  1. We are getting married in Fiji so I am doing all my research now on resorts. There are two main 'all inculsive' hotels - the Naviti and the Warwick. I have been tio the Naviti before, it was great but more on the budget side of things. The Warwick is probably where we will be having the wedding - right next door to the Naviti but a bit more fancy - however I have been told that it is full of families so not sure how you would feel about it for your honeymoon. If you want to splash out Turtle Island is the place to go - thats where the celebrities in Australia all go and it is amazing - but the prices match... My friend honeymooned at Manamuca Islands - which is where we are thinking of going, it is supposed to be absolutely stunning there, but not all inclusive. As for safety warning: There is currently some political instability in Fiji, but this is the same with all small island nations and nothing to really worry about. My Sister is married to a Fijian and he doesn't think there is anything to worry about either. Fiji relies on their tourist business to stay afloat ans will not let their political dramas interfere with that business. Suva is the political hub, all the other touristy stuff is 4 hours away on the other side of the island. it is very safe - much safer than other pacific destinations or Bali for example. and a whole lot cheaper than going to Hayman, hamilton, the whitsundays or any of the Australian based islands.
  2. OMG Mel I love those placesettings with the shells. Jaimem I think you can use any idea that you like, just incorpoarte your colours onto the cards. You could use bright white starfish with red tags and names embossed in black. Or red ribbon on the white starfish with tags in black and white...
  3. We have already started working on my FI's teeth for the wedding. He has always had little teeth and hated them, then had a snowboarding accident and chipped the front two. In the last 2 months we have spend about $6000 fixing his teeth. I couldn't have spent the money on anything better in my opinion. My FI loves his new teeth. I always thought he would look much better with his teeth fixed, but I wasn't prepared for how happy it was going to make him. Not the kind of guy to ever spend too much time in front of the mirror, i now catch him checking out his teeth in the mirror and looking stoked about how he looks! He even smiles in photos now. Best money I have ever spent! My teeth are really good, but I'm looking into getting some little things fixed and having them whitened for the big day just becasue of the dramatic improvement it has made to FI.
  4. Honestly - thats an incredibly sexy dress and I can see why you picked it. From the back I think that it look amazing! very sexy, and I think it elongates you with the vertical line down your back From the front - I think you are right it does cut you off a little, I think it is a combination of the bulk of the straps and the length of the dress That being said - I would look at your options for altering it as I think with some creative changes it could be the 'one' Here would be my suggestion - dont touch the back - but make it the feature of the dress. Cut off the bit at the front making it strapless (the bit still goes up the front and bust, just finishes at the top of the dress. I would get straps made out of the ivory fabric that goe from the back of your neck (connecting it to the top of feature up your back) and have the sraps connect the the outer edges of the bustline (essentially turning it into a halter). You would also need to shorten it. The white halter would elongate the dress at the white will travel up to the top of your shoulders insted of cutting off at the bust. Anyway, thats just my suggestion but I'm no steamstress!! Hope it helps anyway - just something to think about - maybe it is the 'one' and you just haven't digged deep enough just yet
  5. The only thing that I owuld caution is sending the message to everyone. On facebook, when they reply it will go to everyone, not just to you so some poeple may have a problem with a massive list of your friends and family all getting their address. There are two things you cabn do to get around this, both will take a little bit more time. 1. send the emails to each person individually - this will also help you keep track later incase you loose an address. 2. set up a facebook group about your wedding, and make sure you make the setting so that only you can add epople to the group. You will then have to add everyone to the group, and wait for them to accept. From the group page you will be able to send a message to all people who have accepted the group invitation, and when they reply it will go only to you... I just know that sometimes my friends loose their phones and email everyone in the one email through facebook to get their numbers back, and everyone gets to see the phone number of everyone that replies... I never reply to those just becasue I dont want 50 random people to have my mobile number
  6. I agree with Tammy B - as long as you have looked carefully at her work and you like what she does then thats a great deal. Just make sure her photos are not just fabulous in one lighting condition. You need to see natural light inside, artifical light inside and night inside shots, outside shots full sun, cloudy condiitons, sunsets and nighttime. Better to be safe than sorry... If you are hapopy with all that then fantastic!!
