  1. I have not put a deposit down yet. My w.p. said that I could put down a deposit. But maybe she was keeping until it opens. I think you should not be worried.
  2. Hey girls I have some great news. My w.c. said that a friend of hers just did a site visit at a resort close to dreams. And she took a look at the new dreams. She said it was great. The rooms were wonderful. And even talked to the chef and really liked him alot. Just thought I would let you girls know. Also Monday I am booking 10 rooms with the resort. In the beginning my t.a said I was going to get some promotions for booking this many rooms. Now I am not really getting a answer from her. Anybody booked and got some promo's?? If so let me know what you have heard. Another thing how many days are your guest staying. I have to decide on if I want to pick 3 nights or 4 and I just dont know which one to do??
  3. Wow I did not put that many smiles not sure how that happened. lol
  4. I placed this on another thread and I heard this might be a better thread to post it on. Anyways I am getting married at the new dreams riviera cancun resort. And since it is not open yet. I was hoping I could just get some general questions answered by some previous Dreams brides or ones further along in the planning process.. First Any of you had a reception at one of their restaurants and payed a small fee?? Instead of have a private reception. I am really thinking this might be a possibility if we do not have over 10 guest. If so how was that experience? Second I am on a budget and would love to have dancing after the wedding. But not sure if having a d.j is in the budget. At the resort website it mentions a desires sports bar. It says it offers a dance floor. Anyone take advantage of this sports bar for a some free dancing after the wedding? Thank you
  5. For the pictures of the beach I googled puerto morales. Which is where the resort is located. Some pictures were great of the water some not so much. But I did not ever think of the hurricanes and when the pictures might had been taken. I would think that Dreams resort knows how to make a wonderful resort. They are not going to spend a ton of money on a resort and put it on a beach with ugly water.
  6. Thank you that was very helpful. The prices I got back from the new resort on speaker rental was 180 per hour. Kind of expensive. I just wonder what kind of music they will playing at the bar? I wonder even if I could request some songs? We only have one child coming with us to the resort. Which is my own. So thanks for pointing that out I never thought about that. Huuummmm Decision decisions.
  7. Kat I guess you would not want to go have a drink then. Good luck with your pegnancy I have a 2 1/2 year old. It is so much fun.
  8. First off not sure if this was the right place to post this thread. If not please let me know and I will delete it and move it to the correct place. 9. Hey girls I looked through the threads to see if there was any Texas girls on here. It seems that there are some but have already gotten married. Which is also fine. If you would want to meet up. You could help us noobies out. I was wondering if any of your ladies might want to meet up and have a drink or whatever. We could discuss the details of your D.W. I am getting married in Mexico about 30 mins away from Cancun in the new Dreams resort. Hope to hear from some of you.
  10. Anyone visited the beaches in this area. I guess I just assumed it was going to look like cancun beaches. Now I go on line the beach does not look as blue as I thought it was going to be.

I cant wait to see your pictures when you get back. I was nervous in the beginning. But I think they are going to be going out of there way to have excellent service b/c it is new. They want to get those rooms booked. Another thing to think of a lot of people that will be working at this resort were moved from other resorts. So they will have experience. THis is what my wedding planner told me.
  12. Girls I got this from my wedding planner just thought some of this might be helpful to know. Especially for people booking the free wedding. Megan, I just wanted to give you status as of today, I am waiting on one additional supplier to quote me their best rates. There are two ways you can go with this.... Do a group booking of 10 rooms - no more - no less to guarantee the rate will not change or do individual reservations - rates will vary by booking date and are subject to change if not all booked together at the same time. We've gotten confirmation back that all of the rooms do not have to be booked at the same time in order to get the free wedding OR the other amenities such as the resort credit per person, but there is a booking final date on this - October 16th, 2009. If at least 6 rooms are not booked by this date, the offer is invalid. So, you are taking a chance when you leave it up to your guests to book whenever they have the time or the funds as you could actually lose both promos. By booking a group block of 10 rooms you are guaranteed the rate and your guests can book into these rooms at their "leisure", so to speak. You of course, would put up the initial deposit and you could request they book by a certain date so you would be able to recoup that money in a reasonable amount of time. Or, if you think you may not have 10 rooms filled (I think you will), we can book 6 rooms at the same time, although this would be considered individual bookings, but would enable you to keep the rate of $488.00 per person for 3 nights, so that rate would not change. If one or two or more of your guests want to do an extra night - this is easily done, same as group deviations. I did get the information on adding on a dinner reception if you chose to do the free wedding. I will send that to you in a bit. Hope this helps anyone. I right now am trying to figure something out. Maybe someone could help. Is it possible to have 2 couples in a room together??
  13. Jill thank you so much for your information. Pamela I would like to know the same thing. Does anyone know the exact address for the resort so I can get idea what might be around there?

