    KP we are also looking at Barcelo Maya and Dreams Riviera Cancun. Ceiba would be an easy choice if it was just us but we have some younger people coming (late teens-early 20's) who will likely want more activities available. But I really love Ceiba.

    Thanks Tammy. I am reading more and more about the importance of having everything written into the contract. Has anyone heard about Ceiba del Mar's willingness to allow you to count rooms booked thru online sites?

    I have to say that my FI and I felt the same way when we were there. It was so funny because we called them last minute on our last full day there asking if they could take us on a tour. Dianna was great and showed us around. Really took the time to talk to us and ask us about what we were looking for. It felt like home when we were there. Strange to say I know but that is just how it felt. We haven't officially decided yet but I really hope that Ceiba works out. I am so happy for you both Tweets and KPSouthie! I cannot wait to see your wedding photos!

    We have narrowed it down to Ceiba del Mar, Barcelo Maya and Dreams Riviera Cancun. We are really leaning toward Ceiba. I want to book soon so we can move on to more fun things! Thanks Marla! Congrats to you as well!

    Lillion showed us around the resort and stayed late to do so. She was very nice and informative so you may want to try reaching out to her instead.

    TA Wendy, you are great! More questions! If you are able to get us cheaper rated through online sites and not directly through the hotel, are we still able to get resort credits or other programs such as the free upgrade to a suite or free cocktail reception, etc... since we are still providing the hotel with the required number of rooms?

    I like the idea of being more relaxed during the weekend. I hear ya about the sweet tooth! I am known for having a tbs of nutella out of the jar! Perry is the 30 Day Shred doable? I have heard that Jillian can really push it!

    Hi TA Wendy, are there retainer fees or another fees attached to using a TA?

    We attended a destination wedding last year and the bride was able to store the dress in a first class closet. I think that if the airline wants your business, they will find a way to accommodate you.

    I have looked in magazines and cannot find one that I really like but I need to find a dress first. That might help!

    My FI and I just stayed at Me Cancun and were not impressed. They call themselves a romantic getaway and they are nowhere near that. Nice decor but very LOUD and definitely a spring break party vibe. Saw a wedding on the beach and there was no privacy with beach goers sitting just a few feet away. Beach was littered with cigarette butts and loud drunk people. I wrote a more detailed review in another Me by Melia thread if you want to check it out.

    We are looking at February 2012. Narrowing down the sites and need to make a decision soon!

    Barcelo has a beautiful gazebo that is pictured above. I did not see a nicer one at the other sites we visited. We are considering a gazebo as well and Barcelo by far has the best.

    Does anyone have fun and relatively inexpensive ideas for group events/excursions in the Riviera Maya region? We want to say thank you to the folks attending but don't want to pay a fortune for it.

    Thanks Tweets and Savvybride for the information about the OOT bags. I have been looking for this information. I like the idea of OOT bags but not paying $10-$20 per bag as some sites list. I have seen posts about bug issues. Is this a problem year-round or more of an issue in the their warmer and more rainy months like the summer?

    Have a few questions for you smart brides out there who have done the research! First, if you use outside vendors for decorations, chairs, etc...does the resort charge you a fee for using them and allowing them access to the resort? Second, anyone have any idea when the 2012 prices will come out?

    Sharon, I LOVE the idea of going back to the beach now! Spring cannot come quickly enough. I feel a cold coming on right now so maybe a lack of appetite will get the ball rolling. lol
