tracy I'm surprised that your dad is having problems at the age of 65!! The main cutoffs that I knew of seemed to be more around the 75 or 80 yrs of age (which is where FI's grandparents all fit in). Check with the company that your traveling through to see if they have recommendations for where to get insurance if they aren't able to offer it to you. A couple suggestions are through RBC Travel or CAA Quebec Travel Insurance... I can't tell you what the coverage is like but WestJet recommends RBC and lots of people have recommended CAA.

hmmm... do you have kids or teens attending that were also going to receive these mugs? Maybe you could do the DIY mugs for them which would free up a few for the adult guests? Otherwise you could contact discountmugs again and try speaking with a supervisor to explain your situation and see if they're able to give you a better deal than the last person you spoke with? And if I've got your numbers correct, you have 39 ppl booked and 39 mugs... so maybe going with another 12 mugs wouldn't be the worst thing if you are still expecting some last minute booking?? I would hope that at a minimum they would agree to give you the additional 12 mugs for the same base cost as your last order. Another question... assuming you did purchase the mugs at the higher price, and add that total cost to what you've already paid - how much does that work out to per mug for the entire batch? I'm wondering if your price would go from say $5.25/pc up to $5.80/pc once its spread out across 50mugs and the incremental cost for the whole order wouldn't seem quite as bad??

Ugh Jill... I can totally relate with the health insurance/trip coverage for grandparents!! My own aren't coming but FI's are and it was quite the issue getting their trips booked and making sure they were covered. Thankfully his mom lives in the same town (they're all in Manitoba) and I left it as her responsibility to get them through the process. It was my secret punishment to her for all the hassle she'd been giving me at the time, heheheh! It sounds like you've got it all sorted out now though so at least it's out of the way. Isn't it nice when FI actually starts getting involved too? Mine hasn't really done ANYTHING up to this point because he thought I was getting way too involved way too early but now that we're down to the last couple months he's definitely being reasonable and not giving me attitude when I ask for his help or opinion on things. I'm starting to realize (as much as I hate to admit it) that women really do have the genetic coding for things like planning weddings and having babies... while men just - don't. Fi just doesn't seem to realize all the things that needed to be done (and have been done by me along the way) but at least it's getting better now.

hehehe... if your embellishments spread like they have two legs, those are called brads. If they are round, (often have a hole through the middle) and you have to use a small tool (called a setter) those are called eyelets. And OH MAN - I just googled Beach Ball Brads to see what it would come up with and you should DEFINITELY look to ebay for these things!! Beach Ball brads - ebay Beach umbrella brads - ebay and make sure you check out the sellers other items because they also had sand bucket & shovel brads, surf boards etc... Another random site that seemed half decent was The Eyelet Outlet.. and brads which appears to ship to Canada and I can't imagine there being much in the way of brokerage or customs fees on such small items and low cost... but you never know...

Wow that's a really nice mug!! It looks even better than the image that I did up for ours! Now I wonder if I should have their art department make my image instead I'm surprised that your mug could have such a large size imprint as well! Mine is only 2x2" so nothing on it is too big. The hard part was that we wanted our names on it but not too big so that no one would use them after the trip - is that what you had in mind with yours too?

dress too short
echo2_62 replied to midnight24's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
okay thanks good to know!! How do you like living there? I grew up there from when I was 5yrs to about 23yrs old - well split between Burlington and St Catharines anyways. My parents are still there too. The only time I really miss it is during the spring and fall. We just don't get those seasons here in Calgary really and all the smells in the spring and colours in the fall are just memories now I don't know if I'd ever move back there but I sure wish I could visit more! -
I feel so bad that everyone is having such problems with the promopays.ca site and customer service! I haven't had the greatest service from the art department with discountmugs either so maybe it just doesn't matter where we try!! I was trying to figure out my imprint image yesterday and in my attempt to get through to the art dept. I was hung up on three times in a row (once in the middle of a conversation with a girl - she just gave up half way through and it was like she started talking to someone else beside her and forgot she was on the phone with me!!!!) and then I had to call back again later when I was having troubles uploading my image and I was on hold that time for about 15 minutes before someone answered. However unlike you La Romana, my order and payment has already gone through so I kept trying to make sure that I'll get what I want!!

