  1. Kisekae, let me look thru my Barcelo info as I think I saw the prices somewhere. I believe it is listed as price per person per hour.
  2. Ok, shoes are eluding me! I search every single day to no avail! We are having our ceremony and reception in the sand but I do not want a flat! I want a wedge to avoid sinking into the sand but cannot find one that I think goes well with my dress. HELP!!! Any lovely wedges out there that anyone has found???? Dear God this is worse than looking for my dress!!!
  3. I am going to take a trip to our local arboretum and conservatory to get some ideas for bouquets and floral arrangements. I have looked at so many online I think I need to see some in person to get a better feel for what I like and want. Wish me luck!
  4. Your dress and shoes are fantastic! I am so sorry about the fake website. It makes me sad that there are people like that in this world!
  5. I have a feeling that your nephews would have a blast playing dj all night. Maybe if you approached them first, then showed your fiance how willing and able they are to perform the task, then he might change his mind! Sometimes you need to set the stage so they can see their worries are unfounded....
  6. Ok ladies, question about everyone's receptions. Our ceremony is at 4:00 pm at Coral Beach and our reception will be at Playa Azul. We haven't decided on the time for the reception - I am thinking 6:00 - but our reception only goes for 3 hours. Has anyone added time to their receptions, if so then how long and was it worth it??? It is kind of a big expense which is why we don't want to add a cocktail hour...
  7. 3 bridesmaid dresses ordered (one already in!) and one to go! I am starting to get into panic mode that we will get everything done in time!!!
  8. Sharon, sounds like what we have been dealing with here. Love the idea of testing these out and Sharon you are right, this is the perfect weather to test them!
  9. We did quite a bit of research on this particular topic. What we found was that a travel agent was able to get a us a price comparable to what we were finding online and the resort will honor any lower rates that we find after we have reserved a block of rooms. You are required to block a minimum of 10 rooms at $100 per room (so $1000) but that money goes toward your package. You will need to work with your travel agent as well as a wedding coordinator from Barcelo. If your date is available, then they will hold your dates and locations for two months but will need to send the wedding coordinator your booking confirmation number in order for your wedding to be reserved. Each package details what is included and for how many people. Not sure if this is where you were going with this question but I hope this helps.
  10. Those colors are so vibrant and beautiful! We are finally getting to the fun part of the planning and I am excited to make decisions about flowers!
  11. I finally bought an iPod touch and will be downloading the dj app after this weekend. We are setting up a FB page for our guests to post their song requests for the reception and dance. Thanks pucca for that idea!!
  12. Have you tried this dress on? Pictures are so different than when you put one on. If you have tried it on and compare all others to it, then trust me that it is the one!
  13. Dreams had no real private area for a wedding - everything was right in the middle of all of the action and other guests. Dreams had no gazebo - they had a structure next to the infinity pool but nothing that would really be a real gazebo. I do have to say that DRC had the most AMAZING spa I have ever seen! The Strawberry Passion package is $3385 but worth the privacy.
  14. We did site visits at quite a few resorts. Packages at Barcelo were pretty comparable to Dreams, however, their room rates were far better so you save money that way. The only resort I found where you could create your own unique wedding (meaning no packages) was Ceiba del Mar, however, the cost of roundtrip airfare and a week's stay for a couple cost about $6000. So in our research, Barcelo was actually the best price for packages and rates. What Diana from Ceiba told us was that most brides got carried away with the extras - decorations, dance floor, dj, etc...when you really don't need much for decorations (the tropical locale mostly takes care of that), you can bring an ipod with your own music and people can dance in the sand. But it depends on each bride and what they want and are willing to pay for what they have in mind for their special day.
  15. I would love to wear wedges as well. I live near some lakes so I plan to wear a pair that I already own to the local beach and see how it works. I will let you know if wedges work in the sand!
