  1. FI and I are huge scuba enthusiasts!! Diving is something we have always done together! We love to travel, and scuba diving is an amazing way to see new countries. Its also an awesome way to meet people when you are traveling! Unfortunately I can't offer you any advice on diving around French Polynesia...as we've never been there and it isn't really on our list of places to go. I haven't heard much about diving in Jamaica or the Bahamas either. I'm sure you'll have a great experience there though! We have been diving in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Belize, Australia (I'm actually heading to Cairns in less than a week for a great barrier reef trip!) and Vancouver, Canada, where we live (however as amazing as the diving is here in Vancouver I am not a huge fan of cold water diving!). We're getting married in Mexico, and we'll be doing our honeymoon in Cozumel and look forward to diving the reefs and cenotes around there! Red Sea in Egypt and Palau in Micronesia are on our bucket list...sucks that all the best dive sites are the furthest away from North America! Oh I've also heard that Hawaii during humpback whale season is an amazing experience... and Hawaii is a little closer!!
  2. I am obsessed with Benefits lipstains. They have a red one and a pink one... both can be darker or lighter depending on how much you put on, and you can put gloss over top of them once they dry. They can also be used for cheek stain, but I have only used them on my lips. You can get it at Shoppers or Sephora!
  3. Did anyone notice they have a new color in the linen suits. Tropical Beige Linen.... I dont remember seeing that swatch before. Has anyone ordered this color, or does anyone have a swatch of it they could take a picture of? Thanks!
  4. Thank you Rose!! I'm worried about how I am going to keep it a secret too. I would be okay with just telling our parents and siblings about our "legal" wedding date and have them there as our witnesses. Only problem is there is no way FIs parents or brother will be able to come visit us prior to the wedding. I'd feel bad only having my family there and not his. We are thinking of just asking two friends to be our witnesses.... but if my mom found out I think she would be really upset!! I think having a pre-wedding AHR is a great idea! But I totally understand what you mean about it taking away from your Mexico wedding! If I were more organized I would love to have a pre-wedding reception. Kind of like a way for people who can't come to wish you well and a farewell party in one! I keep worrying that people will feel ripped off if they know that our Mexico wedding is symbolic and not legal. Even though I'm sure most people would understand when you tell them about all the hoops you have to jump through, and extra costs! My biggest fear about getting married legally in Mexico is the stories about people having to wait 6-8 months just to get their wedding certificate! Yikes! Hi welcome! I'm also getting married on May 10, 2011 in Tulum.... different resort though, I'm getting married at Dreams Tulum!
  5. Thanks for updating the list Veronica!! There are tons of us!!!
  6. Are you getting Leslie to do your engagement photos?? We still haven't had ours done yet either. I was hoping to get them done this summer but time just got away from us.. I cannot believe it is already October!! Leslie is flying to Mexico for our wedding on the 8th... so the day after your at home reception!! I'm obsessed with her blog.. i swear her photography gets better and better with every wedding she shoots! I'll look into PR as well! I think Blaine would probably be about the same driving distance for me and would give me a good excuse to do some shopping!! The stuff I want to order online is chair sashes, lanterns, tulle... all the decoration type things! However, if these $5 mail boxes actually work out I could def see myself using it for A LOT of other things as well!! Quick question for you ladies... I remember us talking about a minister who will do legal ceremonies in her backyard. Could you give me her contact. We've decided to get married legally at home first and do the symbolic ceremony in Mexico. To get legally married in Canada do we need witnesses?.... I want to keep it as secret as possible!
  7. Awesome...so lucky that you have family in Cali! There is so much stuff that I want to order online, but the shipping to Canada is ridiculous! Someone told me about these $5/year PO box rentals in Blaine. I think I am going to look into it! It could save me a lot of money! I'm sorry I missed the last meet up, glad you guys had fun!! Sept was just too busy for me! I'll try to make the next one though! I booked Leslie from Sakura for our photograghy!! SO excited about it.. her photos are amazing! We still need engagement pics so I think I'll ask her! My only real wedding stress right now is whether or not to have bridesmaids/groomsmen. Originally we weren't going to have any at all.. keep it super low key. Then we decided we wanted to ask only our siblings. Now we are thinking we don't want our friends to feel left out. I feel like I either need to have none, or 7 bridesmaids. Having 7 would be a huge extra expense... and also it would be kinda funny to have so many people standing up with us for such a small wedding (only 30-40 people).. I'm torn! How is your planning going??
