I'm 5'3" and FI is about 5'11", so its not too bad!! We will both be barefoot for the ceremony, but my heels for the reception/dance will probably be about 3"!

I think it is rare that people can afford to pay everyone's way on a cruise or all-inclusive! You could definitely do it for around that, I would check out the sections on this site about cruise ship weddings and whatnot. Happy planning!!

A TA that I spoke to told me that the three day rule is enforced more strictly when the bride and groom come alone, or with only another couple (for example), since it could be fradulent (I know, stupid, but it happens!) I am arriving on June 29th and getting married on July 2nd, and the WC didn't seem to think it would be a problem, she didn't express any concerns to us! RIUMambo- Is that based in Ottawa?

I agree with you, Ash!! We went back and forth between a symbolic and a civil ceremony, and finally we have decided on the civil. Although it is much less headache to do a symbolic, we wanted our wedding anniversary (as everyone knew it) to be that day. It wouldn't make it any less special, but we also had to intention of not telling anyone we go married before. We decided that we didn't want to deceive our family, so we are going with civil.. haha! But if your parents and family and guests are aware that it is a renewal of vows so to speak, and are still willing to come and are ok with it, I would go with that!!

a spanx style underwear would be great... the kind that go down on your thighs, since there would be no line! If I can't find the right underwear, it might be a commando type situation... haha

Its true... anything less than your dream dress will leave you brokenhearted. Check around for pre-owned, but when it comes down to it, if you buy it at 1200 and then sell it after the wedding for half price, you could recoup the cost and arrive at your desired price of $600 (approx.) Just a thought! That dress IS gorgeous

you look beautiful in it as-is... don't stress about those 20 lbs! If you lose them, great, but your dress looks fantastic now

By the way, #2 is very slimming on you!! I think it has to do with the neckline, since it elongates your neck... the scoop neck may be a little too blunt! If I were you, I would see how the designer would feel about incorporating some of the things that you like about allof the dresses (within reason) into your custom made dress... if you like the sash/corset of #4, add that, or the sleeves, add those! It's really up to you, but I'm sticking with #2! Haha

I'm torn between #2 and #3... if it were me, I would be picking #2, but since you say you are a big fan of the sleeves I would say #3 is my next pick!! I think #1 is a little too covered up for a beach wedding (although this dress would work in a gazebo I think!) The detail of a "sash" in the front but that it blends right into your coreset is pretty neat... I like that detail!

By the way Ash I like your A & J monogram with the starfish, how did you make it?

Aha! Yeah its more tied down that one, less blowing! My veil will be doing enough blowing around I think.. haha I don't know I will have to decide that later! SSNM - fingers crossed for your date!! We are going to Punta Cana, and are using a contact through work with sell off vacations. Our travel agent is AMAZING, he is getting us everything from lower deposit rates to free seat upgrades and we get every 12th person free... definitely do your research and look around. And the biggest thing is, don't be afraid to ask!! If you don't ask, you will never know! Sometimes if you get something with one travel agent that sounds good, go see ANOTHER TA and see if they can offer you the same perk and maybe something more to entice you to use their company. Its all a big dance... ahaha