And Tracy I love all of your boudoir outfits Jill Hey Jill welcome to the thread!! Tell us more about how your planning is going! I was probably the one to recommend promopays.ca for the mugs, but ended up ordering from discountmugs.com in the end! There's another thread discussing mugs for us CDN buyers at frustrated-where-find-mugs-canada-54877 which might help you. One of the other girls said that she bought 50mugs I think from discountmugs and her brokerage charges were about $63. I am lucky enough to have a friend in the US who lets me send everything to her and the she passes it along to me For all the places that offer free US shipping, it works out great for me! Hope that helps! Quote: Originally Posted by KimmyG Lets talk legal marriage- are you guys doing it at home or at your destination? If at home, before or after your trip? Either way, we're not inviting any friends or family and *might* even have a DOUBLE legal signing day with the lovely SuzyQ76!! We figured that since we're both going the same route and don't want anyone here to know then using each other as witnesses is just about perfect!! Oh except my niece will be coming as well. She's only 7 and isn't coming to MX with us and is really sad about missing out on being a flower girl - so we're going to do a mock wedding certificate for her to sign as well to give her approval

hee hee don't be embarassed! If you've never bought or worn them how are you supposed to know! And it can't be as embarrassing as when I was dress shopping and my friend with me was the one asking "do you have the 'these' to go in 'here' to make them do 'this' for her?" complete with all the hand gestures of inserting padding for my boobs to give them some cleavage and oomph!
-
jeez michele - stop talking for once! LOL! Kidding!!! Well think about it... you joined BDW about five months before me and I've got just over 700 posts now so that doesn't seem all that awful?! Or maybe its just that I talk a lot too so I'm not the person to compare with hahaha! I'm almost done my OOT bags too! I officially ordered my mugs so once they route through a friend in Florida they'll be ready to add in, and after realizing that putting together a little puzzle booklet for all the bags was going to be too much cost and effort, I've just been buying sudoku books from the dollar store. The trouble with those is they come out in 'editions' much like your Readers Digest would so I have to wait in between purchases for the new ones to come in. I'm trying not to get too many repeats which is ridiculous since there are so many puzzles in each book! But aside from that it'll just be assembling all the goodies the way I want them!! Woohoo!

hehe an fyi... the stick-on kind are meant to stick on to YOU! there are a couple different styles that can help provide lift and cleavage using a little plastic strap that connects the two cutlets to each other, similar to the little band across the front of your regular bras. So walmart might be a bit cheaper but the other stores (any bra store I would guess!) would likely have the best selection. And I say go for the jersey! If he's a huge hockey fan then he'll definitely enjoy it.

Mr. and Mrs. or Mr. and Dr.?
echo2_62 replied to TaniBBurwell's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Hmm I get what loveisintheair means though... her two friends specifically indicated that Dr. was their preferred title so it would easily be appropriate to continue as they indicated. Maybe because I don't have any friends with a doctor title, I have to agree that it does seem a little awkward (whether its for a Mr Dr or a Mrs.Dr) and that the whole point of announcing the new couple is for just that - the Mr and Mrs part of being a couple. When you earned your doctorate, you were introduced as Dr, so on your wedding day you're celebrating becoming a Mrs so I think be introduced that way! Otherwise maybe think of it in terms of introducing "husband and wife"... if you were thinking of that route, you wouldn't necessarily use "husband and doctor" . I know that's a bit of a silly example but just a different perspective. Do you really feel like you need the Mr and Mrs/Dr title anyways? What about "Let me introduce the new couple - (HisName) & (YourName) LastName" and then you wouldn't have to worry about proper titles?? -
tracy - to add to erin's comment of the little cutlet type things, if you have a la senza (or la vie en rose) anywhere near you then you can definitely get them there... or even try The Bay since I'm pretty sure they would have some. The best kind would probably be the stick-on ones since they you wouldn't have to wear a separate bra which just wouldn't work as you said. Another thought for outfits is just to use a cute pj set with a little tank top and boy shorts or something. FI always says that as much as he likes the lingerie, he's quite happy with a little tank top and a pair of sweats! LOL actually last night I was hanging around the house in a fitted cotton shirt with no bra on and he was going a little crazy for it. Here I am thinking that I look like a slob and he's ready to throw me down on the bed! HAaha, sorry for the description but really it shows you how differently guys minds work!!!

