So you dont have to worry about that. As for the DJ - I was told that you bring your own ipod and they have a dock for it and you put it on random. However, I would look into it further, bc a dj would be there for when the disco opens, so I would hope that he could be available for you to. I am waiting to here back from Paola on the DJ issue to make sure the info I was given was correct. Between all of us on here we will get the nitty gritty figured out!

Hi Leslie, If it was me, I would stay away from the Mayan riviera between the months of Oct-Dec. I have been there alot and used to work with some of the tours out there and the weather is very unpredicatable at that time. Every time I have gone in November or December I have been there for two weeks, and I probably saw 3-4 days of clear skies out of the 14 days. Like I said I used to work with the tours that went down so I wa there ALOT! I have chosen January bc its safer time to travel for the weather (if your considering (oct - feb) and it is actually cheaper to go the first week of January. Once you pass the 15th of January your costs go up. As for your dancing - you can rent out the disco for a few hours, i think its approx 250US per hour. From what Paola (WC) has told me you cannot get a DJ, and you cannot have dancing anywhere but the disco, if you arent having a private function. If you have a private function, they can set something up for you. So you dont have alot of choices on that one. If you rent out the DISCO kids can come, but if you dont then its adults only. Plus you can only rent the disco out until 11pm, as that is when they open it to the public. BUt having the disco also allows you to do a slide show.....just a thought. I have heard from other brides that dinner usually starts at 6:30 and that its somewhat difficult to do speeches bc you kind arent all sitting together in a long table. Its just a whole bunch of table placed closer together. Also, they try to get you out of the restuarant kind of quickly as you are taking up tables and time from other guests. Last review I saw on here, they were kinda pushing them to get going and they hadnt even cut the cake yet. So I imagine your going to have problems doing toasts. That should probably all happen at the wedding hut when you have the champagne. Look up Sandos PLayacar Beach review on the threads in here...there is more information on there for you. Good Luck!

I do have that one actually from another bride on here, but I thought since I was down there I would try and find them. I think the print out will work fabulously, I just wanted to see if I could save myself some more of the DIY time as I have a lot to do still. THanks for posting that though - I know alot of other brides will use it for sure!

So I'm in Montana right now on vacation and I thought I would go and check out the infamous Dollar Tree and it turned out well worth my while. I ended up finding these really great travel mugs in a turquoise/blue colour (somewhat shiny/metallic - but very low key) and some black ones. I was able to snag 30 of them!!!! YAY!!! In total it only cost my $30.00 bc there is no tax out here. And with the dollar beong so good for us Canadian, I got a really good deal. I never wanted to get my mugs monogramed as I didnt think anyone would want to use the mugs after the wedding if I had something like that on there, so it worked out great for me. SO happy!!! My OOT bags are almost done. On a sad note, still cant find those freaking Spanish for Dummies book anywhere out here. Have looked at the dollar stores, target, walmart....I think Im going to be out of luck on this one....oh well! Now onto bigger and better things.....beach towels...lol
-
YIkes....the travel mugs are super expensive! I keep looking at what I have already spent for the OOT bags and all the items I am putting in them , the favours ...along with looking into getting mugs and its a scary thought! lol I saw some at the dollarama in Olds,AB that were stainless steel, no mongram of course, but I might go that route as it will then only cost me about $45.00 in total for 30 mugs. Im going to the states for a week tomorrow so if anyone wants me to look for anything specific for them, let me know by either PM'ing me or email me and I can let you know while IM there if I found it and how much it is. That way if you want me to get it for you and ship it from ALberta I can. Might be cheaper? Just a thought....

Hi Jen, Im pretty sure we are going with Sandos Playacar Beach Resort bc we have been told it has the best beach in Playa Del Carmen and they have really good wedding rates. A few other brides went down and did some site visits and found Sandos the most reasonable and the best value for any add-ons. The dont seem to nickel and dime you on everything. Its not set in stone for us, but its my main choice right now. We are trying to keep the costs down as we are having a very small informal wedding and we dont want our guests paying more then $1800 per person. Sandos falls right in that category. I thought of the RIU too, but honestly I havent really looked into it all the much yet. I probably will in the next 6 months when we really have to decide. We do know that we will be going to the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort for our honeymoon, well atleast thats the plan. I feel like I change my mind more often then I change my socks...lol Where are you in Calgary? We just moved outside of calgary last winter - do you know where Didsbury is? Quote: Originally Posted by jenv jenny, thanks and congrats to you too. i will definalty let you know if i need anything!!! we are also looking at playa del carmen cause we met at the iberostar tucan there about 5 years ago. we just heard a few things about that resort like there not very good with negotiating with big group and they only offer wedding packages for up to 10 people and they make you pay for every additional person. we've heard really good things about the RUI and there discounts they give.. so that's what i'm focusing on right now!!!! have you figured out a resort yet

I love Crest Whitestrips Advance-seal!!
Jennybell1 replied to michelle6114's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I work in the dental field and have to tell you that for the cost of using the crest white strips, and the based on the results, sometimes you are better of getting the in office whitening kit from your dentist. I know we sell ours for $250 and that includes the bleaching trays that are an exact replica of your teeth. The problem with the crest strips or any over the counter whitening kit is that they cant bleach interproxiamlly (in between the teeth) so you get good result from the crest kit; however when the colour regresses in two weeks time you will see inconsistencies. As with any bleaching, your colour will regress to the actual shade you will be after two weeks of not bleaching. With in office or take home bleaching kits, you are guarenteed great results and it bleaches all the way through. NOt like the crest white strips, where they just bleach the surface of the tooth. You are spending so much money on the strips for them to only last maybe a month. Why not spend a little bit more and get the full results for a year. Plus all you have to do is store your excess bleach in the fridge and you can do a "touch up" once every six months (if your a coffee, tea, wine drinker or smoker) and have the professional look. I dont know how many patients I have had in the past complain about their crest white strips, even the new ones, bc the results vary vastly from person to person. Plus the results are not long lasting. If you are only looking for a temp fix just for your wedding, then I guess crest white strips are okay bc they are just going to fade back to their normal colour in about a month. But if you are looking at doing this long term, then its definitely more cost effective and you get way better results if you consult your dentist for an in office solution like "ZOOM" or take home bleaching kit. Just thought I would share....good luck with the strips....and congrats ladies! -

Pming you about the first aid kits -
Anyone want to go in on the Business Id BAdges together? I only need 15 of them and normally you need to buy atleast 50. Please let me know. Thanks! Oh and I found my ID badge holders at the dollarama in Olds, AB. I opted for the teathers and not the coil or clips as I have problems with them in the past.
-
Hey Jen, I live just outside of Calgary in Didsbury and am also getting married in the Mayan Riveira area - acutally Playa Del Carmen in early January 2011. Congrats! Let me know if you need anything!
-
I bought the around the neck key holders to use instead of the clips or coil wrist band as I have use the other ones before and didnt like them too much. They kept bugging my wrist and the clip snagged my bathing suit on a number of occasions. So I opted for the teathers. I now have to track down the plastic key holders as they are expensive here in Canada.....ugh! lol

Im here too! I am Jan 2011, well if I get my way and we can get things rolling fast enough. WE are kind on hold, but still sort of planning for 2011. I have my beach and Hangover kits done and need a few more things for my OOT bags, but otherwise that is all done too. Its hard bc everyone is planning for 2010 and we have to wait a whole year more....I wish it was here already. Oh well, this way we can get a lot of ideas from all these ladies! Congrats my fellow 2011 brides to be!
