Ok, I just have to vent for a sec. My family isn't going to Mexico in February for our wedding so they want me to drop everything and plan and focus solely on our May 5th AHR. My girlfriend is planning my Bachelorette party but keeps asking me what she should plan and everyone keeps RSVPing to me rather than my girlfriend. I feel like I have to make every darn decision and this is getting really old. To top it off a girlfriend from out of town wants to bring her husband to the bachelorette party. I am sorry but has everyone taken stupid and selfish pills????

I was wondering the same thing. How are you St. Lucia? My family is obsessed with our AHR that is planned for May 5th (didn't intentionally pick Cinco de Mayo!) so they are focusing on that since none will be going to Mexico. A bit of a pain as they expect me to drop everything to plan the AHR and focus solely on that, but I have most of it planned out now so hopefully they will leave me the hell alone so I can enjoy Mexico. Ugh.

You can definitely start the dress finding process and just hold off on buying it. I think that is a great motivator! Good luck and 30 pounds and keeping it off is awesome! You should be proud of yourself!

Hi MiaLei. I am not sure if this question is directed to me or not. Our wedding isn't until February 11th but we did do a site visit last year. We will have our wedding at Coral Beach by the Palace and our reception will be at Playa Azul at the other end of the resort. We decided to go with the Strawberry Passion package as we wanted our reception outside. We decided if we are getting married in Mexico, we want to be outside on the beach than inside a banquet room with no windows. Totally a choice and preference as well as what works best for your budget. If you are considering a banquet room, then I suggest asking for pictures so that you can make a somewhat informed decision given that you have not been able to visit the resort.

I saw some that looked just like them at Pottery Barn about 6 months ago. I have no idea if they still have them but you could check online. They were quite spendy from what I remember but very lovely.

You need to ask your WC. They will tell you if you have a choice or if they only offer round, rectangular, etc...That will also help with planning centerpieces and how many.

Beautiful colors! What flower did you substitute for the orchids? I have the same situation the orchids are extra. I am looking at pom daisies, fuji mums, asiatic lilies and alstroemeria.

I agree - it is when it is most convenient for you. I am having a family bridal shower after the wedding!

Yes, all the extras add up so we are trying to keep it simple. I read on a thread on Unofficial Barcelo that a bride chose not to go with a dance floor or dj and just brought her own iPod and their guests thought it was great. The sand did not deter anyone from dancing and everyone had a ball. I bought an iPod (now I use it whenever I want!) and set up an event on FB and invited our guests to the "event." I have asked guests to submit song requests and they are pretty into it. I have received quite a few requests and think our guests will love that they helped to choose the songs for the reception. Just an idea. We want to keep costs low.

We were really struggling with online pictures so we went to a florist yesterday and looked at flowers and decided what flowers will compliment one another and go well together. Finally!

We chose Coral Beach as we wanted a beach location but the Gazebo is gorgeous. The only thing I didn't like was that the lobby is right behind you so I wasn't sure about the privacy of that. I have heard that Playa Azul is very private as is Coral Beach. Have you done a site visit?

I had Red-i by Chelsea make hair accessories for my bridesmaids and they turned out exactly as I wanted. She sent me pics as she worked on them to show me her progress and if she was going in the direction that I wanted. I highly recommend her!

A little update. Talked to my mom today and she was in a more reasonable mood. Three hour reception from 2:00-5:00 and no dance. Buffet kind of food - no formal dinner and no seating arrangements so not quite the big to-do that she originally was pushing for. I am taking advantage before she changes her mind!

Lol. My family is a pretty selfish bunch which I can usually ignore but since this is my wedding, it is just that much more difficult to ignore it. I am getting excited. We went to a florist today to look at flowers as online pictures just were not helping us make a decision. I think we found some flowers that we really like!

I think that is fine to put your parents and his dad together and have your FMIL with family that she likes and will have fun with.

Our AHR will be May 5th - almost three months after our wedding. We are holding it in my hometown. Nothing fancy. I don't want a dance but this is my mother's show (it has turned into what she wants rather than what we want) so I have no idea how that will turn out.

When we originally looked at Barcelo, we asked about having the wedding at the Palace if we stayed there but our guests stayed at one of the lower end hotels. Our WC told us there was no charge for the guests to attend the wedding and reception - they would only have to pay a day pass if they wanted to use the Palace on days other than our wedding day. Who is your WC 780Chick?

My bridal shower/bachelorette party with friends only is two weeks prior to our wedding in February. Our AHR is almost three months later in May so my official shower with family will be March or April. So busy and it seems to never end just to please so many people!

I am starting to get really excited because it is now starting to feel real! Have the dress, the groom's suit, the rings - all that really matters but still so much to do! lol Cannot wait!

Are you able to make changes to the Etsy flower instead of starting from scratch?

The halter is perfect for the beach yet it is still very sophisticated. Beautiful choice.
