I feel so far behind in planning! I feel like I'm at the mercy of my travel agent to get me pricing before I can pick a resort or a date! I can't wait to go dress shopping!! Thats something I have a little more control over!!
  2. I'm so happy to hear that some of you have decided not to wear a wedding band WITH your e-ring. My e-ring also has 3-sided pave and people always assume that I am planning on getting a custom wedding band to wear with it, and I get some strange looks when I say I don't want a wedding band. I've already decided that I'd rather not cover up the side diamonds so I plan on using my e-ring as my wedding ring as well. I def like the suggestion of just getting a plain band for the gym, gardening and taking the dog out!! I think I will do that....I'm constantly envisioning my ring flying through the air into the ocean as I throw a stick into the water for my dog!! haha

I almost have our STD's finished I've been assembling them all week, it only took 2 months to design..eek! So I can't wait to get them in the mail hopefully by tomorrow. Both the Royal and DT are beautiful resorts! DT is my number one pick at this point... I really love how it seems more secluded in comparison to some other places. I'm trying to keeping an open mind and consider all resorts right now, at least until I get some quotes back from my travel agent! My goal is to keep it as far under $2000/person as possible! I hope my STDs don't take that long!! I was hoping to have mine out by mid-June...and I only just started thinking about them today!
  4. Hi Everyone! I'm Heather...my fiance is Max. We've decided on May 2011...so far we've met with a few travel agents and we're trying to nail down a resort right now. We had originally wanted the Royal PDC...right now our favorite is Dreams Tulum...but now we are thinking we may need to choose a more affordable resort for our guests. I'm dedicating today to learning how to use vistaprint and starting our save the dates...wish me luck!
  5. Its a beautiful dress! I love how low it goes and really shows off your back! You look great in it!

So let me know if you want those to. 5pm is a good time, especially in November because it starts to get dark so people start to clear out. You should be fine at that time. To be honest in my opinion the Gran Porto has the nicest beach location and it is also the largest. Unfortunetly we were told if we do the reception at the Gran we have to do the ceremony there to. As far as the three beaches at the Royal, The first beach is the largest and never gets washed away if a hurricane comes because it is somewhat protected by the pier. The down side though it is the main entrance to the beach which is public so that is where people are entering and exiting the beach. The second beach is the one we chose. It still has a chance to get washed away but it is not by the main entrance. It is however at the entrance to the pool of the Royal but Zulma assured us for our reception at 6pm that guests would not use this entrance. Plus we are having such a big wedding that the majority of the beach will be cleared out for our tables, dance floor and the lounge area. The last beach is right in front of the Gazebo and actually happens to be my favorite. However this one has the most chance of being washed away. When we went Zulma told us there was barely any beach just two days ago there and than suddenly it came back. So it is more of a gamble at this spot. However it has the least amount of people and when the beach is there is it a beautiful spot. Sorry I don't know if this was helpful or more confusing lol whichever spot you pick though I can gurantee you the do a beautiful job with the setup Thank you so much for your advice....but I feel like I am even more torn now on what spot to choose!! hehe Do you think there is any way they would have a wedding at the gazebo and on the beach in front on the gazebo at the same time?? I am hoping they would not. In that case, I think I may choose the beach in front of the gazebo... and if the beach disappears, I can just have it at the gazebo instead. Or my option #2, which my mom really wants to me to do, is have the entire wedding at the Gran Porto Real, since that is where most of my guests will be staying. If the beach there really is bigger and nicer like you said, then that could be a good option too!?! Aghh...I'm not getting married until 2011... I think I may have to make a site visit manditory, even if it means I have to go alone! hehe PS I am going to e-mail you for the menu options!! I really appreciate it!!
  7. Jesmcan... thanks for your review and sharing all your pictures!!! The food looks delicious... did they mention anything about special menus for vegetarians and allergies Did they have any entrees that weren't mainly beef?? Also... We are 100% set on having our ceremony on the beach.... now I am terrified of having speedo wearing and topless onlookers during the ceremony!! We're hoping for a 5pm time... so hopefully the beach won't be as packed then. What beach would you recommend for the beach ceremony?? I'm open to the ceremony being at the royal or gran porto... I just want it to be the nicest beach location. Thanks!!
  8. Tracey... what an awesome wedding...looks like you guys had a blast!!! Your pictures are amazing, and i love the dress!! Can't wait to see your review!!
  9. aww....how special!! I hope you plan on keeping that bottle of wine! Kelowna wineries are beautiful... I go to the Okanagan every summer as well! Love it! Happy Planning!

What happened?? At least you are from an area where you can count on warm sunny weather during the summer! I have always wanted an outdoor wedding, and our weather in Vancouver, even during the summer can be unpredictable! Which is why I am so set on a destination wedding!
  11. I'm a 2011 bride! Playa del Carmen Mexico!! We still haven't picked a date because FI's work schedule is so up in the air right now. I'm hoping for April or May 2011... and praying he won't need to be out of town during those months! I'm glad I'll have so much time to plan everything.... however it is frustrating to know that wedding package prices will probably be higher than they are listed now, and there is no way to know how much travel costs and hotel packages will be so far in advance!
  12. Shannon + olsontco - thanks... that really helps!! I'll book the gazebo and then decide whether to use to gazebo or the beach when I get there. Has anyone seen a reception set up at the gazebo?? I imagine that would be a really pretty option too!
  13. Jennie - thanks so much for posting that review!! <3 However, i now feel really nervous about having my ceremony on the beach...i wish i could book both the beach in front of the gazebo and the gazebo and just choose when i get there! haha I'm starting to feel that maybe a site visit is necessary!!
  14. I love them both.... I think dress #2, the Jovi looks best on you! They are both beautiful dresses tho, so which ever you choose will be a great decision!
  15. Def #2! I would love to see a back view of that dress... it is gorgeous!
  16. Congrats... welcome.. and happy planning!!
  17. I've been playing around with the a la carte options on the real website all morning..hehe definitely having a lazy morning! I see that there is one option for a beach wedding at the Royal (infront of pelicanos) and there are two options for a beach wedding at the Gran Porto (central and north beach). Can someone who has done a site visit let me know the pros and cons of each place... especially which one would provide the most privacy!! Also...how many of you are choosing a beach wedding. It seems that most of the Royal brides around here chose the gazebo. I think the gazebo is beautiful... we both just have our hearts set on a barefoot wedding in the sand! I have a questions about the huppa for the beach...I see that you can pay $500 for huppa with 3 flower medallions... but what if i just want the huppa with some flowing white tulle... is that free?
  18. Welcome...happy planning! There are tons of great photographers you can looking up in the vendors forum. My fav is Elizabeth Medina!
