Dreams Punta Cana Brides
nsbride2010 replied to LadyCheese's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Hey ladies! A girl who recently posted a review on tripadvisor.com sent me her webpage with all of her pictures from her wedding at DPC. She had a beach ceremony with a reception on the Himitsu terrace. Apparently, her experience with Carolina was not great... she said the wedding was fantastic but the WC caused a lot of stress! You can go see her review online, it should be on the first page or it might have gotten bumped to the 2nd... either way its a good one to read!! Let me know if you wanna se the pics I will send the link along -

Ok ladies, I am feeling like I've been had. I am not impressed right now, since this is the first time I have heard about some of these things. Check out the answer to #4. I will post all of the questions I asked, so that we can see what I was told as well! 1. Does the $15 setup fee apply to the wedding ceremony, the reception, or both? Or neither? Just for receptions on the beach or Santo Domingo Plaza. 2. After 10 people (since I am taking the free package), what is the charge for sparkling wine per person? Each additional bottle of champagne has a cost of US$15.00 3. In the free package, are chair covers included for the ceremony and reception? Yes, it includes white covers for chairs and table for the ceremony. The free package does not includes reception. If you decide to have a dinner package, it will include white covers for chairs and tables. 4. Is the Gold dinner package $490 USD as shown on the website, or is it $40 per person as stated in the information booklet? I don't see a price for 20 people in the booklet. The Gold dinner is US$800.00 for 2010 up to 20 guests and each additional guest pays US$40.00 5. If I have more than 20 people at the reception dinner, am I charged a $15 setup fee for each person? If having the reception on the beach or Santo Domingo plaza yes. 6.For the meal, is the 15% gratuity included in the price, or is it in addition to the price as shown? 26% (taxes and services) is included in 2010 rates. 7. If for some reason we decided to switch to a symbolic ceremony, are we able to do this? Yes What is the cut-off date, and are we charged a cencellation fee? The wedding can be cancelled six or more months prior to the confirmed date without penalties. If the wedding is cancelled within six months, the non-refundable deposit will be kept as a penalty. If the wedding is cancelled, but the couple still travels as planned, the deposit can then be applied toward any additional room charges made during their stay. 8. If we do a symbolic ceremony, is there a "souvenir" certificate we could sign in front of our guests? No. Our guests will not know that our ceremony is symbolic if we choose to do it this way. They do not have to know that the ceremony is symbolic. Sometimes the Judge is late since we just one Judge who is performing weddings in about 50 resorts, in those we can perform symbolic ceremonies and then sign with the Judge upon his arrival (normally in the office, just the couple and the witnesses) so you could say that you will be signing with the Judge later. 9. If we choose to do a symbolic ceremony, can we still have our date of July 2, 2010 and change it to an earlier time of day? Yes, based on the availability. 10. Is the charge for the huppah still $150 if we only want the tulle (or white linens, what ever it is you use on it)? We would just want the basic, no flowers or anything! Yes, US$150.00 just with white fabric and no flowers. Soooo... yeah. The cost of the 'effing reception at the resort is looking more and more expensive!! The worst part is, the website says $490 and below say that it is effective for 2010. I am so confused, back to the drawing board again! -

I think I have some pictures somewhere... let me check! If anyone else has some they can feel free to send them too! Do you have any children in your group? If not, I would suggest the Bordeaux since I have heard nothing but good things about their food (even from the people who didn't like Dreams)! -
oh well Melissa, at least you're down THIS week! You enjoyed your wedding, which is what you are supposed to do!! Focus on the good stuff... hehehe Steph I hope things are starting to go better for you! *hugs*

I think that there might be some people who are being a bit too harsh, like one of the other girls said. This is your wedding day, and understandably you would like to share it with as many people as possible. With a DW, that can be hard, since everyone has reasons who they can't go (if they can't), and usually thats the end of it. But I see what you mean, the back and forth is whats confusing about it! This is your wedding, and you are allowed to be a little bit selfish... its all about the bride, right? I honestly wouldn't stress out too much about it though, because if you were very important to her, she would be there. I'm not sure of all of the family dynamics so I am not really in a position to judge, but I don't know that if I was going through the same thing (re: me being on drugs) if my aunt would necessarily not go to another cousin's wedding over it. Again, this is my family... but it seems a little off to me, I see where you are coming from! Regardless of WHO is there, your parents are going, and your FI is going (obviously... hehe) and those that are important to him are going. Everyone else at this point is just a bonus. I understand what you are saying about a supportive family, since my FI is not getting very much support from his family outside of his immediate family that is. Just keep your chin up and smile, your day will go on with or without them! Heather makes a good point, maybe your aunt is just not feeling like going because she thinks it will reflect badly upon her? Whatever the case may be, it is her loss that she will not be sharing in your special day. -

yeah Erin its ridiculous... and its mostly because of the "booking bonus" period being over... they jack up the prices and see what they can sell and then they slide back down over time.. its just a shatty waiting game! -
We are getting married at Dreams Punta Cana in July... our TA was able to negotiate us a really good "early booking" rate of $1078 + tax from Toronto. Now, this has gone up, and still fluctuates, but I checked on Selloffvacations.com the other day (the company through which we booked) and it is showing only around $1150 + tax I think? Once you get a rate they can only lock it in for a week I believe, and after that it could change again. I really like Dreams, and I really like Majestic. Either/or you will be impressed! And from what I hear, Paradisus is wonderful as well

Hanson Ellis is usually a pretty sure-fire bet... they don't mess up very often! I hope they come soon for you, thats just frustrating!

honestly this is PATHETIC... This is becoming a new trend in BDW, and it needs to stop! But how are we supposed to know someone is a fraud or a fake? We can't... I guess we just have to make sure we keep track of everything so that when someone disappears we can get our money back. Can't believe we can't even trust other brides in here!!

hey we ALL lost!! How awesome!! Congrats to everyone, especially Melissa!
