I ended up getting the bright purple Phalaenopsis Orchids with the white cala lillies. I ordered some of the real touch latex orchid heads in all colours from a vendor off ebay (a guy in Melbourne) and they are great $20 including postage for 16 of them. I'm going to make the button holes and use them for centre peices as well. Really happ with those ones too so I will be getting more for decorations

hah no, dress shopping this weekend to decide on a style, then i'm going to take the plunge and order. I was really nervous, but yours and tangas both lookso great, I really think you can't go wrong. especially since there aren't really places in Sydney like Davids, its $1000 or nothing round here. Love the cake topper, I have added it to my list of things to do before the wedding! Its going to be a bit of a surprise for FI - Sports themed. Thats if I can keep my mouth shut til then!

Final Version - Engagement Shoot
Jo 2010 replied to finleys7's topic in Post your Destination Wedding & Engagement Pictures!
They are lovely!! I love the use of colour - its not overdone. -
My sister has just told me that they are going to start trying again three months before the wedding. I wish they would put it back by just a month or two, considering they have had two years notice of my wedding date. I know she wont be very far allong, but in her last pregnancy she went from a c cup to g cup in the first 6 weeks and had a bump at three months. A bump will be totally accomodated by the dress, but if her boobs get massive again, then the dress will be a disaster... I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it! and I just keep thinking about a beautiful new baby in the family, rather than the dissapointment of either my sister not being by my side, or her buying a different dress for her (which would be easier if she was my MOH, but she's not) and not having everything look the way I had imagined...

Is 15 Months Too Early For STD's?
Jo 2010 replied to QueenDiva's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We gave 2 years notice (we are half way) and we are so amazed at how many of our guests are savin/have plans in place/have already booked their leave at work! We were actually shocked that so many people are actively planning to come (we are still too far out to book mind you, so we will see when its time to put $$ on the line) but everyone has said that they were able to put all plans in place to come BECAUSE we gave them so much notice. Our invites are going out in January (10 months beofre the wedding) then as soon as people book we are sending them a 'thankyou note' and three months out we will send a little reminder to anyone that hasn't just in case they forgot Thank god for Vistaprint! -
Hi Ladies I have been tossing up with a number of things to do for the wedding with Vistaprint, so I wanted to try out all the things - so made little stocking fillers for people Calendar - We have a calendar of all my fav pics of FI and I for next year - LOVE IT - the photos are on glossy stock and the dates are on Matt so you can easily write on it. I am definately making up more of these for family and friends whenever they are free! Hot tip - try and make sure you get a deal where the photo upload charge is free as well as the calendar - I got stung there but noticed two days later that they were both free on the next vista email... Desk Calendar - So happy with this for my best friend - its all photos of us travelling over the past 5 years - I love it. Address labels - Made chrissy ones for us and some for FMIL too, again very happy. I'd probably look at using more of the space next time tho, there is a lot of room on the right hand side of each label... Postcards - I want to design some RSVP's using the postcards so go tester ones - we will put these ones in our OOT bags for people send home. Was a little dissapointed that they weren't thinker. They definately weren't as think as traditional postcards, however they weren't flimsy either. Rack cards (blue) and Invites (red) - I have a suspicion that Rack cards are invites were exactly the same - and I was right. Except you get 50 free rack cards and 10 free invites. You do get plain envelopes free with the invites - but I think I am happy picking them up from office works or something... So, quality exactly the same. The Rack cards are gloss on the front and Matt on the back. I chose Matt for the invites, so they are Matt both sides. You have to go with Gloss for the Rack cards, so that would be my only warning - I think they look great tho and am really happy to use them for invites and menus and programs too. Pen - it was free so I got one as a pressie to FI with his footy nickname on it. just a little fun. Anyway - hope this helps some of you with deciding on Vista! I'm definately going for it - now to master Illustrator and I will be all set !

Hey ladies! Does anyone else feel like they are organising a bit too much too soon. I've become addicted to planning and have all kinds of DYI stuff in the works - but I get worried that its all too much too soon...

