You cant take a look at my thread - "OOT bags finished - pic heavy" and it will show you the welcome book. I got it from the dollar store and basically I just put in my welcome letter on the first page along with info on the resort, what to do in Playa Del Carmen, puzzle games and spanish to english mini dictionary. I havent decided yet if I am going to add pics of all the guests along with a little blurb about them so that my guests can get familiarized with eachother. I basically found the templates on this site from other brides and have cut and pasted a lot of it so that I could attach it to my welcome books. Hope that helps!

Hello everyone, So I am playing with the idea of honeymooning at the Temptations Resort and Spa in Cancun. It is an Adults only resort that can have some risque/fun entertainement and nudity (topless women) throughout the resort. I am well aware of all the information on this resort and what it offers and what goes on at the resort. I have read the reviews on tripadvisor.ca and looked at all the pictures and am kinda leaning towards this resort. It looks like a ton of fun with alot of people our age and although some of the reviews were not good (which seemed to come from couples or people that are very conservative by nature), it still has not turned me away. I am not the jealous type so I dont care if women are going topless, besides he just married me the week earlier by then. I have heard how romantic this resort is and how it caters to newlyweds and that the staff is top notch.... Just wondering if anyone has been there and what they thought of it? If you dont want to respond on this thread, please PM me as I would love to hear from you and see any pictures you might be willing to send me!!! Thanks!!!!

I'll be sure to tell you guys once I get the actual proposal and ring. Not to put a damper on things or make this into a bad spin on anyone's wedding, but yes Cuba is cheaper for us from Canada, however there is one downfall. We picked Cuba initally but changed our minds for one reason. And here is the yucky part of it.....if you get married in Cuba and things dont work out (not saying to wont - bc we all go into this thinking we are going to be with this person forever - I for one speak from experience - got married and then 9 yrs later got divorced) you have to go back to Cuba to get divorced. Unless of course you get legally married here first and then do a symbolic ceremony there - no one will know the difference. Once I found that out we changed our plans...I cant see anything happening to us in the future, but bc Ihave divorced before I cant say it will never happen again. I just couldnt bare the thought of having to go back there with him to get a divorce....to weird. Just thought I would let you know that tidbit of info. PLease do not take offence to this post, I am by no means trying to rain on your parade, I just wanted to make you aware of this, bc I was very thankful when I found this info out. Atleast then you know before going what the legal stipulations are for that country. Happy planning and Congratulations!

To my Ringless/ Yet to be engaged Ladies...
Jennybell1 replied to xoHeavenSentxo's topic in Random Thoughts
I think that we will be "robbed" of being caught totally by surprise bc many women on here had no idea a ring was even coming, but I dont think it will ruin much for me. I know it is coming, we have his ring and I have alot done for the DW but I have no idea as to when, where or how he will do it. I know I wont be getting it this year as he hasnt ordered it yet and it will take 4-6 weeks to get to us from the States, so Im hoping early next year. I have stopped looking for clues bc I dont want to ruin what surprise I have left. I will just let it happen and until then PATIENTLY (that is the operative word) wait......lol -
Congratulation! You will love this forum!!! I would have been lost without it.... I lived in Hamilton for 19 years before moving to Calgary....glad to see another Ontarian on here and fellow Canadian! Happy Planning

There is a thread on here that lists all the things you can do with vistaprint and the best part if, most of the stuff is free, you just have to pay for shipping. I have bought so much of that site, its amazing. I dont have an actual template, I just imported my info on one of the brochures they had as a default. You have to play with it a bit to get what you want, but I ended getting 25 of them for free and I only needed 15! Score!! Let me know if you need any help or you want me to email you some close up pictures of the pamphlets! Good luck! -

