Your daughter is adorable...beautiful dresses!
  2. Stunning dress and awesome deal!! I love love love the low back!!! I'd also leave the bling off! Congrats on finding the one!!
  3. Sorry this is happening! Totally crappy situation! Have you looked at La Zebra... it is also a small boutique hotel in Tulum!
  4. Beautiful pics!! Looks like a dream wedding!!! Loved your hair too - I may have to keep a pic as an inspiration!!
  5. Excellent review!! I'll def be checking back here when we start to choose our excursions!!

So my question is this is costing about $114 pp and is part of my TA's package...is this really necessary? I have been meaning to find out about trip insurance with my TA - thanks for reminding me! I believe our TA is offering us some sort of "wedding insurance", where if by any chance the bride and groom cancel their trip (h1n1, hurricane..etc..), all guests get a full refund as well. I will find out the cost of that and let you know. As far as medical coverage I get mine on a yearly basis through my extended health at work. I do think this is very important and would recommend getting it. I have heard of people requiring hospitalization in a foreign country (even the US for us Canadians) and getting a ridiculous bill at the end of it all.
  7. Nicola that is awesome news!!! Tris.. .your dress is beautiful! It looks perfect for a destination wedding! Light and beachy! I FINALLY got my save the dates out this week! Ugh! What a grind. I made a thread for them http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ss-stds-61004/

The boarding pass template is Aylee's. Aylee’s Boarding Pass Template | i do it yourself? Ya, the boarding pass really isn't very complicated at all! Designing it is the fun part! I am going to try the passports for my invites though! Here are the dingbat fonts I used. sc by the sea font for my starfish, and wm trees font for the palm tree! Let me know if you want anymore info!!
  9. They all look great... and perfect for a destination wedding. I think you look great in a halter! I like #2 best.... (but maybe only because it fits better than #3!)
  10. Our boarding pass save the dates are finally finished and in the mail!!! To be honest, these were much more difficult than I had originally thought they would be! Well, I shouldn't say difficult because it was more just annoying bumps in the road because neither FI or I are super crafty or DIY people. Here are some of the annoyances we ran into.. maybe they can help some of you out! 1. we had originally bought pearlescent cardstock for the actual boarding passes, however we had the hardest time getting a printer to work well with the cardstock. In the end we returned the pearlescent cardstock and just used plain white 110lb cardstock (saved us a lot of money too!) 2. Cutting the boarding passes out... it wasn't difficult, just time consuming! FI was much more patient with this than me! He did all the straight cutting and I did all the corner punches. We assembly-lined it over a couple nights...good team work! 3. Our printer died in the middle of printing our envelopes. Not the boarding passes fault, just annoying! haha FI thinks the new printer should be included in the total cost of these boarding passes... however I refuse!! Here is the end result. we tucked our TA's business card under the raffia we had originally planned on buying pearlescent fushia envelopes. I didn't want to spend the $0.30/per envelope, or whatever it was. We ended up using cheap envelopes that FI gets from work and personalizing them. Sorry about the ugly black lines through the addresses! I ended up making my own little jacket template. I traced this template on the cardstock, cut it out and taped the sides together with double sided sticky tape. Since I only used 2/3 of the cardstock I saved the other 1/3 and I'll probably use it for tags or something. here are the tools we used. I'll try to add up the total cost for you as well. We made 35 save the dates. White cardstock = 250 for $20.00. We used ~25 pages, so ~ $2 Green pearlescent cardstock = $0.68/page = $23.80 Raffia = $4.80 Corner rounder = $20 Envelopes = free Paper slicer = free (borrowed from my sister) Double sided sticky tape = free (stolen/borrowed from my dads workshop) Total = $50.60/35 STDS so.. $1.44/STD.... I'm pretty happy with that!
  11. Welcome!! Dreams Tulum is our resort too!! Congrats!

