  1. kymkymkym - I noticed a comment you said.. "was always the chubby girl with the pretty face" OMG in the same boat as you.. every time I talk about losing weight people tell me "but you're so pretty... " SO Imagine what I'd look like if I was 150 pounds! I also need a good swift kick in the butt. No motivation at all these days.. it's to get to the gym the problem, once I'm there everything is fine. My workout buddy moved away a few years ago and we'd go to the gym all the time but since she's gone I've gone downhill. What motivates you guys? Any tips!!?
  2. I could probably talk myself into it and be ok.. it's more the money issue! Trying to stick to a budget and will probably end up getting it done for an anniversary!
  3. To speedy130: I am heading to royal playa del carmen in 5 weeks for vacation, CAN'T WAIT! to Cassie: you are getting married on the day of my birthday, yay!! And to all the other brides.. I am a backwards bride as well.. no engagement ring yet (but we've gone shopping) and here I am planning and reading away on this forum and elsewhere. I feel crazy but know it will pay off when he finally does pop the question. I'm aiming for a June 2011 wedding in Mexico somewhere.. probably riviera maya area. We're probably going to do the ceremony before leaving to avoid the costs and time needed for paperword, blood tests, etc.. crazy if you ask me!! Like others have said.. the only thing that matters to me is when I walk down the aisle with family and friends around!
  4. I've done the Dr. Phil diet previously and in the first phase it's about 1200 calories a day (so between 350/400 per meal + 2 snacks). It WORKS but you cannot keep this up for long.. probably 2 weeks and then must go back to eating a bit more or else your body will store the food. I've lost 6-7 pounds in two weeks without ever feeling hungry (because his diet is packed with protein and fruits/veggies)! We're heading to playa del carmen in 5 weeks and I am going to start next week just as a boost before the trip. Best way to lose is still healthy eating + exercise... now to only get my butt to the gym more than twice a week.. hahaha
  5. do most women do boudoir photos as a wedding gift or simply for fun, etc? I am a bigger girl (size 15-16 but have big legs..) and am worried what the end result would be and won't like it. For now, my soon to be FI wants a drum set as a wedding gift.. HA. And no.. he won't be playing in the house!
  6. I absolutely love that dress.. and I love the fact that it comes down just a bit below the knee and is not too short! Great choice!! Where did you order it from? I live in Canada.. always problems with shipping to us up here in the north ahha
  7. I say keep your date and nevermind the rest of them.. it's your day and don't feel bad! I can totally relate to date issues.. I'm a teacher myself and when we will set our date, I am almost obligated to have our wedding at the end of June (to stay clear of expensive spring break prices, Christmas, etc). But I'm not doing that for other guests, I'm doing it for myself! By the way.. anyone have bad weather issues in Mexico in June? Is it a terrible time to go?
  8. I love love love dress #2. Second choice is #1. But you look amazing in the second one.. figure and all!!
  9. I had a friend who talked to me about getting a lap band (?) put in her stomach. It's not as risky as gastric bypass and you can remove it.. but I can't ever see myself doing anything like that. The lowest I can remember being is 189.5. I think my brain saw that number on the scale and freaked/got scared.. I gained back over 30 pounds over the past 3 yrs. Working semi-hard to get back down there, but as you all know, it's not easy! I weighed myself this morning ... it's been about 6 weeks since I stepped on the scale and Xmas just passed by.. was so petrified! Well, good news, I'm down 3 pounds since before Christmas (220.5)! We leave in 5 weeks.. I'd LOVE to lose another 5-6.
  10. so so sorry to read this thread. It's gotta be the worst feeling in the world when you find out something like that. My words of advice.. stay strong and stick to your guns. If he loves you and wants to be with you, he'll hand over the passwords and hopefully realize the consequences of his actions. Don't give up, but don't be desperate.. good luck chica. xx
  11. Holy cow I just read all 71 pages of this thread..took me a few hours but I'm now up to date haha. I'll have to admit, being a + size girl pisses me off when ALL my friends are size 10 or under.. Also, being from Canada, we don't have that many stores to shop in. I can usually get tops at normal stores but pants.. forget about it! I have recently discovered NY&Co and god bless them because they have saved me in dress pants (work in a high school and can't wear jeans..) Not engaged yet but we're checking out rings and then the rest is up to him.. Found a GREAT dress on style fx but they won't ship to Canada and I don't want to sign up for that fake US address because the shipping charges are CRAZY. So.. I dunno what to do. Having lots of trouble to find summer dresses. We're heading to the Royal in Playa del Carmen at the end of Feb. Hoping to lose 8-10 pounds and have officially started last week to be careful with food and working out. Might also try the rapid start dr. phil diet.. I know his show can be corny sometimes but have had a lot of success with this 2-week rapid start plan so will surely do it again before the trip. I'm 28 and have been big all my life. I absolutely HATE my legs because they are huge and even my calves are big so there's no hiding anything. Dreading having to go dress shopping when I do get engaged! At least I'll have a year or more to slim down but would rather do it for myself and not a wedding. So nice to meet you all and hear your stories.. will be keeping this thread accessible in the future.
  12. It seems that Canadians (myself included) have higher prices than in the US. Does anyone know if Canadians can use US TAs?? Or will that cause a conflict when booking? One last question - on the average, how much do you save with TAs who have found a group rate?
  13. Well, I just read through the 41 pages of this thread and I am so glad I did.. even though I'm still waiting on that darn ring!! Jotted down all the ideas and am grateful because it will be a lifesaver when I actually do start planning!
  14. Wow, thank you all so much for the warm welcome, I NEVER thought everyone would be so nice!! I'm working on him for the ring, keep telling him that we won't be richer in 2 years so why wait hahaha I think getting married down south will be our best bet, especially since a wedding in Canada (Quebec, more precisely) will cost us over 20K - just because I'm a perfectionnist and have high standards. Can't wait to see what this forum has to offer, have a great day everyone!
  15. Hi everyone, my name is Heidi and my boyfriend's name is Francois. I'm getting ahead of the game and don't have a ring yet.. but want to read more about a destination wedding in the near future (let's hope!). Nice to meet you all and hope to learn lots from this site!