Custom Linen Suits $99!
echo2_62 replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Oh no sorry don't think that I'm blaming you AT ALL for the swatches not getting here! Sorry, sorry, sorry! Both Suzy and I feel bad now though that TWO sets of swatches have disappeared from the passing chain because of us You and badrianne were both very kind to have sent them to us and it was also my fault that I didn't think to ask for a tracking number when we requested the second set. I'm just hoping that we can prevent any more missing mail and frustration like me. Another note - for anyone who is thinking of ordering the Irish Linen - check the website for the colours available as they have just changed. I received swatches for the six colours that were standard and when I went to order earlier this week I was told that they don't have most of them anymore, and only the three shown on the website are available now. I ended up having to pick new colours since I didn't want to pay for new swatches to be sent. Apparently they've been having troubles keeping the irish linen in stock - poor availability from wherever they were receiving it from. -
HOLY CRAP LOOK AT ALL THAT SNOW!!! I WANT SOME! And that makes tons of sense about the server being down from the storm - I hadn't considered that in the slightest so thanks for the update. Your veil is very pretty! I really like it with the edging that you've got on it too. Must have been a bonus to be able to try it on with your actual dress and everything too - that's the reason I hadn't bought one initially was that i just didn't like the options available at the same store. I should *hopefully* be getting a call closer to the end of next week about my dress arriving for my first fitting, so I'll see then if they have anything new. I'm undecided about veils though so I'm not stressing if I don't find one I like. Hehehe, and FI told me very bluntly that I'm not allowed having any of the styles that cover my face (which I wouldn't anyways - not my thing) and not a really long one either. He's so cute sometimes, thinking he can decide that for me

Oooh! Two months tomorrow and I'll be on a plane too - heading to MEXICO!!! YAY!

I'm with Suzy about not being able to sign in at all yesterday but back in action now. I'm guessing that the mods were doing an overhaul on the server to try and get things fixed so I won't complain if one day off will make things run more smoothly!! Thanks Tracy for letting me know that the link for my pics is dead... I'll post again tonight from my laptop when I can use photobucket. Mel - how awesome it must feel to be so nearly done all your planning and everything!! I've got one kind of labour intensive DIY project on the go right now and aside from that I don't think I'll be doing too much else. It'll jsut be knocking some of these last big items down. And I *finally* got my mug order placed last night so at least one checked off so far. Yesterday I was out of my office for the day and I go SO much accomplished at home!! It was SUCH a great day and even by the time FI got home from work I was still bouncing around with plenty of energy to spare. I totally wish that I could take off one day mid-week from now until the wedding so that I could get as much done every week - that would be AMAZING! Now to catch up on all the emails from work yesterday though

Well my mug order has officially been placed! It was the the colour, or even the mug, that we'd initially had in mind but all is good. Turns out the one colour that is out of stock won't be in until at least April or May - so definitely NOT within my time frame LOL! After a long, drawn out process we ended up going with discountmugs because they had free US shipping right now and I was lucky to be able to send them to my friend in Florida. Now just to confirm that they can send me an image of my imprinting before they actually start the work!

kerry - if you're in the south, there is a scrapbookers paradise down that way (same store as the one in crowfoot but a bit bigger location if I remember correctly) so you can try that one instead of heading across town to the north store South Calgary Macleod Plaza #20, 9250 Macleod Trail S. 403-253-4799 M-F 10:00 - 9:00 Sat 10.00 - 5:00 MayanLily - if you know a good electrician who does side jobs then I'd love the recommendation! We need to get a couple wiring issues checked out in our basement pretty soon here... thanks!

Oh YAY! You were able to see the pictures?!?! I was having problems opening them myself but I wasn't sure if that's because they're already loaded on to my computer or something. I was so excited when my friend sent me the pictures this morning because they were perfect! And no we totally don't get our tax stuff before Christmas - I wish!! I think our stuff should be out in the next few weeks as other investment-type slips have started to trickle in lately. I'm hoping that since we file online that I'll be able to get them submitted and get my return before the wedding for a little extra spending money Or nevermind that, if it's enough to pay everything from the wedding off then I'll be happy!!
-
Okay first - how in the world do you have taxes done already!?!?! I don't even have all the documents I need from work! WOW! Second - maybe you could ask her for a "show of good faith" gesture. Mention that you understand she has other things on the go but if she could appease your bridal anxiety by at least purchasing her dress you would feel a whole lot better about giving her more time regarding her flights? Otherwise could you suggest that you have deadlines with the resort and if she's not booked then you can't count her in? It might not be the full truth but might help her realize these are necessarily deadlines that come from you but someone else?? i don't blame you at all for being frustrated by this - I think we'd all feel the same way too! We're here if you need to vent some more!
