Kinda worried about the planning though! I know Ana is probly over worked, but it takes forever to get a reply and i worry if she'll ahve everything documented and ironed out when we get there...anyone else have this fear? Former brides.. tell me how this worked out for you when you arrived!! BethAnne - you should talk to Ana about the wine room - I've heard from her and others that it's beautiful. Although you do have to buy upgraded wine to use it the cost of the wine is minimal compared to the cost of a private reception. It might be a nice place for your group!

You have two options really for your reception - you can choose a private reception or a non-private reception. For a private reception - you pay per person for the food and drink (I think it's $32 plus tax but don't quote me on that - the contract is on my laptop). You have your own bar and buffet or waiter service. So the per person fee that you're paying is really to cover the cost of the set up, take down and extra staff needed for your event. You can choose to have your reception on the pool deck, the pool terrace, the beach and probably a few other locations. IF the resort is less than 60% occupancy (or bad weather), they will let your private reception move into the closed restaurant. Still costs per person and you still have your own wait staff/bartenders and you pick the menu. But there is no extra charge on top of the cost of a private event. If you choose not to have a private reception, you can have your wedding dinner in one of the OPEN restaurants - along with other guests from the hotel. You'll have to talk to Ana about having tables reserved close to each other, or having a portion sectioned off - she would be able to put you in touch with the restaurant manager to do this. You can also choose to have your dinner in the wine room between the italian restaurant and the french one - it fits 25 people and you have to buy bottles of upgraded (not included in the all inclusive package) wine in order to use the room. Does that make sense?

Hi - I thought I'd chime in because I'm experiencing the same thing...in my situation my future in laws doing this because they want a reaction from us - they want to stir up drama and make a scene. So no matter how hurt we are that they're doing this (and personally I feel like this is the straw and I want them both out of our lives) we refuse to give them what they want...attention. It's depressing and I'm so sorry for you and your fiance, my heart really breaks for your fiance (and mine) because I can't understand how a parent can treat thier child this way. My advice would be to not fuel the fire with a letter. Good luck with everything and keep us posted. Your wedding is going to be beautiful and amazing!!

And yes - the reception was at the Seaside Grill. Which I think is an excellent option/choice if your party is on the smaller side. I'm not sure what the capacity for a reception is in that restaurant - but if you want enough room for dancing, I'd guess around 40pp. It's nice because it's covered overhead, but you still get a beautiful view of the ocean and the pools, yet your group is separated into a private area. That party had a buffet set up for the reception and then the light-up dance floor in the middle of the restaurant. -Hope this helps. I talked to Yazmin about this at our site visit - she said that if occupancy is 60% or LESS you can use the restaurant that is closed down for the reception. They close one restaurant each night but they don't decide which restaurant until a day or two before. We're actually going to do this for our welcome dinner. Here's the deal with that though - you won't know which restaurant until you get there and it is based on occupancy. So it can be done, but you'll have to have a plan b in case it doesn't work out.

Ana said the pool deck isn't available for our reception. I don't want it on the beach. I'm just kind of bummed because I feel like maybe if she had gotten back to me over a month ago when I first emailed her we could have gotten the reception where we wanted it, maybe not though. I just can't see paying all this money and then not having the big things the way you want. I can see some small things maybe not going so smoothly but the reception location is a big deal to me. I emailed her to see what other options besides the beach were available. Now just waiting to hear. Ohh that stinks I'm sorry. I've been told that to be fair to everyone getting married that day, the bride and groom who booked first get first choice for location - it still stinks but at least you know they're being fair and it's not just Ana taking too long to get back to you. Your reception is going to be amazing no matter where you have it The whole resort is beautiful and I'm sure she'll find you a perfect location!!!!

The (extremely long) countdown is on! Lindsay Congrats Lindsay! The months fly by! I swear just yesterday I was 10 months away from getting married...now I'm three! YIKES!

My fiance will stay with one of his brothers if necessary.

Glad to know things come together in the end. I didn't get my contract for my date until last week after trying to book in April - wedding is less than a month away! I did get an email saying I had the date after a month, though. Also, I am using the resort photographer, but want to do TTD the next day. Should I schedule another appointment (and how much would it be?) or do will they do the shoot then and just charge for the pics chosen? Thanks for those in the know! I think the "private check in and welcome cocktail" is meant as - when you check in at your designated area your guests are greeted with a cocktail...that was my interpretation.

For ladies interested in using Decocancun.com for lounge furniture or any other decor - I talked to Ana from Deco Cancun and she said she's worked there before, and hasn't needed a day pass. She said that as soon as she sends over a final proposal, I just need to send it to Ana and Dreams so she is aware they'll be working there. She said they've worked at DRC a lot and are very familiar with the set ups and locations.

Cathy ohhh tell them to use Cancunshuttle.com - they can reserve and pay online - I used it for my site visit and they were awesome! We had an entire van to ourselves, it was $65 round trip for 2 people. To keep the cost down they can reserve the non private van - all the prices are on the website!

When I was a BM in Hawaii (much less humidity than Texas) the make up artist used liquid and I was shiny all night. It's pretty humid in Puerto Morelos, right? Hi! I live in Texas as well and use bare minerals! I am going to use my own makeup and tools. When I was at the resort in May it was Houston humid - so I used an oil controlling gel as a base and then just the bare minerals powder - I didn't use any foundation or tinted moisturizer and I touched up when I thought about it and I was fine. Its what I do down here in the summer as well. I didn't have a chance to look at their makeup, I just know what works for me in that heat so I'm going to go with that - play it safe

I haven't had a chance to ask the woman from Decocancun if she knows how DRC handles them as outside vendors yet though...but even so they're really reasonable.

She might even know the answer to that. If you find out, could you let me know? -Allegra Oh good idea - when I respond to her last email today I'll ask her and let you know. She's fantastic! I had just emailed about the napkins, tablecloths and chairs first but now she's bringing pink and orange pillows for the cocktail hour, vases with gems and fun paper lanterns...the best part is, it's all costing about half what the chairs and tablecloths would have cost at the resort!

Ohh Laura - I have a question for you! So I'm looking at your set up and I see the buffet set up along the back, and the tables in front and the dj in the back corner next to the cake... Where was your dance floor? Was it in the middle of the deck or off to a side? I'm trying to remember the configuration I saw when I was down there and for the life of me I can't remember! Thanks!