  7. what an awesome idea!!! I'm with ashly - cant wait to hear the suggestions from other brides!
  8. whoops, im going against the grain here, but I'm going for number 2. It reminds me of the sand and surf
  9. Hi Beachbum If you have any more questions, just shout out. I live in sydney at the moment, but have travelled all over Australia. October is a GREAT time to see Australia - the weather is amazing that time of year... If you give me an idea of the kind of couple you are, I can suggest some things for you to do??
  10. they look so good! Glad there is someone else having patterns on the bridesmaid dresses I think it look amazing !YAY
  11. wow thats a great flower arrangement! I may have to borrow that idea

Portfolio is really important. Its a different technique used for natural portraits, wedding shots, couple photos, indorrs and outdoors and its a talent working with the strong natural light and colouring on the beach. You need to balance the price with a photographer who can take amazing photos in all the conditions. The right photographer not only has a great understanding of colouring and composition, as wellas lighting and saturation - but also will know things about your best angles and take more flatering photos...
  13. congrats and welcome! If you have any last minute questions about Australia just PM me! Adelaide is hours away, but if I can answer stuff on travelling around adelaide (just got back from there a couple weeks ago) and also about travelling to Oz - dreaded customs! etc Good luck!
  14. Thanks for posting this thread - I was too embarassed to ask myself
  15. I think a reading is a really good way of including your brother - it doesn't have to be religious or anything if your not into that... If you are doing a sand ceremony, then maybe he can be the 'minister' for that bit? Say the speech about what the ceremony represents and then get you to do the pouring. He also gets to feel responsible for a part of your wedding then too...
  16. well ladies, my wedding diet started this week! After having failed at the diet thing so many times in the past, I'm trying to be as positive as possible this time around and break down my goals and targets. My best friend is a very fit skinny bitch and we are going to Fiji in October to check out wedding locations, so that is my first goal - 1 less double chin by then only kidding - well its ambitiuos but I want to loose 10kgs by then. This time I have decided to do Lite'n'easy (calorie controlled meals delivered) just coz one of my major problems is take out :S So this way I have easy, healthy, low cal food on hand at all times Wish me luck ladies!! Well now that its out on the net for all to read my ultimate goal will be to loose more than 30kgs by the wedding - very achievable over a whole year. If we were talking about a dream world I would be putting 50kgs! I still wont be skinny, but I think I would be a lot happier with myself, curvey - but able to shop in regular shops
  17. Since we aren't big enough to have our own forum I thought I would start a thread for us - and I know there is at least one other Fiji bride on here... I am getting married in October next year - but I'm going over this year in October to check out some locations - I thought maybe some other brides may need me to look at things for them too (no promises, but I can try!) So far we have not chosen a venue yet, but are looking at the Warwick or Shangri-La but also considering the Intercontinental and Westin. Mostly we are looking for a good deal for our guests - I dont mind if we have to pay a little bit more for the wedding, but I want our guests to get a great deal on their accomodation - and the warwick does all inclusive - a big plus for our guests. I know there are lots of other frustrations for Fiji brides and I think it would be great to share things like photographers information, flowers etc etc... anyway, I'm so excited and really just hoping to be of some help to anyone else when I go on my location visit in a couple months ! YAY Fiji Brides !
  18. I havn't checked them out but I know you can do e-marketing through Vistaprint?? Other than that I agree with Becks and maybe design your own in powerpoint as an embeded image
  19. I think you should wear a cute dress too - plus the cold is nothing that a glass of champers or two cant fix!
  20. OH MY GOD - I am having the exact same dilemma! How much do I wish that we were getting married at the same time! I'm also a fiji bride - and have been (so far) unimpressed by the local photographers. I would recommend looking at some Australia Photographers - not only would the travel costs be significantly reduced, but also with the exchange rate of the US dollar the photographers would be quite reasonably priced. Its something that I have been stressing about ever since we decided on a DW. Originally I was just going to get friends to take photos - but after looking at the amazing pictures of ladies on this site, I really want beautiful pictures and a TTD session You could try advertising on guntree Classifieds ? Gumtree Sydney Free Classified Ads ? Gumtree Sydney Online Community in Sydney for budding wedding photographers? at least the advertisement will be free... Let me know how you go!
