  1. Hi all! This question is mostly directed to those who would have already done it (because you would be the best to know) but maybe future brides would know too! Have any of you shipped boxes of items (decorations, OOT bags, etc) to the DR before your wedding? Did it work well, and how much was it? Any feed back is welcome!
  2. I love this!!! I only wish I had enough points to download them!! How many pointsé posts do I need to download things from the site
  3. any news back from your wc on Dominican traditions? I think this would be too cool!! If I were getting married in Mexico in the Yucatan Penninsula, I would be incorporating lots of Mayan traditions! But alas, it is Dominican we have chosen so I would love to bring their culture into our wedding!
  4. And of course, we have to take into account what FH would like! My FI came to me last night and feels like he doesn't want to fool everyone into thinking its the real wedding when its only a renewal of vows. So it looks like we are back to a legal ceremony with all of the paperwork and translation! I understand his thoughts, but for me it really doesn't matter, so I will do what he would like to do. Either way, he will be my husband at the end of the day!
  5. by the way Ashley 007 I can send you the bouquet choices if you'd like, I got them from Deyanira last week! Just post your email
  6. Hi ladies! Personal experience right now is that any prices you are being quoted right now (and those for online) for later in 2010 are "early booking bonus" quotes. My FH and I are getting married July 1st or 2nd next year and the prices we are getting would require that everyone in our party be all paid up by November 30th! Not even we can afford to do that (we have a wedding to pay for after all!) So when you are speaking to your TA's just verify that with the prices you're being quoted that your guests have until 60 days (or whatever the minimum may be with that company) to pay for their trip.
  7. My FI and I are marrying in Punta Cana on Canada Day next year, and after enough thought we decided to do a Symbolic Ceremony in Punta Cana and are going to get married here in Canada on June 21st (the first official day of summer!) to avoid the extra cost and paperwork. We told my parents, simply because we need witnesses at the wedding at the Courthouse, but even my FI's parents will be in the dark about it! For us here in Nova Scotia it costs only about 480 dollars total for the licence, cert., ceremony and change of name, compared to about 1200 for a legal ceremony in DR. I mean to each his own, but this is what works for us! Good luck deciding!
  8. Hi Darcy, I am in love with the dress PM me if it isn't already gone!!
  9. Hi there! How much are you asking for the dress?
  10. Hey Mesita! Just wondering how much you are asking for the wedding dress and the TTD dress? PM me with the cost if you don't want to post it here
  11. It is beyond addictive in here! But it's funny because whenever my fiance and I start talking about something and we don't know the answer, he says "Go ask the girls on the forum, someone must know!" Haha I think it is hilarious!!
  12. yes Nonnie, please post about that! I don't know if that is something a lot of people have thought of! I'm curious to hear about what kind of coin that is... very intriguing!
  13. Hey ladies! Anyone that asked for the bouquet options should have them now, I sent them from my email of [email protected] (in case it ends up in junk somehow!)
  14. Thanks for your ideas, I will definitely check it out! I have been able to find the cost from English to Spanish but back the other way is proving a challenge!
  15. lrdavis - Deyanira emailed me the bouquet choices, so give me your email and I will send them along!
  16. Hi Ladies! This is mostly directed at the Canadian brides, since it is probably a different answer for the USA! I am getting married in Dominican Republic next July and I am wondering how much it costs to have the marriage certificate from DR translated back into English? Or do you receive it in English already? My fiance and I are adding up the costs to see which we would rather do: the legal wedding down there or get married here just before leaving and have a renewal of vows. Thanks everyone in advance!
  17. ebredhawk- thank you very much for the email addresses! To all the brides out there past and present, who are your wedding coordinators and who have you found to be the most helpful? Thanks!
  18. lrdavis- by the way, have you heard anything from the WC about flower choices?
  19. ebredhawk- if you could report their emails that would be FANTASTIC! lrdavis- The info about the rates for me would be different than yours, since I'm from canada, but thanks for the offer! As for the info the WC sent you, that would be great! I will PM you my address
  20. Thanks so much everyone!! I'm already finding some great ideas for every aspect of my wedding, and I know I can ask you guys for advice about ANYTHING!
  21. lrdavis23 - do you have your trip booked too? I am wondering about this! I am currently waiting for a TA to get back to me about pricing for the packages per person, so I think my hands are kind of tied for my date? Let me know what you have done, maybe this can help me move things along! I am looking for the last week of June and into July, and it's frustrating when some travel agents (SOME, not all) seem to be too laid-back for my liking, saying its too early... but then I see ladies like you who are confirming your dates? Give me some advice on this one please ladies!!