He then came up to me and pullsn out the ring and says "Let me help you out, I think you're going to need this to keep looking through the magazine" lol...It was so not what I expected my proposal to be but was so perfect. I was in complete shock, and can you believe I CRIED!!!lol So totally NOT me....the ring is beautiful and now it's official so I'm veryn happy....I have been given the OK to start looking at wedding websites again...lol...I hope it happens for you soon....It's the best feeling even if we know they are going to do it, it was still a surprise. As far as centerpieces and all that, I'll probably just order it from the resort. I know DW are suppose to be easier. For me honestly the reason for wanting a destination wedding is because I wanted pictures with the beautiful caribbean water in it. I also knew that I would not be able to afford having the type of wedding I wanted if I got married down here because my guest list would have been ridiculous. Doing the DW makes it easier for us. I think we are getting legally married here first as well and not telling anyone. It's just cheaper and easier. I don't feel like going through the whole blood test thing down there either or spending the extra money. You def look like you have everything planned out. When we go for our site visit on the 25th, my fiance said if we like the resort we can pick a date so we'll see. I want to pick a date so that I can send our STD's by january of next year...I'm going to try and figure out how to take a picture of my ring to send you YAY!!!!:smile2 9: Congratulations!!!!! So excited for you! So funny we were just talking about this and he does it! Cant beleive it! You must be SOOO happy now! Oh I am so happy for you....I wish I could have seen your face when he did it! I think Im gonna try looking at wedding books now....lol....just kidding! Thats such great news Yencie!!! Now like you said, you can officially start planning again without getting the rolling of the eyes. Oh how exciting! I cant wait for you to go on your site visit and hopefully nail down a date. That will lift a huge weight off your shoulders. Especially being able to do that while your down there and not worry about it via emails like the rest of us. You will have to take a lot of pictures so we can see where it will be. Ya the more I think about it, the more comfotable I am with the thought of getting married here first and not telling anyone and then doing the symbolic ceremony there. I dont think anyone will know the difference. Plus that way we wont be nervous of the day of the beach ceremony. Might remember more of it that way. I know my last wedding was a total blur for most of the time...lol...probably better that way now anyways...lol So what does the ring look like? You have to upload a pic to photobucket and get it on here!!!! I want to see the beauty! Did you phone everyone right away I bet you were on the phone for hours! lol THats sucha cute way of doing it. I told Riley I didnt want anything fancy or something which involved a lot of people. Just me and him,...even if he asked me in bed on a sunday morning...lol....I dont care so long as its heartfelt and genuine and romantic. I dont need the weekend away or fancy dinner. Just me and him. So I love that your now FIANCE (dont you just love the sound of that when it refers to your man...lol) did it that way. Its really cute and unique. Plus it TOTALLY caught you off guard and thats the way it should be. You didnt have a chance to figure it out. So great!!!! Keep me posted on EVERYTHING!!!!! Congrats from Riley and I!!!!

Gifts for parents if they aren't paying?
Jennybell1 replied to ebdaniel113's topic in Just venting or funnies
WTF Whose wedding is this anyways?? A diamond necklace? Holy Sh*t she needs to shake her head. My parents are not contributing anything to my wedding as it is my second one, however Riley's mom will be giving us probably about 1/3 of our costs. I didnt give anything to my parents at my last wedding, bc I feel that they wouldnt have given it to me to get something back. They gave it to me to help with the financial aspect so to expect a gift, well it would be like me buying them a gift with their money. Now that I am older and able to afford more, we will probably treat the mom's to something at the spa as well as some jewlery and a pashmina, and the boys get a round of golf and some golf balls. Im not going out of my way and spending exorberant (sp?) amounts of money on my family bc they dont expect that and its not the idea behind a wedding. My gift to them is were getting married to a person we love and want to be with forever (finally). The parents on both side have always said, all they want to see is their child happy, and that is what we are and will be. That is better then any gift we can ever give them. I would tell your soon to be MIL to "sod off" in a nice way of course. The gall?! Geez...I still can't get over that. Do whatever you want for your family, or do nothing, in the end its your day and the ones who really care about the both of you, wont worry about what they are getting out of this. Good Luck - looks as though your going to need it! -
Help! Bridesmaid Gifts!
Jennybell1 replied to ddiinnyyeell's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I bought my MOH (his sister) a pashmina, starfish necklace (from another BDW bride), a new chain for the neckalce as Im not a big fan of the one it came with, a "bridesmaid" cosmetic bag with coconut bath and body stuff. I think I will plan on getting her a mani/pedi when we are there. I still want to get her a few other things, so keep the ideas coming! -
Post your hair flower here
Jennybell1 replied to yamille's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hi Jennifer Im not sure if my hair is going to be up or down yet, but depending on the style, I may have a flower. Etsy.com has some really nice flowers that I will probably end up getting should I get my hair put up. I have posted some pics below for my hair inspiration. I think (not competely sure) but The bride with her hair up, is actually a BDW bride?? Sorry if I didnt mention you name - forgive me in advance. But I loved her hair with the flower in it. (ex-cousin - with long hair - thats what Im looking at) Hope that helps! -

