NO not if they are a guest, only if they are coming in for the day and then leaving do you pay the vendor fee. I just confirmed that info for the RIU Negril.
Yes this does apply to the Riu Negril. I am getting married July 24 and I got my email last week about the $200 vendor fee and policy stating no vendors allowed in the Rooms or Blocks( meaning buildings). I started email Dionne last year about prices for photographers and because she quoted me less than the $200 she is will to honor that email quote. But the new fee is $200. So if your photographer is not staying at your hotel it may be cheaper to book a room versus pay the $200 fee.
OH that is great they are starting to offer the free package, too bad it wasn't for 2010. As far as the photographer not being allowed in the rooms, you might want to clarify that with Dionne, cause I just got the email this week stating no outsider vendors are allowed in the rooms, this is hotel policy.
You are right TA Maureen, yes the WC at the RIU said it was hotel policy that no vendors are allowed in the rooms. But if they are guest staying at the hotel then they are permitted.
Hello, I am getting married at RIU Negril next month and was just informed that no photographers are allowed in the rooms to take pictures before the wedding. Did any other RIU brides get told this and if so how did you handle the pre-wedding pictures?
Beachymombride, I can't wait for the review. I am getting married there next month and can't wait. Also there is not a free package at the Riu Negril only Riu Tropical Bay. Yes I was just informed that no outside photographers are allowed in the rooms, but If the photographer is not allowed in the rooms, how do you get pictures while you are getting dressed and doing make up? Did your daughter have video also? If so how was this done if no one is allowed in the rooms?
I did STD, once people made their final payments, then I sent a wedding package to include Boarding Pass Invite, Welcome Letter, Luggage Tags, and Information about Jamaica. That way I only paid for enough invitations for those who are actually attending.
There are about 16 people joining us in Jamaica for our wedding, so I am doing the reception dinner that comes with the package and then we can all change and go to the night club at the resort for dancing. Didn't see the point in paying for a full blown reception for a small group.
Glad I saw this thread today, I am experiencing the same issue, people are dropping like flies. But me and FI talked and we have the attitude, that as long as we are there, that is all that matters.
I am doing a Welcome Happy Hour at one of the Bars, and handing out the OOT bags then, which will also give me the opportunity to welcome everyone the Friday night before the wedding.
I am using Marcia Roberts and here is her website Jamaica wedding photographer , Marcia Roberts, Negril, Ocho Rios ,Montego Bay, Kingston, www.jamaicanphotography.com
I am not a traditional person, but sticking to this tradition of not seeing the dress until I come down the aisle. I haven't told him anything about the dress so he is anxious to see me in it.
This is a good idea, my bridesmaid dresses are floral design, so thinking of using parasols instead of bouquets. Thanks for the idea. Again this forum is great information.