  8. Hey Rose I love that dress... and color! Did you order them locally, or did you go over the boarder to find a better deal??
  9. We're doing fuschia and orange as well as a bit of lime green! I love all these inspiration pics!!! Thanks!
  10. Omg all these flowers are gorgeous! I am going to have to contract this florist too!! I had no clue it was even possible to get flower centerpieces for so cheap! I was planning on bringing down some stuff for centerpieces to save money.
  11. I sent my STD's out in June... I wanted to have them out a year in advance but they ended up taking me longer than I thought. June still worked fine because our group rate was held until Sept 8th so people had a lot of time to put down deposits. Â I think I'll send invites out in Jan with RSVPs. When are you ladies asking people to RSVP by? Does 2 months in advance seem a little early??
  12. Thanks! I will def do the same thing... I just don't want them to turn off the music at 9:30 and tell us we all have to leave. That would be a huge downer on the night! Â I wonder if desires nightclub is a good option for after the wedding reception is over?!?
  13. Hey veronica!! Â I am also really upset that DT won't let me exchange the photography for the videography in the Dreams of Love package. It just doesn't make sense since both services are the same price! Â How much is it to extend the private reception? Â Also, I just got an email from Landy today and she mentioned that the private reception is now $800.. I just had to laugh! I have e-mails from them saying it is $750 and I'm sure glad I saved them! Â
  14. We are looking for a DJ right now as well. Both DJ Dorremix and DJ Mannia quoted me $900. I just contacted DJ Bijan...his price definitely is more appealing!! Had anyone heard any good reviews from him? Â We definitely need to find a way to keep our costs down. So far we already have 10 more people booked than we budgeted for... and our wedding is still 8 months away!! eeek Â
  15. Skadow - This dress has always caught my eye! I love the simplicity of it!!
  16. Welcome!! You'll find tons of suggestions and resorts to choose from around here!!
  17. Congrats and Welcome!! You'll hear good and bad reviews about every place you consider. You just have to choose the resort that suits you best!!
  18. Thank you!! Its funny... i never thought I would like the ruffles... but i LOVE them... and i never in a million years thought I would choose a dress with straps!! goes to show that you really do need to try on everything!! Â I'm a little supersticious about showing pics of me in the dress.... I think FI lurks the forum when he has down time at work and I dont want him to see!!!
  19. Â Thanks for the suggestion!! I looked at Nates photos and they are brilliant! You must be SO happy with your wedding photos!!! Â I'm sorry I didn't see you post until today! I've been deglecting this forum (and wedding planning for that matter) trying to soak up as much of the sunshine as possible!! Sharing the travel costs of a photog would have been an awesome plan!! Did you end up booking Nate?? Â FI and I found an awesome local photographer we are going to take with us to Mexico. Originally I was afraid her prices would be way out of our budget, but she gave us a few little discounts here and there and is going to pay 50% of the travel costs herself!! We are very excited! Â Â As for paying for the wedding. We are going to put everything on VISA... so we can rack up the avion points.... and then pay it off every month. We have vowed to not go $0.01 in debt for this wedding!!
  20. Its been such a long time since I've been on here...I didn't even recognize the forum!! Trying to spend as little time as possible indoors on the computer during the summer time.... and my wedding planning has dipped to all time lows. Â I just put a deposit on my wedding dress!! I think it has re-inspired and motivated me with the wedding planning!! Here it is. Pronovias Galante. I don't want to post a picture of me in it because I'm paranoid that FI will be snooping around this forum! hah Here is the model in my dress...
  21. I finally bought my dress!! It took me 3 times of going back to try it on before I could finally say yes to the dress!! I'm pretty sure I knew without a doubt it would be my dress the first time I tried in on though! Its Pronovias Galante Here is a picture of the model in the dress. Love the ruffles!!
  22. I plan on wearing my e-ring and wedding band separately. I think my e-ring looks best on its own...it has 3 sided pave and i don't want to cover any of the side diamonds! I will probably get a plain white gold band to wear on my left ring finger for times when I can't wear my e-ring like wakeboarding, mountain biking, gardening etc... I hadn't thought of wearing my plain wedding band on my right hand... I may do that! I like that idea!
