Hmmm, is it me or does da.schmoopies have a review to post!!!! =) I want to hear about your wedding!! (Someone let me know if she has because I can't find it!!)

I remembered struggling to find pictures. The best I could do was google "Flickr Humu Wailea" and found a few under images. But Flickr is such a goldmine if people happen to have photos. Here, this one gives a few views: Maui 2008 Resort - a set on Flickr

Good for you guys! I'm very excited to hear that you have plans in place now! It's always such a hard step to commit to because there's so many wonderful options. Congrats!

Hey Susan! I was tossing up between Humuhumu and Spago too. Humuhumu just has a beautiful ambience, but I changed my mind for a few reasons. Lemme dig up the emails... 1) What wedding numbers can you accommodate? WE CAN DO PARTIES ON UP TO 60 OR SO. BUT IT WOULD BE IN SEPARATE SECTIONS. 2) Do you have photos of the site itself? Especially the interior? THERE ARE PHOTOS ON OUR WEBSITE Maui Hotels - Grand Wailea Resort- Maui Resorts, Reservations, Vacations, Getaways 3) What time does the restaurant have to close? WELL OUR LAST SEATING IS AT 8:30. SO DEPENDING ON OUR LAST RESERVATION TIME. 4) Can it accommodate AV equipment (projector and screen) + dance floor? YES WE MOST CERTAINLY CAN. BUT FOR THOSE ITEMS TO BE UTILIZED THAT EVENING YOU WOULD NEED TO BUYOUT THE RESTAURANT. I HAVE ATTACHED OUR BUYOUT INFORMATION PAGE FOR YOU TO TAKE A LOOK AT. 5) How far in advance do I need to book? I WOULD BOOK IT AS SOON AS YOU KNOW SO THE DATE WILL BE SAVED. "We can accommodate a party of your size for drinks and dinner. But unfortunately not with the AV equipment and the slide show etc. The restaurant still will be open to the public and we cannot have all of that going on during our normal dinner service. Would you be interested in possibly having your dinner somewhere on property other than the restaurant? If so than you may contact our catering dept. If you decide to change your mind about the AV equipment and slide show definitely let me know and I would be more than happy to assist you with your dinner at the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a restaurant." Hope that helps you!

Yay a Maui bride! Congrats! =)

Getting married in Maui. The budget, as I understand, is steeper than it is at other islands, but easily cheaper than anything I can throw back home! Pricewise for the guests, if they view it as a vacation and a chance to enjoy Hawaii, it's entirely reasonable. You maybe want to throw an extra group event since people are flying all the way in to see you get married!

Making Travel Arrangements Before or After the Holidays?
Huey replied to NewYorkie's topic in Honeymoon Forum
I agree - I know sending out during the Xmas season will be stressful, but what's the alternative? Sending AFTER Xmas...and knowing full well that budgets are often a bit tight after the holiday season. It might be even more stressful and the guests might wish that you told them a bit sooner! That's my two cents. =) Good luck! -

I bet you opened this thinking I was going to have a picture of my cake. No such luck. I was hoping to solicit ideas about flavours and ingredients... My coordinator suggested something called "Vanilla Whip Cream Custard with a layer of Logsdon Lilikoi (passionfruit) with a white sponge cake". It sounds DELISH! But I have no idea what that would taste like... it sounds a little tart. What do you guys think? What kinds of cake are you having? Will they melt if I cut mine in the outdoor ceremony? Thanks for reading... Huey

I do think they are expensive!!!! There is a 20% coordination charge on top of everything they organize for you, but Barb is nice enough to tell me when she doesn't think her help is worthwhile in certain things (like booking dinner with a restaurant or booking a group tour). She'll just put me in touch with the right people and that saves the coordination cost! When I see the final product in 8 months...I'll let you know!! =)
