  1. I also ordered tropical beige for FI's suit. I actually took the swatches to my dress store to compare the colors to my dress... i didn't want us to both be the same color. My dress is an "off-white"/ivory color, and the tropical beige is perfect because we will both stand out and not blend together. According to the bridal consultant the tropical beige would look great on all skin colors, but the rome beige (which was my second choice) is more of an olive-y color and would suit darker skin tones better. Now I'm just praying I took the measurements okay...!!
  2. Ugh these things always happen when you don't have time to deal with them!! Someone hit and run my car 3 weeks ago while it was parallel parked outside my work. The guy at the body shop said the exact same thing to me too.... he said it looks more like I backed into something, when clearly I knew I didn't! I was so upset and so nervous about my meeting at ICBC... but the guy was surprisingly nice about it and didn't even try to accuse me of backing in to anything! I only have to pay the $300 hit and run deductible to get it fixed (which I still haven't had time to do). They could have just been extra nice to me because I have an ongoing settlement with ICBC and they want to keep me happy so I will settle sooner.. haha I hope your meeting goes as well as mine did though!! ICBC is always out to screw you... so you just have to prepare for the worst. Where are you having your AHR??
  3. Rose... your mint matchbooks are adorable!!! I LOVE them!! I think you just inspired me to do another DIY!! hehe Did you make the template yourself?? Also, for the real touch bouquet - how long does it take from when you order to receive it? I was all for a real flower bouquet, but now I'm starting to think a real touch one would be nice because I'll know exactly what the flowers will look like!
  4. We have no one who is still deciding, our group booking rate date it up so anyone extra who wants to come will be paying almost double...so i doubt we'll have any last minute bookers! FI and I are now thinking that we could use the passport I made, and tweek it a little bit and make it more of a thank you for booking passport with info about the resort, packing info, info about the actual wedding day in Mexico etc... We'll also include a luggage tag and only send it to our friends and family who are coming to the wedding! I just hope no one thinks it is tacky not to send out a formal invite to everyone - we're not having a traditional formal wedding at all, so hopefully it will be ok.
  5. Omg May is coming SO quickly!!! Now that Christmas is over and done with, and my wedding is the next big thing it feels so much closer!! I've had absolutely no stress what so ever in this whole planning process. But now I am starting to feel a little overwhelmed! I designed my passport invites about 3 months ago. I'm just getting ready to print and start assembling them! However, FI and a couple of my friends seem to think it is pointless to send our the invites because almost all our friends and family treated the STD we sent out back in July as the invite. We already know exactly who is coming and who isn't going to be able to come. Everyone has already RSVP'd and booked their trip if they are coming. For those who have already told us they aren't going to be able to come, would it be rude to still send them the invite? And our friends who are coming, they might be annoyed that they have to send back an RSVP when we already know they will be there! Should I still send out the invites?!? I'm so confused.
  6. Hey Ladies!! Our resort is featured in the Feb 2011 issue of Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine!!! The article features a couple who got married at DT on June 11, 2010. Their wedding looked beautiful!!
  7. Rose! Beautiful dress!! I love it!!!
  8. Where did you find the not real finger starfish? I have been looking everywhere... FI doesn't want to use real ones because of how they are harvested! Thanks!
  9. Thanks for posting such an awesome review!! You looked beautiful!! Will you post more pictures?? Did you have a symbolic or legal ceremony? I am concerned about how religious it will be! I thought if it is symbolic you could write your own ceremony!
  10. Hi V! Is DT requiring you to pay an outside vendor fee for the women who is doing your centerpieces? If they are I would probably go with the same lady for your hair/makeup...as they can't charge the same person an outside vendor fee twice. That way you could also consider doing the free package as you aren't using a lot of the perks included in the package!
  11. My favorite places were on Columbia St in New Westminster. Sposa Wedding World, Lisa's Bridal and Bridal Gallery are all within walking distance of each other!! I Loved Sposa and Bridal Gallery and bought my dress from Sposa! Worst experience was at Bryans Bridal in Brentwood Mall... the consultant kept on putting me in huge dresses that I specifically told her I did not want and then when I told her they were too poofy she told me I was wrong...haha
  12. When I was diving in Belize I stayed at Caye Caulker, the island next to Caye Ambergris. Caye Ambergris is very touristy and busy, kind of like a mini miami. Caye Caulker is much smaller, quieter and laid back...sand roads, no cars, very relaxing! Both islands go to the same dive sites as they are so close together. I definitely recommend a trip to Lighthouse Reef, beautiful dives and the Blue Hole is there. Turneffe Reef was a close second too... I'm leaving for Australia tomorrow... and I'll be diving the GBR this time next week!! so excited!
