I have learned that patience is key I would also suggest calling to reserve your date but be prepared that they won't answer emails right away going forward. However, I think communication improves as it gets closer to your wedding date so don't worry about the lag in response. Happy Planning!!! I'm also considering Barcelo Maya Palace for my wedding

I went through the same thing initially. We had people telling me, my FI, my mother, etc. that a DW is a "stupid and selfish idea"...but in the end...it is our wedding. I really want to celebrate with everybody so we decided to have an informal and casual (and local) reception when we come back. That way we have the wedding we want without excluding anybody.

Hi Everyone, I'm just going to echo what most people said. Initially we had the same concern about making people go and spend a ton of money for our wedding. However, our other option is the typical wedding with 200 of our closest acquaintances. We started casually polling our closest friends and family and are putting a reasonable cost of stay as a top priority. Of course you have to expect that even people who are close to you might not be able to make it but ultimately, people are going on vacation so chances are, once they are there, they'll love it.

Hi Everyone, I know this will seem like a relatively stupid question, but since I just started I wanted to get an idea of what has been the general thought out there in past threads (it's very difficult to read thousands of posts ). I know everybody is looking for different things but overall, are there any hotels in Cancun/Riviera Maya that a lot of people have said they were very happy with for their wedding? Or vice versa? Again, I realize it's silly because everybody has different opinions but just wanted to get a VERY general idea. A simple "I love XXXX" or "I hate XXXX" will do Thanks so much! Hi Everyone, I just got engaged this last Sunday and decided to jump right on it. We would like to get married next May/June in Cancun/Mayan Riviera area and I'm already worried that so many hotels seemed to be booked.