Thanks for all the suggestions For the life of me I couldn't see the face - but its the only thing FI could see too!Now that it has been pointed out we have to change it coz its all that I can see So we are changing it to a graphic of an orchid in ivory and yellow. Suggestions about the font were right on - it was too hard to read, so we are changing that and playing up the date a bit more. Thank you for all your help ladies!! I will post the new logo when I get it from Kylie

I definately think that Vistaprint is the way to go... and remember that rack cards are the same as invites except you get 50 for free instead of 10! I am planning on doing everything through Vistaprint. Im giving myself a crash course in Photoshop/Illustrator at the moment so I can have everything matching and in my own design Make sure you post whatever you create so we can all see

How to order from Duosheng
Jo 2010 replied to Jennyco116's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
There is a really long thread called "knock off wedding dress" which is all about girls who have/are ordering from duosheng or landy or milly or gianina - there is loads of helpful information in there about how to order, what peoples email addresses are and samples etc... -
Melette's SURPRISE Bachelorette Weekend! *Pics*
Jo 2010 replied to melette's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Sounds like you had a blast - your friends have done a wonderful job! Not long now!! -
OK, so FMIL wants to walk her son down the aisle before I walk down with my dad... What do you guys think? My FI is totally embarrassed by the whole thing, and just wants to stand up sneak down the side and stand up the front with his mates waiting for me. I kinda feel like she wants some of my limelight by walking down the aisle? am i being crazy? He has tried to say that its not really what he wants, but she is insisting on it. So do we try and explain and risk hurting her feelings? Or do I tell FI to 'suck it up' and just do what his mum wants - since its not really a massive request anyway... Has anyone seen a wedding where the groom walks down the aisle with his mother first??

What a great thread - it's so interesting learning about all of you... I have a Psych degree and work in Organisation Psychology as a Recruiter!

Dress Shopping
Jo 2010 replied to Girasole's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I had the same experience! My FI and I had agreed on all the things we didn't like in a wedding dress - and what wouldn't look right for our beach wedding. I tried on several of the dresses that had all the things I was looking for - and they were beautiful... But then my fitted asked me to try one on for her - It had EVERYTHING I didn't want - sweetheart neckline, strapless, very sparkly and lots of netting under a big A-line skirt (everything FI has said that he hated) and it looked amazing - far better on me than anything I had picked out for myself... So I went back to FI and asked him what he didn't like about the dresses - turns out it was another wedding we went to where a friend was wearing a dress with all those things and she kept yanking it up during the wedding, and then did it up so tight that she had a back roll allong the top edge of her dress! Anyway, so I explained that that was just how it was done up, and he said then he thinks it would look good on me! Men. Stress. The point of the story is that sometimes guys attribute things they dont like to the wrong thing... You FI may not have like V-necks coz the woman he saw looked flat chested - when that has way more to do with the woman than the nackline Best of luck with shopping - best advice is to have an OPEN mind. agreeing to try on anything was the best decision... -
rather than looking for specific designers... I would identify the elements of a dress that give it that spansih flavour. Create a list to go shopping with, so that you narrow the dresses down to just those that have the feel that you are looking for... Ruffles, Splits, flowers, lace, off the shoulder. That way you can hand it to your fitter, explain that the dress doesn't need all the elements, but these are the kinds of things that you are looking for in a dress... One of the biggest lessons I have learn in dress shopping is to use the fitters and attendants! They know all the dresses, and from my experience, have a MUCH better idea about what looks good on you than you do! Good luck finding 'the one'!

Hi Bitohoney I'm not sure if you booked someone yet... I went with Bruce Southwick of Zoom Fiji - I love his use of colour. I have also heard really good things about Yoshi from oceanstudio. The photographer that I am getting to do my engagement shoot at home - Janine Kaye, only just mentioned to me that she would LOVE to do a desination wedding. http://www.janinekaye.com.au/# Her work is amazing! I know a couple who have used her before for their engagement shoot and wedding. May be worth a contacting as I know she was gutted when she found out that we had already booked our pgotographer in Fiji... Anyway, if you do, let her know that I told you about her

Do you know the designer?
Jo 2010 replied to nwabien's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I knew I had seen it before... Dee83 posted it in the knock off wedding dress thread... She actually got it made from light in the box. but unfortunately she didn't write the orginial designer. If it helps she was really impressed with the quality and she posted pictures of it as well - it was really well made... sorry! -