  13. I think people like to wait until the very last minute!! Its human nature... I had a great group rate and deposits had to be put down before Sept 8th... we only had 6 people booked prior to Sept 8th! I almost had a heart attack because I thought no one was going to book! Then on Sept 8th... 33 people called my travel agent and put down deposits!!! What a bunch of procrastinators!! My poor travel agent was worked to death that day! haha
  14. The lack of meal choices is def my biggest disappointment too. My family/friends have a lot of food allergies/sensitivities and stuff. 6 people allergic to shellfish/seafood... 3 vegetarians, 1 vegan... 6 people don't eat beef... 3 refuse to eat fish. I think my only option is to offer the chicken and veg lasagna. They do offer vegetarian lasagna as a second choice for vegetarians... but I still don't know what to do about my sister who is vegan! I just keep reminding myself that people will be able to choose their own meals for the rest of the week and the wedding food is only one night.
  15. I love your bags!! and the mixbooks... what a great idea!! Thanks for sharing!
  16. FI and I have also decided not to have a wedding party! Choosing bridesmaids was my only source of wedding stress... so I decided to forgo it and just have no wedding party at all! Our wedding is so small and intimate anyway that we only invited our closest friends and family, and I don't want anyone to feel left out! I think I will give a special gift to my 6 best friends and sister to thank them for being "unofficial bridesmaids". I have a couple questions about logistics of having no wedding party though.. hehe So other brides who are doing this please help! - who is going to carry the rings? Should FI just have them in his pocket and pull them out when its time to exchange rings? - who will hold my bouquet while we exchange vows? - do you still have witnesses sign the certificate? Should we choose witnesses who will be seated during the ceremony to come up sign the document? Will that look awkward?
  17. Registered Nurse. I work in peds... oncology/hematology/BMT
  18. Diving for the first time with your hubby on your honeymoon will make it memory you'll never forget!! You'll probably end up like me... you'll choose all your vacation destinations based on the scuba diving!!
  19. Would you consider doing Bride and Groom pictures before the ceremony? Apparently this is a really popular option... its called "first look" wedding photos. Photographers LOVE when the schedule allows for this because they get really amazing pictures without being rushed. That way you could get great photos in daylight without worrying about time! It just really depends on whether or not you want him to see you for the first time walking down the aisle!
  20. I would say this is the best advice you could give to any brides who are looking into getting married at DT! An acquaintance of mine got married at DT last December. She was never a member of BDW, never even heard of it (poor girl)! She was 100% thrilled and amazed by the wedding Dreams Tulum provided her with. She went into the process with only the wedding coordinator and wedding guide as a reference... and was not disappointed at all! I think us BDW brides are slightly spoiled by the fact that we get to hear other brides reviews and experiences and expect that we should get the same service and be allowed to bend the rules a little because other brides did. Ex. having two entrees, setup costs waived, no outside vendor fees, free room upgrades... etc... whereas if you didn't hear that other brides got this you would never think to expect it. The bottom line is that DT will still provide you with a BEAUTIFUL wedding...You just have to expect to pay for everything you wish you receive. The one thing that does really piss me off is the inconsistency between all the different Dreams Resorts. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the other Dreams resorts take the same business approach to weddings as DT, rather than the other way around
  21. Oh no! This is what I'm worried about!! Whenever we've have custom clothing made its always the same person measuring and then making the clothing. I'm worried that even if we go to a professional tailor, they may take measurements a little different than the person doing all the sewing!!
  22. I'm sorry it took me so long to find this thread!! I'm surprised there aren't more divers on this thread as well!! Most places to have a destination wedding would also have amazing diving! I want to hear all about your Bora Bora diving as well!! I'm sure it will be amazing!! I may have to add it to my bucket list! I highly recommend doing Liveaboards when diving, especially Thailand (Similan Islands) and Australia (GBR). You live on the boat for 3-7 days and do 3-4 dives per day. It means you can get to dive more and go to sites that are further off shore that you wouldn't be able to get to otherwise!
