  1. Someone asked about buffet tables - I have this picture that one of the brides posted on this forum a while ago (sorry I can't remember who) - I thought I'd repost - it might help!
  2. I have a question...I've completely given up on getting responses from Ana...so I started emailing DecoCacun and Ana there has been super super helpful. She has the perfect linens and great decor for the reception and cocktail hour and of course it's half the price of what the resort is quoting...So I totally want to use them Is anyone else using DecoCancun for decor/table linens at DRC Is there an outside vendor fee or something I'm going to end up paying for this??
  3. For those worried about montezuma's revenge...first of all...my disclaimer: my fiance and I were there in May and drank the water out of the faucet (I was hungover and thirsty), brushed our teeth, drank drinks with ice cubes, ate fresh fruit AND had tons of Sushi and never experienced so much as a tiny stomach ache...HOWEVER...everyone reacts differently and I told my guests this and suggested that if they have weak digestive systems that they eat a lot of yogurt (naturally high in probiotics - they have it at the world cafe) or bring pro-biotics which are sold over the counter at cvs, or for the older people I suggested they talk to their doctor about antibiotics. Coloradobridesmom - I'm sorry you guys experienced that and I hope you guys feel better soon!

I tried on a veil and I liked it - but then the salesperson put a really pretty hair flower in my hair and took the veil out and I decided I loved that more - so I totally agree with you - try it all on and then make the decision.

Is now the time to start freaking out since SHE WILL NOT EMAIL BACK I know she is busy, and I have respected that for the past few months and have not emailed her, but honestly, over the course of this planning, I have only emailed her about 7 or 8 times in a year... I DO NOT think that is unreasonable, and half of them were repeated emails because she didn't answer my question!!! WTF!! Right there with you girl - I've been sending her THE SAME EMAIL for the last 5 sundays...this sunday, I made my TA send it. And I've been the same way - I hardly bother her and now I can't get a response to simple questions and I'm 3 months out. When I'm 7 days I'll be pulling my hair out. If I were you - I'd keep forwarding the email to her relentlessly until she responds. Good luck!!

Does anyone have a good list of reminders to bring with to Mexico? Any suggestions would help, I feel like I am going to forget EVERYTHING!! Congrats!! Everything is going to go so well for you! If you go to the planning thread on the forum there is a planning journal by LadyDi and she posted her to do list - it includes the whole year, but the week before and the week of the wedding to dos are very detailed and helpful! good luck!!

Honestly, the oil spill shouldn't be a concern for your guests or you at this point. It's a horrible accident but BP and the other oil companies are really doing everything in their power to get this cleaned up and contained.

Okay so when we were there we saw two wedding receptions - but one was in a restaurant and the other was on the deck so it was no issue. Then the next night the entertainment team had a live band on the beach and on the other side of the beach there was a vow renewal with a dj and my fiance and I were thinking how pissed we would be if the entertainment team did that on our wedding night...just as we finished saying it the entertainment team shut the band down (I'm assuming the party complained?) but if it's two weddings...you can't shut one down...it's going to be interesting that's for sure.

When I first booked I was told it was 2 a day as well but I think because of demand it's changed.

I know my family members were hoping to swim at night... is this not allowed Whoa! That's crazy! I did not see a single armed individual the entire time there and we walked around the resort at 2am with no problems...although I did not go to the beach at 2am. As for the beach bar - I went down at 5:30 to see what the beach looked like and we had a few drinks until we left at 6:30 - but there were still people sitting in the swings. I don't remember seeing it open the first night we were there when we went for dinner at 8pm. If that helps any...

We had three in our room every morning - they're rolled up in the little basket on the console in the bathroom

If any other brides are going to be there this week maybe we can run into each other. My wedding will be on May 21 at 5:00 pm so feel free to come and hang out with us all lol Congrats!!! So excited for you - the wedding is going to be beautiful and don't stress about the rain! The forecast in Mexico always claims it's going to rain! I'll send you happy sunny thoughts all week! (and even if it does, the backup location is really really really pretty!)

That just seems pretty high to me, because when I called the hotel directly it was much cheaper then that. I got a quote for 4 nights a thurs arrival and monday departure it was $1179 per couple for the standard garden view room. I don't know it might be cheaper for my guests to go through the hotel directly. ohhh love Heather - you'll be so so so happy! Keep in mind that she price matches, so if there's some crazy sale a few months before your trip she'll rebook all your guests (that booked with her) at that lower price... We gave people the option - we just put a little insert in our save the dates that said "we've chosen to book our travel with..., please call her at.... if you'd like to book through her" I'd say most of the older guests are all using Heather, most of our friends are booking on their own. Although I've had several conversations with Heather about the complaints on trip advisor about checking in and she said that Berman Travel has a really good relationship with Dreams so her clients only experience upgrades and if they try to pull anything with people she's booked, we can call her from Mexico and she'll deal with it. Which made me feel a lot better! We're September of this year, which is shoulder season and historically a slow season for the resort - so we're paying I believe 2300 for 7 nights. My future brother in law and his girlfriend did 5 nights and is paying 1200 (Oceanview).
  16. I'm sorry - I feel compelled to jump in - I absolutely agree with you that it's tragic what is happening to the sea life...more tragic what has happened to those 11 human beings that were killed and my heart goes out to their families and friends - and to their coworkers on the rig. Now here's my disclaimer - I am connected to the oil industry, my fiance is employed by an oil company and so maybe the way I look at things is different then others because of it. with that said...I have to disagree with any comments about oil executives not handling the situation - the oil companies are pulling together to try to fix this - but the bottom line is, this was a tragic accident and it didn't just involve one company, it involved several and them along with their competitors are stepping up to get this fixed. So instead of pointing fingers at an oil company and it's executives or dwelling on what they're saying to the media, I'd rather just say a prayer for the families of the victims, the fishermen in louisiana and florida and even parts of texas who are affected and of course for the animals who have been affected. That's my two cents. Now I'll step off my soap box. I really don't mean any offense to anyone - I just felt the need to voice my opinion.

She calms me down regularly!

We also have the quote from this song on our programs: "I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand, not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand, life is good today". It is very fitting for our personalities. My bridesmaids will walk in to the theme from Forrest Gump. It is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite compositions ever! It is the song in the movie when the feather is falling . I will then walk into an instrumental version of "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis. I found a piano version on iTunes and I love it. I am not decided on the recessional song yet, we will probably stick with Signed, Sealed, Delivered. For the sand ceremony we are going to do a Dave Matthews song. We are leaning towards You and Me, but are not 100% certain. love love love all of your songs! I love the zac brown song - it gets me so excited for the wedding when I hear it on my ipod! hahaha

My mind is foggy and I feel lost. Not sure what's the best look. I want to book an excursion, which vendor are some of you ladies using? My budget is about $1k and we have 40 guests coming. I know read sometime back of a vendor that sells cheap chair sashes and table top covers. Do any of you have this vendor handy that you can supply me with? OOHH and for those of you who hav wed there already, how many songs would you say I need for the ceremony? I suppose it would be nice to have music playing while the guests wait, right? Help, help, help....thanks girls, xoxo. Hey girl! Our groomsmen are wearing white cotton button down shirts and khaki pants - we found lightweight ones at JCrew that weren't overly expensive. We looked at linen shirts but I'm not a fan of the wrinkly mess they'll probably look like because those boys will not iron...and their cost. Congrats! You're sooooo close!!!
