  1. OMG! Gorgeous dress - love that back! You look so beautiful! I hope you had a wonderful time! I am less than four months to go and am getting really excited!
  2. Ok, not sure if anyone can help me with this but we still haven't purchased our airfare for our wedding to Mexico in February. Rates have been super high but just wondering if anyone has found really great deals out there? It is so hard to know when to purchase tickets because prices could go down but they could just as easily go up instead. So frustrating! Thanks!
  3. Stupid question but what color is it? Just wondering if it would stain my dress at all?
  4. Good lord I should have guessed by the name! lol Thankfully I know where to find the one nearest me!
  5. Thanks for posting. I think I may have inadvertently added to this firestorm and controversy with my questions so I apologize if I offended anyone but given the breakdown below where the "US standard of 15-20%" clearly doesn't apply across the board (some state specific dollar ranges versus an actual percentage of total cost) I think this is a legitimate question. If I am paying over $4000+ for my wedding and I give everyone a 20% tip, then that adds up pretty quickly. I want to be fair but also not break the bank. I think that it is appropriate to tip and show that you appreciate the service and also recognize that these people don't get paid a huge salary, however, my fiance and I are paying for this ourselves and don't have huge incomes to pay dozens of people 20% across the board. People are on this forum to ask questions and receive polite responses in kind - not have judgment passed on them. That is my two cents.
  6. Where did you get it Sharon? My wedding is in February so I don't anticipate that it will be that hot, however, you never know if it is unseasonably warm so I would like to be prepared!
  7. There are many threads on here related to photographers. First step is determine your budget then go from there. Under the vendors section there is a photographer ratings. I would start there. Good luck!
  8. I think you are already doing much of the work yourself. I love Del Sol but they were more than we can afford. Their sister company La Luna isn't much cheaper and I found the same to be true of Claudia. I think if you have finalized the budget and reached out to those whose style you love to find out pricing, hours, number of photographers and have read reviews, that is the only way to determine who will best fit your needs. I am doing the same research but haven't finalized a photographer yet. That is my goal to be done with that by the end of this week as I am on vacation and using the bulk of that time to accomplish and cross off a few wedding items on my to-do list. Good luck!
  9. I agree with most - the front style of #1 with the back style of #3. I think with the addition of the hair flower on #1, that will make it seem more balanced. Is this hairstylist coming with you to your DW or are you bringing these pictures with you to show the stylist that you will use on your wedding day?
  10. Are you talking about a lace up in the back or an actual lace gown? My gown is lace and I love it but I think I maybe biased!
  11. My veil sounds the same as DRb2b. Finger tip length with small pearls along on the edge of it. One layer - two were too many and made my head look way too big ....lol. I originally was just going to have flowers in my hair but really liked the look of the veil with my dress. Not sure if I will remove it after the ceremony and post-ceremony pics but we will see.
  12. My dress is lace. I wasn't sure what I would like but was very surprised that "the one" was lace. I suggest trying on many different fabrics and styles. Looks can be deceiving and you never know what will look flattering on your body type. Even try on dresses that you think would never look good on you as you may be surprised. Good luck!
  13. Sorry. My post did not appear. I ordered picture frame place card holders. They have a beach theme look to them and I figure that they can also double as a favor where guests can place pictures from their trip after they get home. We have some guests who do not get along well so we need to have assigned seats.
  14. I ordered some picture frames for our place cards. They have a beach theme to them and also double as a party favor as well. I figure they can use them later to place pictures of their trip. We have some guests who do not get along with one another so I need to do a seating chart so that they don't end up at the same table.
  15. We have had the same issue. We registered online for four charities of our choosing and posted it on our wedding website. However, people are still asking us to register for gifts. We are also an established couple so we don't need much. Sure there are always items that you would like to have, but nothing that we can't live without. Most of my family won't be at our DW so I think this is their way to make themselves feel better about not going - they can afford it but choose not to go so if they give us presents then they can feel better. I have a feeling that we will need to register for gifts but really hope that people will put that money toward our charities instead. Good luck!
  16. I would suggest early November as well. I live in MN so if you can avoid having guests travel during potential bad snowstorm weather, then I think November is your best bet. Good luck!
  17. Thanks for posting this. I was wondering who to tip so this is very helpful. Any guidance on how much? You mentioned the 15-20% but does that apply across the board?
  18. My fiance doesn't wear watches, works as a chemist so he rarely wears suits, and I am not interested in posing for BD photos - just not my thing. I would love to get him something that will stand the test of time that he can look at in the future and remember our wedding. I am not sure what that will be yet. I need to keep searching. Good luck to you ladies!
  19. One other question, our reception is at Playa Azul, and pictures that I have seen of the location show lights around the palapa poles as well as lights along the top. I am assuming these come with the site and we don't have to bring them, but wanted to be sure. Also, how much light do they provide? Wondering how much light we need to have in the center of our tables so we need to figure out how many LED votives to buy.
  20. I just heard back from my WC and she said that the staff take down the decorations and will get it back to us but they need to start taking it down when your reception is scheduled to end. I am thinking that we will have a schedule for the day for our guests and add the Palace lobby bar or Jaguars as the after-reception party location. I want to keep costs down and adding on hours is just too expensive to make it worth it. We still need to pay for an AHR after the wedding as well!
  21. stluciabound, I am so sorry to hear about your situation. It is very sad that your fiance chose a demanding, selfish and horrible family over your relationship. However, if he is that weak and unable to cut the cord, then you are likely better off without him down the road. No children who will have to be exposed to his family and their cruel ways and even though you have to separate your belongings now, you can have a fresh start with people who love and support you. Don't ever settle for the bare minimum amount that someone will give you. If they don't support you and your relationship, then they will not be there when things get truly trying and difficult. You deserve someone who supports you, your relationship and wants to do everything they can to protect it. Know that we are all here for you.
  22. I have been debating about makeup as well. I have vacation all next week so my plan is to go to Sephora for a consultation one day and MAC the next to compare. My resort uses MAC and it comes with our package but I want to try it out in advance rather than wait for my wedding day. I have oily skin for the most part but get the occasional dry patch in cold weather. I need something that will control the oil but not create more problems for the occasional dry skin I may have. Thanks for all the tips - I will try them out next week and report back what I find!
  23. Hi Ladies! I am four months from my wedding date (scary to see that in writing!) and I really need to get in shape. I eat fairly healthy but need to increase my activity level greatly. I plan to end my gym membership (haven't been there in AGES!) but need to find something to do at home that won't kill me after being sedentary for so long! I am reading that many brides are recommending 30 Day Shred so I plan to go that route to start. I work this weekend (doing overnight respite care all weekend) so my plan is to start Monday morning. Wish me luck! I need motivation and accountability. I want to feel beautiful on my wedding day but even more importantly, I want to feel more energetic and live more healthy. Wish me luck!
  24. This is a great question. I am at the point where I am starting to plan for this as well so I am interested to hear what others have done or will do. Thanks for asking this!