But it all depends on the amount of people going.. My thoughts are if people are flying all that way,, we should give them a great day to enjoy.. THings are just adding up really quickly.. Whoever said DW are cheap,, noway!!! So was your plan to go with the free wedding and just add extras?? I keep going back and fourth with the packages.. Does anyone have any adive on any of this Thanks!!! I completely agree with you. If I have enough guest I think it would be worth throwing a private party for my guest. But like you said it is adding up. My wedding planner is going over the difference in prices between a package or adding on what I want. I will let you know what she comes up with. I am really thinking the love package might be the best. But that is a big jump of price between free to 2 grand. lol. I also want to have a d.j if I have the private party. I wonder if we could find a cheaper d.j off site? But 280 a hour I do not think is to much compared to what the price would be in the states. But then I think why am I paying this much money at all inclusive resort that provides food drinks and entertainment. I dont know I am at a lose of what to do. I really wanted a mexico wedding b/c I wanted to have a budget wedding. But my spoiled self is getting the way. lol
  15. I cant wait to see your pictures of your wedding days. Anyone thinking about having a reception at one of the restaurants in a reserved area and then going to the club after ward and dancing there? I am really thinking about this option. Mainly I am really not sure how many guest I am going to have. If I do not have more then 15 I really might consider this option. I know at other resorts you can do this for a small fee.
  16. Well I am booked for May 21 officially. I am so glad that part is over. I was not able to get the sunset time I wanted but I hear the sun sets on the other side of the resort. So I will not really be missing much. I am having a very hard time picking the wedding package. At first I was going to just go ahead and do the ultimate wedding package so I would not have to worry about adding anything on. But my T.A/W.P thinks that I would get a cheaper price if I got the free wedding package and add on my reception. I see that some of you are going to be doing the same thing. The only thing that I worried about with this is that all the separate prices are going add up more then what the package is priced at. But we will see. Also are any of you planning on getting a d.j.? It seems that the d.j for dreams is about 280 a hour. In the free wedding package I see that their is not any music for the walking down the aile included. What are you plans for this? I would hate to walk down the aile with no music. I would think it would look kind of strange. Last but not least I know that the wedding gazebo is not finished yet but does anyone know if this is going to have a beach view or garden view? Okay no really this is the last question lol Do you plan on having your honeymoon at dreams or do you think you might go to a adults only resort and get the benefits of having another honeymoon at a different resort?

I didn't think of renting a dance floor(actually it never even occurred to me to rent a dance floor, I assumed something like that would be included) because I figured we'd end up at the disco but now I'm trying to think back....I don't remember reading anything in any of the Dreams descriptions about a disco..... There is a sports bar/ dance club at the D.R.C. I asked Rod on facebook if you are able to go there and dance. He said yes and that they will have a d.j.
  18. Rachelle thank you so much. I am getting pretty excited. Now to get the prices for our guest rooms and flight. And for them to actually say they are going to book.
  19. Thank you Dimenzi Well I am about to book my wedding at Dreams today. I am so excited but kind of nervous. The problem is now I have to pick between the different wedding packages. And I am stuck. I am bringing my own photographer with us so I do not need a photographer. But I do want a reception. And I think we will have about 20 to 30 guest. But it is hard to say b/c you never know what people will do they say one thing and do the other. Do you think that it would be a option at this dreams to add on extra things like a reception dinner and just choose a cheaper wedding package. I hope this makes sense.
  20. Hey girls. I think I am going to be picking the riviera cancun for sure. The only problems is our any of you worried that the price for your guest is going to be to high? Comparied to other resorts is it about the same price or is it much more. How much are you girls thinking that it would be for a guest to stay for 4 nights in April or May? I know some of you have already booked j/w. I have a travel agent but I think her prices seem kind of high. I though you were supposed to get a good deal with a t.a. but seems to be not working in my favor. Also are they offering the free wedding still at this resort if you book so many night or guest?
  21. I have looked into Dreams. They do not have any openings for May or really any month I would want. They are all booked up
  22. First of all sorry that I posted this post in the wrong place. Still new at this and did not really know where to put it. But thanks for letting me know. Girls I just want to thank you all for your opinions on this matter. It makes me feel better that I am not the only one feeling this way. I have made the decision to not worry about it anymore. We want the wedding on the beach in Mexico and if people feel that they can not afford it. I will just throw a party at the house when we get back.
  23. I am hoping we will have enough people to do a group rate. I totally understand if people can not afford to come.
  24. I know everyone says it is my wedding and do what you want. But I am really starting to realize how expensive it is going to be for our guest to go to Mexico. I am starting to feel guilty asking my family and friends to pay about a 1000 dollars or more on a weekend. I know it will be a vacation for them. Has any of your brides feel this way or felt this way? Am I just worrying to much? How are you keeping the price of your wedding down for your guest? Any info or suggestion would be wonderful.
  25. Hey ladies. I am looking at this resort. My W.C. is having a hard time getting a hold of any one to see if they have in opening for a wedding in May 2010. Any of you ladies that have talked to Claudia or the new W.C. is the resort pretty booked up already for weddings? Also if anyone has a wedding package price list. Could you email it to me at [email protected]. I would really appreciate it. I cant wait for it to open and see the end result.