Are you thinking of bringing one with you, choosing one from the resort, or someone else in Mexico? I can think of a few other names if Andrew isn't your style. The $5000 is based on the cost of bringing a local photographer we like to Mexico with us, which is our plan B. Originally we had dreamed of having Elizabeth Medina or Nathaniel Thompson, however they are both over the budget for the amount of coverage we want. If we can find a photographer we love for under $5000 we would be ecstatic!! I'm going to check out your photos tonight!! Thx!

  14. Thanks for such a detailed review!!! Looks like it was an awesome wedding!!! Bummer about only being allowed 1 entre choice... I was totally banking on having two as well... since we have so many different diets and food allergies in our group!!!
  15. I put price information on our Save the Dates... I wanted to give as much information as possible about travel details. I won't be including it in the invite though, because hopefully most people will have already booked by the time invites come out!

I submitted 3 different resorts to get pricing and DT was the cheapest of the 3 (and by far the nicest!). I was ecstatic! I also thought DT would be out of our price range and was shocked when I got the quotes back from our TA! I'm hoping our prices will drop a little bit before next May and we'll end up with a quote a little closer to yours! Quote: Originally Posted by BrideBarbie I just returned from my week in paradise! You have all chosen an amazing place to get married! Also we hired an outside photographer, Ivan Luckie, who was great and used the resort photog Rueben since it came with the package for a group photo session on the beach and we were more than impressed with the outcome. Can't wait to share my review coming up! Congrats and welcome back!! I can't wait to see your pics and read your review!!
  17. I love this thread!! And SO admire those people with budgets under $10,000... i am such a frugal (cheap!!) person in everyday life that I am really needing to try and relax and breathe deep when I think about how expensive this wedding will be! Still... i honestly believe a destination wedding will be cheaper than a formal wedding at home! We're just at the beginning stages of planning our wedding for next May. We originally wanted to spend $10,000.... however after looking into it I think $15,000 is more realistic. As long as we are under $20,000 I will be happy!! This is the budget we are hoping to stick to. Travel (air, 7nights accomodation, transfers, insurance) =$3800 Ceremony + Cocktail hour + Reception = $4000 Photographer = $5000 Videographer = $500 DJ = $600 Favors & OOT & guest gifts = $750 Stationary, Invites, STD, menus (mostly all DIY) = $200 Dress & accessories = $2000 Suit & accessories = $150 Rings = $150 (only for FI, my engagement ring will be my wedding band!) Hair, Makeup, manicure, pedicure = $200 Miscellaneous (cake topper, linens, chair sashes, luminaries, lanterns) = $300 The main thing that would put us over budget is if more people end up RSVPing than we are expecting. This also doesn't include our honeymoon... or at home reception (I think my parents will be paying for this as it is mostly for them!). I would also really like to do a day-trip for our guests, so we'll see how that fits into the budget... eeek! How is everyone finding such affordable photographers?? It is such a huge part of my budget... it boggles my mind!
  18. I love that dress! A seamstress can alter the top and make it more of a sweatheart neckline. It is a pretty easy and common alteration from what I've heard!

I found 3 dresses that I love... so I am going to take my girlfriends out with me and help me narrow it down! I'll keep you posted on which one I choose!
  21. Rosieposie - would you mind telling me who the photographer you booked for your wedding is again, I wanted to check out their work.... i but completely forget the name! hehe thanks!
  22. I love the first one! It suits a destination wedding better, and it is also much sleeker so would probably look better on a taller frame! Come back and tell us what one you end up choosing!
  23. Hi ladies!! I am totally getting my butt kicked by seasonal allergies this time of year!! I've turned into a total snot factory...constant sneezing....puffy eyes.... itchy nose and eyes... UGH! I think it is exceptionally bad this year! Who else gets seasonal allergies and what helps?? I've been neti potting for years to help clear my sinuses, and I've been using Reactine. However, I am wondering if I should see about getting prescription allergy medication?!?
