  1. It's officially less than a month until we leave! I can't believe how fast it's coming! I had my 2nd fitting last week which turned out to be my final fitting since my dress fit beautifully! I was going to have my bridesmaid take it to her house for me but when I was dropping her off I decided I couldn't part with it and took it home instead! Since the FI wasn't home, I put it on again and wondered around the house for awhile. hahaha I feel like I should have more to do but at this point I'm just willing to roll with it. I hope I won't live to regret it but we're not concerned at all with the structure of the ceremony. We're just going to show up and see what happens! Same with centerpieces and decor stuff. Just going to go with whatever they decide to put out! Things I'd still like to do: - Pre-departure mailout - Seating arrangement - Frames for table numbers - Guest book - Shop for new bathing suits and vacation clothes - Welcome letter (our "wedding week survival kits" are done and our mugs are on the way! We're sending them all down with my mom who is going before us so they can be put in everyone's room before they arrive) Hmmm...what else...oh yeah, get legally married before we go! And showers and a stagette! I've decided I'm really going to enjoy these next few weeks of pre-wedding excitement and not let myself get lost in the details!
  2. Yikes! I have no idea either but I didn't think it was that much! PS: Lovely spring storm we're having...UGH...30 more days!
  3. The weekend was great but could have been longer! Congrats on the new house Cara! Nothing like sleeping in your own bed in your own house for the first time! We moved into our place in December and I still can't believe it's ours! I just started looking into the legal stuff this weekend since we're planning on getting married here before we leave. We actually went to the registry in Country Hills on Saturday to get our marraige license and it was closed! This website had lots of useful info: Government of Alberta - Programs and Services - Getting Married Maybe we should looking into hiring a commissioner and a bunch of us have a big group legal day and split the cost! haha

The groom came down the aisle and said "we ask that you all hum a song for Julie as she comes down the aisle. I believe you all know it. It goes dum dum da dum". It was a fantastic moment and totally memorable!
  5. Hey BeachBride! Welcome to the thread! Our whole group is coming from Calgary so we got off easy in that aspect. Finding a date was an interesting process...so many factors to consider! Like pamphilia we bounced a few dates off of our VIPs to find something that worked. Some are in school and our best man (FI's bro) finishes his hockey season in April, so May was the best choice for us. We narrowed down resort by checking Expedia for our dates so we could see what would fall in our price range. Then we worked with our TA to get group quotes. She recommended Air Canada Vacations since they are the least likely to cancel or reschedule flights (so far so good!). We wanted to maximize the chance of getting amazing weather so anything in hurricane season was out of the question. And although it's unlikely, if you do book during hurricane season, prepare yourself for the possibility of unpleasant weather.

Doesn't make me too confident when they aren't keeping track of my responses!
  7. I finally gave in and ordered from Discountmugs since we were running out of time and options! We ordered 50 mugs for $244. I've seen mixed reviews so I'm basically keeping my fingers crossed until they get here! I'll let you all know how it goes!
  8. So glad that you had success with discountmugs. They look great! I just ordered mine yesterday with my fingers croseed and hoping that it all works out! Can I ask how much duty was? I'd like to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks!
  9. Oh man, all these gorgeous dresses make me second guess mine!! I mean, I LOVE my dress but there are so many other amazing ones on this thread. I so want to go try on more, just for fun, but I'm terrified that I'll find something even better than the one I have! I have my 2nd dress fitting next week so hopefully I'll fall in love with it all over again!

  11. We just picked our bands out last week. My E ring was custom made so I had to leave it behind so he could match my band to it! I feel naked! I haven't taken it off in 9 months! I'll make sure I add pics when I get them back. Now I'm going to have to google OPI manicures here...that sounds like what I'm looking for! I want nice nails but I'm not sure if I want to commit to "real" fake ones (I'm such a fab-nail-rookie I don't even know what they're called!). Hmmm...so here's what on my current wedding "to do" list: - finish OOT bags this weekend - hopefully finish my vistaprint brochures - 2nd (and hopefully final!) dress fitting next Thursday So I don't know if anyone else has noticed but next week is APRIL which means that most of us will be starting our 1 month count down VERY soon!!!
  12. Congrats Kerri and thanks for the info! I can't WAIT for my 3 weeks off! Only 7 weeks to go!
  13. Yay! I GBP Coba review!! So glad you had an amazing time Sunnyee. I haven't been there myself but I've heard nothing but good things so I'm completely confident that everything will work out wonderfully. Congrats!!

All of our guests are in Calgary so we're going to either hand deliver our OOT bags or have a pre-mexico get-together and hand them out then. I definitely don't want to bring them with me!
  15. I struggled with this when we were designing our invites. I'm not the rhyming type and we were sending out our AHR invites before we were officially married. This is what we came up with: We are happy to announce that we will be married on *date* in a private ceremony in the Riviera Maya surrounded by the sun, the sand and the sea We invite you to join us for a celebration when we return as husband and wife (followed by date, location, time, RSVP, etc) Hope this helps!
  16. I randomly came across this thread and thought I'd revive it! I bought my girls personalized lounge chair towels from Etsy: They fold up into a tote bag: And I got a different color for each: I also paid for their dresses, necklaces and they're also getting an OOT bag. I have to stop spoiling them!
  17. Pocket folds will be expensive unless you order them online and DIY (not my thing). I went with a local vendor. Here's my invite thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...tations-56075/ I absolutely love how they turned out and have gotten many compliments on them (not that anyone would actually say "hey, your invites are ugly" but you know what I mean!)
  18. This thread also serves as a glowing review for your TA! Who did you use?
  19. It might have something to do with the availability of the restaurants. Maybe the the Tulum ones are already booked that day or they think you're group size is better suited for these ones?
  20. Glad to hear good things about Portofino! That's the one we chose too. Did anyone get a chance to do a rehearsal before the actual day?
  21. I had a fun siggy pic but it's too big and I can't figure out how to make it smaller! Will re-post once I do!
  22. I ordered lounge chair towels as bridesmaid gifts from etsy! They turned out great and were an even better price! Maddie's Attic by MaddiesAttic on Etsy
  23. This pretty much summarizes all the threads in the "just venting" forum. Love it!
