If they are all similar in price then write a list of everything you want (ex. free wedding packing, beach ceremony vs gazebo, outside photography, private reception, unlimited a la cartes etc..) Read up on the reviews in this forum from each of the resorts and look at wedding pics from them!

This dress is ivory, but I have ordered diamond white. I'm also getting the neckline modified to be a sweetheart. (Oh, and disregard the feathery flower at the top - it's not part of the dress, we were just playing around with the idea of adding a small flower up there and a one strap made of the same fabric as the bottom. I still might do this; I'd love to add at least one flower detail somewhere!) What do you girls think? Beautiful dress!! It looks great on you!! What type of fabric is it? I love how flowy (is that a word?) and light it looks while still being a full dress! -

We had been ring shopping a year before he proposed and we both liked the asscher cut best! Rachel - can you repost a picture of your e-ring.. I'd love to see it and this thread has gotten huge! -

My e-ring.... (first time posting pics... bare with me) Its a 1.01ct asscher cut diamond in a 0.80ct setting. FI had the diamond bezel set into the setting. He picked it all on his own.. and I couldn't be happier. I honestly think he picked a more perfect ring for me than I would have picked for myself! -

Carly, your new ring is beautiful!! It kind of makes losing your first ring a fair trade off!! hehe Did you have insurance on your ring?? -
Help! I have a cold sore a week before.
pineapplebride replied to *kellis*'s topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I get cold sores occasionally.. they are a huge pain in the ass! I'm a nurse and I work with immunocompromised children so if I get a cold sore I need to be off sick until it is gone. Heres the best way to get rid of them quickly! Always have a course of valcylovir, also called Valtrex at home with you (your doctor shouldn't have a problem prescribing this) as soon as you feel the signs of getting a cold sore, tinglying, warmth all that jazz take 2grams of valcyclovir, then 12 hours later take another 2 grams. If you take the first dose of valcyclovir soon enough it can actually prevent the cold sore from blistering... at very least it will speed up the recovery! I also buy L-lysine... it is a herbal remedy that helps with cold sores. It is actually more for prevention, I'll be taking it regularly for about 2 weeks before my wedding to make sure a cold sore doesn't pop up!I For topical management you can get acyclovir ointment, or abreva... I'm really not sure what actually works better. I hope your cold sore cleared up in time!!! Or at least wasn't contagious still for that first kiss!! hehe -

Thanks for your responses! I am going to see my TA today and have her clarify for me! I didn't realize that you only need 10 people to hold the rate, but that totally makes sense because we need 10 people to get the group rate! I think I will do the same thing and pay 10 deposits as well.... we are expecting 20-30 people to come, so I def won't be out any money if I do that!! Thanks for your help blondy and bikegirl!! One more question... what tour groups are you all using? I've received quotes from transat, sunquest and signature/sunwing. I really don't know what company would be best as I have never traveled with any of them.... I typically am not an all-inclusive type traveler. Do you think it is safe just to go with the best quote?
-
Hi guys My TA has found us great rates for our May 2011 wedding trip with an Early Booking Bonus... however she has told me that the tour company will only hold the quote for 30 days... therefore in order for our guests to get this rate they need to put down a $150 deposit by June 30th. She said that if prices drop, we can adjust the rate once Has anyone else been required to put down deposits to hold the quote?? I feel like I need to frantically send out STD's to inform my guests! Also... what about guests who still dont know for sure if they will be able to come? I feel like they are being forced to make a huge decision very rushed!
-
I hope we are! Our package is for May 7-14th.... but M and I were thinking of heading there a couple days before the rest of the group so we can get the planning out of the way!

We reserved a resort and date!! Our TA got us an amazing quote for Dreams Tulum...!! We'll be getting married May 10, 2011 @ 3:30 at Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa!! Yayers I'm so excited and relieved to have this booked!! Now for the Save the Dates.....

If you need more info, please let me know, have spent 4 weeks there in the last 24 months... I did receive the wedding package from GP, it was actually an e-mail from ariadna though. It didn't have any information about private receptions or menu choices in it though. If you have any of that info I'd love to see it! I'm so glad you love GP so much... it really helps make my decision easier! You'll be a great resource for some of us ladies!!!

Can someone please tell me the cost of a private ceremony, and if anyone has any pictures to share I would love to see them!! Thanks!! Well I just read through most of this thread (its way past my bedtime now!!) and i've answered most of my questions myself. I haven't been able to find the menu options for the private reception though.... could someone point me in the right direction?! Thanks!

As far as the resort I don't have pricing for air as that has not come out yet, i just went off pricing for this year as I figured it wouldn't be going up too much in a year from now. And as much as i want it to be affordable for my guests I want to love the resort as it's my wedding! Whoever cant come fine, whoever can great! I'm not letting anyone ruin my day! Hope you find your resort soon!! And dress shopping can be fun! It wasn't so much for me because i felt i had such a hard time finding my dress! And i didn't actually buy my dress at a store, I bought it from someone who purchased it back in Sept and then changed her mind about it. I found it on another forum. So GOOD LUCK!!! I'm sure you'll find the perfect one! I like your attitude... whoever can come will come and thats fine! I can't help feeling like I'm asking too much from friends and family if I pick an expensive resort though. I just got some pricing from my TA. Dreams Tulum will be about $1950/person for a week. Grand Palladium will be about $1500/person for a week. DT was my initial choice... but I can't help think that it will be almost $1000 more expensive per couple. Its so hard to choose when every resort looks so beautiful. A trip to mexico to do site visits would solve all my problems right now! hehhe if only money weren't an issue!

Maybe it wont touch Mexico and will just head up toward the east. Anyone else thinking about this?? I've been thinking about the oil spill a lot as well.. i'm an avid scuba diver and the amount of damage it is doing makes me literally feel sick to the stomach. I really hope it doesn't wash up on the beaches and shores... i think the riviera maya area will be okay but honestly who know...?!?
