  1. They look wonderful and congratulations on your marriage! I like your ideas - thanks for the tips on where to find everything!
  2. This is a great idea. I have never seen this before - had only seen individual photos of the couple surrounding the guest book at a table. I love the idea of making it more personal rather than a generic blank guest book. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Thanks so much for the advice! I hope you are all healed from your wrist fracture. What a horrible thing to happen on vacation! BTW, I love your poem! Is that the real story of how you met and fell in love?
  4. Thanks for the great tips. I am going to look into some of these links as well as search on other threads. Thanks!
  5. Yes it will depend on when and where you get married as well as time of day. But your dress is incredibly gorgeous! And I had never heard of honey dust so that is a great tip!
  6. Great tips! I LOVE packing lists so this will come in so handy!
  7. I LOVE this thread! I was thinking of two weeks at DW location - fly there on Friday and get married on Tues with the next week to ourselves. I love the idea of bringing your own IPod and docking station for music. These are such wonderful ideas. Keep them coming!
  8. Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the feedback. We don't have a wedding website yet but I do think it would be very useful for our guests to be able to have lists of and links to various activities. I like the idea of a meet and greet brunch or something similar. Great ideas and much appreciated!
  9. The park we are considering has a large covered pavilion with picnic tables that would easily hold around 150 guests - although I doubt that we would have that many people. You all have great suggestions for ways and things to serve. Thanks for the great feedback!
  10. I like the idea of including them for a reading or something similar but it still keeps it a small wedding party. Thanks for the help ladies!
  11. Since guests will be traveling long distances and paying for their stay, has anyone considered or done research on activities (outside of the wedding day) for the guests? This would include what kinds of activities, cost and who pays? I am worried not to have enough for guests to do but at the same time, planning activities and asking them to pay seems rude, however, wanting to keep costs down and within our budget makes it difficult to find the money to do this. Any thoughts or ideas or experiences?
  12. I have four sisters who are quite a bit older than me - love them all but I do not want four bridesmaids. I just want one MOH and that is it. I am doing a DW to avoid a huge wedding at home. My sisters are not interested in standing in front of a crowd anyway so I don't think that they will mind not having to do that, however, I am concerned that their feelings may still be hurt. I would like to have my best friend be my MOH. Any suggestions on how to tell the sisters?
  13. You just saved people a ton of a lot of money by posting this rather than everyone going out and spending money on a wedding planner. Thanks so much!
  14. I love the ideas here. I want to keep it simple, elegant but inexpensive and within budget so this is very helpful!
  15. I like the idea of making a spreadsheet to put it all down to see the differences between our wants/needs and budget and how that compares with our location choices. Thanks for the feedback - I think this will help me tremendously!
  16. FI was asking me my opinion about an AHR - we both want one but I would really like to keep it simple. We are getting married in February so I think waiting until June when the weather is nicer and more people could attend would work best. I was thinking about renting a covered picnic area at a local lake would work best. We can grill, ask our families to help as much as possible with preparing food, buy the drinks and people can hang out, swim, playground for kids, etc...Our home is way to small for anymore than 20 people and I don't want a formal reception at a hotel. Any other suggestions?
  17. I was reminded of so many great songs...Can I walk down the aisle multiple times?
  18. FI is going to do more research on locations but I am guessing Mexico will be the location. I have been looking at other threads related to flowers, dresses, resorts, etc...Definitely getting some good ideas. I am so happy that a friend of mine suggested this site as she is also doing a DW. Thanks everyone!
  19. We are looking at Cozumel so let me know what you find. I want real flowers rather than artificial as well.
  20. There are lots of great ideas here. After reading the difficulties that some people have had with receiving their artificial flowers, though, I am leaning toward real flowers at the site. I will need to do more research but given the fact that you are using flowers that come from the area and don't need to be shipped, I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that the cost would be cheaper than anything I would buy in my hometown. I don't really like the idea of relying on someone to send my flowers to me in time for the wedding...Makes a bit nervous to think about that...
  21. I have been searching and haven't really found any information related to the topic of photographers. I have seen that some couples fly in a photographer for a few days, but this seems ridiculously expensive as they request flight and room fees on top of their usual fees. Are there really no reliable or decent photogaphers in Mexico (specifically Cozumel) that I can use without having to fly someone in for the wedding
  22. Maybe a very stupid question, but I have read different postings on travel insurance. How much is the average price, what does it typically cover and is it worth it?
  23. I have looked online and (despite the name) I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw about Mr. Sanchos. I will be anxious to hear more about your experiences.