I wish someone in our family was a photographer...too bad if I were to leave it up to my dad, half of our heads would be cut off the pictures! lol I actually emailed Cecilia from DReams Cancun and she claims that they can't honor the prices from 2010 if we book in 2010 for 2011 which I'm going to wait to speak to her in person about anyway. So I've been driving my futere FI crazy because he sees me on all these wedding websites and he keeps saying "can we wait till we are engaged first?! jeez it's not even going to be a surprise when I propose!" lmao! but it's really hard because I know it's right around the corner so I feel like I at least need to look into things. I was looking at zazzle.com and I thought it was pretty cool how you can make your own postage....I might think of doing that....As far as everything else I guess I'm going to wait until my site visit on 11/26 of this year (and also thanksgiving and my bday!!! woo hoo!lol) I guess maybe then my FI will be more into trying to pick a date and location and all that good stuff....I've been trying to trick him into telling me what days in 2011 he likes but he just rolls his eyes...lol he thinks i'm crazy....ANYWAY as far as weight loss...you are SOOOO luck that you are tall...not only will weight look better on you but your dress will look amazing! I unfortunately am vertically challenged at 5'1"! lol sooooo I'm going to have to learn how to walk in realllllly high heals to make my dress look good. I figured I'll get real serious about my weight come january...i'm going on to cancun in november and christmas is around the corner so I don't necessarily see myself eating healthy then!lol but I'll try!...good job on the OOT bags by the way! I can't wait to get the green light from my future FI...lol Maybe he'll propose on vacation! Yencie, you and are in the exact same boat! My bf keeps saying the same thing to me. He is always rolling his eyes when he sees my on this forum or any other wedding sites. He doesnt understand why we need to be organized and on the ball bc planning in less then a year is brutal. I would rather have most of my stuff figured out now then in 6 months from now and we get married in Jan 2011. I too picked out my ring, he just hasnt ordered it yet. Im pretty sure I wont be getting mine until early next year. He picked out his wedding band a few weeks ago and I paid for it then, so now we are just waiting on its arrival. Totally backwards, but atleast its in some direction and not a stand still. The postage idea is a neat thought, never heard of that before. I think the only other thing I will be doing is getting my ID/badge holders for my OOT bags, and doing my invites. I'm all DIY'd out. Are you doing centrepeices and sashes and all that jazz?? I have seen so many brides doing that, and not that there is anything wrong with it, but I thought that was the whole point behind a DW? No? To avoid having to do all of that and lug it all down there. Im already worried about my OOT bags and contents, let alone thinking about more things to bring down for the wedding. Are you legally getting married there or are you doing a symbolic wedding? I think we have decided to do the legal thing here just before we leave and not tell anyone. Then do just the symbolic part there, that way we dont run into issues with blood tests, and paperwork, and then waiting on the marriage cert from Mexico. It just seems like a lot of added costs to me. Would rather spend that on my trip and honeymoon then give it to the resort or the meixcan government...lol. Your so lucky you get to do a site visit! I wish we could but its just not in the cards for us. We just bought a house last year and have been putting alot of money into it, so its justnot going to work that way for us. Enjoy your time there, let me know how it goes! Im sure you will be beautiful in your dress regardless of how tall you are. Atleast you have the option to shorten your dress, I had to make sure mine was long enough! lol.....Just dont kill yourself in the heels if you plan to get married on the beach....I think we are going barefoot as he is a tiny weeny bit taller then me...dont want to be taller then him...lol...plus I think I would kill myself in the heels in the sand. lol PM me when you get the proposal and a pic of the ring....so excited for you!

Finished OOT Bags *pic heavy*
Jennybell1 replied to Jennybell1's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags

And, also like a pamphlet with the activites of the weekend. I'm just not sure if I should buy the wine down there in bulk- which I think might be a lot of money because everything there is imported or see if I can get a case or something sent from a preferred vineyward. I don't know if that's even allowed to have cases of liquor shipped into the country. Not sure! OOT Bags are "Out of Town" bags that bride and grooms put together for their guests to thank them for coming to their wedding. Usually filled with items theymight have forgotten at home, along with some fun things they can use while they are there. The bottles of wine are also a good idea. Not sure about cost though. I would be afraid to bring them down myself bc of customs and possible breakage. Maybe check to see if a costco is near by where you are planning to go....they might have something. I would think purchasing down there would be much easier then lugging all that down with you, but who knows. Has anyone bought wine down there to give out to their guests -

I will be filing fraud charges (theft under $5000) against Carmen and if anyone else that has been taken by Carmen, feel free to let me know so that I can advise you of your rights too! A shout out goes out to all those honest BDW sellers out there...........too bad not everyone is like you! -
